And steam rollers can rev it up to about 15 mph. If you don’t know where you’re going you should drive slowly… At least that seems to be the theory of some vehicles I’ve been stuck behind — as different passengers in the car gesture wildly in different directions.

BTW: It’s not “The road to Hell” that’s paved with good intentions, but Hell itself that’s paved.

It’s always best to take your time on the highway to hell. You know where you’re going, so you might as well and stop to smell the flowers.

The cult classic movie Highway To Hell has a scene where the hero is driving through Hell to rescue his girlfriend (Hell looks suspiciously like the American southwest) and he passes a road construction project. The company is of course the Good Intentions paving company. One of those so bad it’s fun to watch films.

A warning is printed on the back of some trucks used in construction: “Do not follow.” or “Do not follow into construction zone.”

I have never believed the toad to hell is paved with good intentions. Sometimes the road to disaster is, but not hell. The road to hell is paved with lust for power and wealth — and callous disregard for the needs of others, especially the most vulnerable.

It is cute that Wiley assumes that many people for a moment consider themselves to have let alone actually do have good intentions these days. Malice aforethought is both the current and the constant state of mind for too many people. Just consider the trolls here not to mention people you meet on the highway at rush hour

My driver’s ed book included the story of a guy who rear-ended a steam roller and tried to convince the judge that it had darted out in front of him. Judges need a good laugh once in a while.

Hmm. Not worried in the least. We all know the road to THAT place is paved WITH good intentions, not BY good intentions. Now if there were a bigger steamroller running right behind ready to smash the Good Intentions truck into the pavement, I might be worried.

Jauntily saunters off to that place all pedants go…
