I think that falls under the group of things that when the words " I Do " is spoken, there becomes a list of “I Wont” any more.

With hubby and me, it’s the opposite. He doesn’t want to sleep in the nude, because he sweats a lot he says. I toss and turn to much, so I find even a tshirt to constricting.

After 48 years, we both still do. As Gizmo said, even a Tee is constricting.

Now that they’re empty nesters me thinks that Arlo would like to revisit the BC times.

She remembers having to change the sheets. He doesn’t.

Poor Arlo…

I do not care for wearing anything when I sleep. In fact I hate it.

A fine line between modesty and ‘what happened to that woman I married’.

I’ve been sleeping that way since I was 12, though my mother refused to accept it and kept buying me pyjamas I’d never use.

It’s amazing, though, how often I’ve often I’ve heard that “what if there’s a fire?” question both from her, and later from girlfriends and my wife.

Such a silly question.

Dang! Those are some soul crushing words there Janis. Best take care of you man girl. Believe me, if you don’t, there are others who will.

I think what’s troubling Arlo is more than they won’t be getting busy tonight; Janis doesn’t hold those memories with the fondness that he does. They’re aging differently. I feel ya, buddy.

I think that this is a bit more subtle than people are picking up on.

It’s about finding that what he thought was, and remains, at least in memory, a shared pleasure is not, or at least no longer, shared.

Lois is a stone drag.

I haven’t worn anything to bed since I was 10 years old. I hate rolling over and having stuff grab around your neck and your waist and not roll with you.

Those were the good old days……

Ah those firm young bodies we used to have. The days before children, where you did not have to lock the door. Infact the whole house was for crazy love games. Late night rendezvous to the back yard. Wild crazy and loud nights when the kids were gone to sleep overs. Those days are memories, but to be able to hold hands, put your arm around your loved one (till arthritis sets in), laugh at times we had, remember the good days and the bad. But as long as she is still beside me, I am happy. We just worry about those KODAK Instant Photos, (they are somewhere in this house!)

Sex seems to mean a lot more to men than to women, from what I’ve seen and heard. Women would enjoy a little more communication.

Sad but true.

The joke here is that Arlo is au natural and Janis isn’t. She didn’t take the hint at all.

I feel sad for Arlo

Lifelong habit, sleeping in the raw. If I had to wear something, I doubt that I could sleep.

I can’t believe someone can stop doing that.

Married for more than 26 years, both of us still do.

The body is able to better regulate temperature without pjs. My husband is forever either too hot or too cold because he refuses to sleep “au naturale.”

This may not make sense at first reading, but Arlo seems to be “All dressed up with no place to go.”. And that realization is painful.

One of the things I like about this strip is its fundamentally non-judgmental nature. No decision is ever implied over whether Arlo is desperately hanging on to youth or that Janis has given up too easily. Rather that each is having a legitimate creation to the aging process and can see the others position as not threatening

It is the best way to sleep and to swim. Keep the place at 71°, take off all clothes and wrap up with the blankets for sleep for the night.

I have learned two things from reading these comments- 1. way more people sleep nude then I would have thought and 2. I have just learned way more about my GC friends then I ever thought I would. ;)

That sort of thing usually stops with the arrival of children…
