Even though Les is being a lazy jerk, as somebody who legitimately does have back issues (thanks to a birth defect in my lower spine), I can at least attest to the fact that heavy lifting is the last thing he needs to be doing (that is assuming he really does have back issues). But either way, seeing Tiff driving a truck should be quite a sight.

Main thing one has to remember in a longish van is, you are pretty much well sitting almost halfway over the front axle and engine, so you start your turns just a little bit later than a car where you sit further back from the front axle. My mother in law once borrowed a friend’s Chevy van, and when she was pulling out of the driveway of the house she was moving out of, she started her turn where she normally would in relation to where she is sitting in a vehicle, and damaged both of the passenger side cargo doors (halfway back), and took out the split – rail fence post. Cost her $2,200 to have the van repaired as the person she borrowed it from did not have it insured. And it cost her for the fence post on the rental house. Funny thing is, I had just told her to pull out a little further before executing her turn as she was leaving. Oh, well, she never listened to any of her 9 husbands, either.

I learned on a stick shift, a 1953 used Packard, not a Porsche (my first car was A 1949 semi-automatic Dodge) but learning to operate shift is very useful and unusual for most Gen Zoomers, or even Millennials or Gen X., so Tiffany has surprising talets, yet anothe example of an unexpected MISDIRECTION PLAY. Sorry to capitalize but it’s necessary to highlight my expression for unexpected developments. Hey Les might have a bad back, NAH!!

When moving a friend we discovered that U-Haul will rent you a 26’ truck, and not even ask you if you’ve ever driven one before.

It was a learning experience.

Since then, I give moving trucks a very wide berth.

I drive a ’97 Ford F150 4WD Manual. Also a 2002 Mazda Protege ES Manual. First car was a 1969 AM Rebel Station Wagon, “3 on the Tree” with a Manual overdrive!

If Les has back issues, how is it that he works washing dishes? You want something that can cause back issues, try washing dishes for a couple of hundred people-KP was a thing that everyone went thru back in the day. I did a week washing dishes for 240 men before my tech school started in 1968

The odds that the truck has stick shift in this day and age are pretty slim. Even a lot of semi trucks are automatic these days. Any rental truck you would get would be automatic.

My Dad gave up driving rather than even TRY to drive a modern car with dashboards that look like space ships.
