Axel, luann wants to help you to get into your studies—-not her pants. Open your ears boy and listen to what she’s saying not just what you wanna hear.

I don’t like to comment on creativity. Because today we all get to be critics, and I imagine that can be overwhelming and stiffling for an artist.

Additionally I can’t remember another storyline this….offputting. the “wink-nudge” is categorically/morally/ LEGALLY repulsive.

So instead I’ll offer this point for conversation. This is the 3rd time (that i can remember) where Luann is going to ‘unintentionally’ break a fundamental rule at work. A rule that Endangers child safety. face palm . She should realize that this kid NEVER talks about schoolwork! She’s aloof. Just like she should have realized inviting a stranger to the kid zone to demonstrate their bow and arrow without proper planning and permission slips was a bad idea.

At this point, only Toni and Brad could write Luann a reference. Is none of that her fault?Maybe she’s in the wrong field? Maybe drama and writing would suit her better. Or even a homemade dog treats company. ( Now That would be funny)

I’ll go out on a limb and guess that Luann’s remark in panel 3 means that she’s figured out what’s on Axel’s mind.

Especially as I have read Luann for so long, I feel so naive thinking that this could have developed into a good arc. I guess hope does spring eternal.

So apparently the entire point of this storyline is that Luann, despite being almost twenty years old, can’t tell when a fourteen year old boy is blatantly hitting on her. And she could get in a LOT of trouble if this goes sideways.

Well, so much for subverting our expectations. Now we should just hope that she lets him down hard, not easy. It’d be funnier that way.

I don’t know who’s the more clueless here, Luann or Axel. I still think Luann should introduce him to The Ego Sisters, Stef and Betts. They would totally revel in that kid’s adolescent fantasies.

Boy this not uncommon to happen and Luann probably is learning some of the pitfalls in teaching, but people here are jumping to unwarranted conclusions—this will definitely resolve in some hilarity ensues way, with big issue is her realization of where Axel’s mindset is, and her resolution. I bet she finds a way.

I will offer this to all those commenters ruminating about Luann’s gaffs in pursuing a teaching profession. It is difficult to write a gag strip where you’re juvenile eponymous character is advancing in age but not maturing.

What was the last really great arc in Luann? The arc that made you eager to read the next day’s strip? Maybe Brad and Toni finally getting married? Luann not giving in to Quill in the dark? Ann Eiffel getting kicked out of Tif’s father’s house? It’s been a while.

On a side note, the hat bill is not colored properly in the last panel. It looks like more hair.

Luann is either still not realizing what is going on with Axel, or she is super clever at turning aside his suggestive remarks (which aren’t really very suggestive yet). The stories he’s told his friends are x-rated for sure. The sad thing is, in today’s world, when she does finally shut him down, this kid could get mad and tell his parents all kinds of lies to get her fired, then when she confronts him to tell the truth they call it harassment. But this is Luann, so it will continue to be an exercise in how two people can be having a conversation, but be talking about two entirely different things.

I think Luann knows that Axel’s crushing on her. She’s just deflecting it and trying to get him back on track with learning.

I hope Alex learns quickly to NOT hit on women in a business setting. Luann is there to work, not date.

Luann is at work. This is her job. She should not have to suspect that every male she meets is hitting on her.
