Nicely done by the “Cat-child” Beatrix and you are correct, Great Boot was really cool! It’s good to see Magnet fondly remembering how her Dad used to talk to her. It seems like no matter how old we get, or how long our parents may have been gone, we always remember the way they would say things to us and some of the special occasions that were associated with them. Good memories as Mag is experiencing in the last panel. Great way to end July! See you next year Jules.
I want to place my order for five (5) of the next book: Breaking Cat News, The Little Pilot On Big Adventures.
And, as Cat is my witness, I will get these books into my local library, even if I have to buy them myself and make a donation. These stories must be shared.
This has been a wonderful story and I hate to see it end! July is over, summer will soon be gone. For kids around here, it’ll be gone in about a week. Doesn’t anybody wait until after Labor Day to start school anymore?
I love how this ended with an out-of-the-blue (as far as Mag knows) compliment from Beatrix, triggering memories and emotions, and a smile, in Mag. And, rather unexpectedly, triggering some memories of my own dad, who was THE coolest dad ever — though I may a bit biased. Then there’s the wonderful mystique added to Jules’ story, who has been revealed as sort of an eternal “He Who Bumps Into Things.” Loved it. Thanks, Georgia! And on to August!
OT: Georgia posted this on facebook “Eight years ago I shared a series of photos I took showing Elvis helping Pucky to clean (and sometimes scratch) his ear/face on the side of his body missing a hind foot. Elvis still helps Puck do this. The power of love!” The pictures are also on Instagram. However, not really necessary. The words say it all. Grumpy old Elvis has been caring for Puck since Puck was a kitten.
Just peaked at the August BCN calendar page – why is Lupin floating in space? Most of the cast are there too, but no Beatrix??? Or Goldie for that matter.
If anyone wants to get stuff from Georgia’s Zazzle store, everything is 30% off for the weekend! Just go to the Zazzle site and type in “Breaking Cat News” and you should be able to see what’s available.
I’m trying to resist the temptation to add to my coffee mug collection.

The phrase that made her angry as a young raccoon now is a fond memory for Old Mag. Is someone slicing onions in here?

Two thumbs up from Beatrix! (Both on the same hand, er paw, even!)

I know how you feel, Mag. So many things my Dad did that drove me NUTS…and I would oh so love to have him be able to do them again.

Peter Cetera and Cher: After All
So here we are again
Another July ends
And now things settle down
Till next year rolls around
And we see our friend again.
…….
I still remember when
I was caught inside that jar
But things worked out alright
I once again take flight
Remembering friends so far!
……..
After all the stops and starts
I love these friends with all my heart
Both past and present I still love them all!
After many years it’s true
I will fly to all of you
I can’t wait until I see
My July friends, it will be
After all!

If Mag could catch time in a bottle
Like Jules in a jar, she would do
She’d keep precious mem’ries tucked safely away
Recall her sweet times spent with Boot
And if, like Jules, we could last forever
And somehow all our wishes came true
We’d soar through life high together
With our love to carry us through

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Elvis-Anum: Let’s see, what do I need for my calligraphy class?
Beatrixia: Definitely enough pens, ink and papyrus for your class. How many will be attending?
Elvis-Anum: We’ll start with ten cats and see how it goes from there. Do you think I should get some colored ink?
Beatrixia: Maybe later. Start simple.
Elvis-Anum: Sounds like a plan.
Boink!
Jules: Hello, kitties! Miss me?
Elvis-Anum: (I did, actually).
Sometime Later
Jules: I love to fly around. Yikes!
Jules: Trapped in this web. And here comes the spider!
Arachna: Jules! How many times do I have to tell you? Watch where you’re flying! Now I’ll have to redo this whole Silk tapestry for Maat-Tilda!

Old Mag is pretty long-lived, too, for a raccoon! She was already an adult -okay, maybe young adult- during Jules’ trial in the 90s.
