No way would Tiff be so lazy as not to turn on her home security system. And the broken window doesn’t prove anyone was in her home. She’s just jumping to conclusions.
Good to see Gunther has calmed down. Forget aspirin or beer,,,, she needs Ox! =)
Al’s large and in charge. Get him on the case. I see a really good fanlit opportunity here. Al uses his connections to find out who the perp is. Shady stuff ensues, like maybe a kidnapping plot is uncovered. Tom gets sat down in Al’s study and filled in. At the bottom of it all is…wait for it…Ann Eiffel! Taking revenge on Tiff, who foiled her dastardly plan to con Tom into marriage (and so on). What really did happen to Les’s dad? I still think Ann might have put a hit out on him.
So, Tiff, it’s official? The police came by and reported that it was a burglary? Somehow I don’t think they have done that yet. Tiff, you’re making a lot of assumptions. As for the security, the hole in the window happened before you showed up. So turning on security wouldn’t have made any difference. The only thing you did wrong was running down the stairs while pushing buttons on your phone to call Ox, not paying attention to the steps.
So she didn;t turn on the security system even after Ox specifically told her to. Then again Or does she mean she never turned the security system on while she was at school? The odds that the window was broken after Ox left seems very remote. So the problem may be that she forgot the security system for weeks, maybe moths at a time.
I am not a doctor but I don;t think giving a person with a concussion a beer is a good idea. Les’s idea of helopfulness is less than helpful.
NO! NO WAY! Never ever ever give somebody with a concussion a beer! A friend of mine almost died that way! Yes, I’m getting all wound up over a comic strip, but the ignorance is real out there in the world, and this kills people every year.
In a concussion your brain is bruised and the tissue is weakened in a spot. Alcohol is a vasodilator and damaged brain tissue often can’t handle the strain of the increased blood flow, causing a brain-bleed which can zoom out of control in minutes, because the bleeding gets trapped in the skull, crushing the brain as more and more blood pours in.
It appears that Tiff is now beginning to think more clearly, though she is only beginning to process the trauma to which she subjected herself. When she regains some perspective and self-assurance, perhaps she will also reevaluate her choice about where to recuperate, and with whom.
I wonder if she runs to Gunther to be consoled and wraps her arms around him just as Bets walks into the gulag – or Al and Irma. Keep in mind, Al and Irma put the kibosh on Bets staying there. If Bets entered, jumps to conclusion Tiffany left the dorm knowing she would be staying with Gunther or if she was with Les, why Tiffany can and she couldn’t.
Tiffany is so relatable. Sometimes you forget to do a thing you do every time and then, something happens and you feel so stupid because it’s all your fault. Sure, a burglar would have come even if the security system was on, but that’s not what Tiffany thinks right now. Gunther and Les are comforting her so well as great friends ♡. But it’s sad to see that Bets and Dez aren’t there, worried about their injured and traumatized friend. Let’s hope they are coming soon, worried for Tiffany, and decide they will do something about Stef.
Tiffany is by lengths becoming the most interesting and well devoleped character of this strip, which is remarkable, looking back at her initial purpose of annoying anatgonist. She has depth, not-trivial developments and adds depth to the characters she mostly interact with (Gunth, Les, Ox and even Luann!) and most of the new characters who fall short of being just clichés (the nerd, the hippie, the evil lady…) only exist beacuse of her. Compared to other established characters as Bernice (who went from good conscience to nutso friend) and others who just faded away, it’s almost a Richie to Fonzie situation…
Tiffany is showing signs of coming to terms with reality, her’s and generally. Les is expressing that this is not Luann in middle school anymore, with the aapirinnir beer comment. How she deals with her fundamental issue of where to stay, while trying to get her college degree remains to be seen.
So she failed to turn on the security before heading back to the dorm. That would explain why the system didnt notify anyone of a disturbance when the window broke. Turning the system on after her arrival wouldn’t have notified anyone of any strange movement within the house because the system would have recognized it as an authorized person. It may or may not alert if someone left the house after it was set.
I still think the Cheerleader just threw a rock at the window out of spite for embarrassing her in front of her dorm-mates and “Kippy”! Don’t think a burglar is going to break a second story window to get in… They will choose the easiest route in and out. The upcoming Halloween weekend promises this could get even more exciting!!!
An aspirin would be worst than a beer since it is a blood thinner which can promote bleeding and the main danger of a concussion is bleeding from the brain. I assume we are now just about 24 hours from moving back into the dorm and the missing ring. Noticed the groceries are still in the bag on the counter.
So now Tiffany is going to be a bimbo, and just when she was beginning to act intelligent! There is no proof that there was an intruder, she hasn’t checked to see if anything was taken, she actually failed to reset the alarm when she was at the mansion doing the ware-manse stuff because the window was already broken when she arrived from moving out of the dorm. That means the alarm was off for days or weeks, But let’s not nitpick the obvious details, it’s important for G&K to show she is stupid and depressed.
Far as I can tell, there never was anyone in the house. Someone threw something through a window, and Tiffany pulled a Chicken Little, precipitating all this foolishness and causing me to quit reading this rapidly-going-nowhere arc. Even Ivlax, whose life is centered on this strip, can’t muster any greater reaction than to wonder about Tiff’s bladder.
Tiffany is capable of pulling herself together and taking charge, as shown in the past. She may need help for a while, but she needs to return to the mansion, take care of any repairs, check for any losses, although I doubt anyone got in, and she needs to overcome her fears.
I’m gonna give Les some points for actually trying here. Yeah, he’s still not the greatest kind of guy but he seems to be doing the best he is capable of to actually help Tiffany right now.
So many people today suggesting she drink alcohol. Here’s what I found on Google: Can You Drink Alcohol with A Concussion?Drinking alcohol with a concussion can be damaging to the brain’s recovery. It may prolong symptoms or in some cases, even make them worse. Because alcohol is a psychoactive substance, it alters brain function. A concussed brain can be especially sensitive to these changes, which can make the effects of alcohol more pronounced. Even just one drink with a concussion could lead to intoxicating effects that make concussion symptoms worse. Alcohol is also a neurotoxin that can kill brain cells and make recovery more challenging when the brain is trying to heal. Your best bet is to avoid drinking after a concussion altogether.
If we are still in August before start of classes and Tiffany moved home in May that means Daddy has been gone for 3+ months and it seems there is no anticipation of his return at which time Tiffany would feel safe living at home.
I’m glad to see that Gun has relaxed and is in the loop about what happened. Things seem harmonious for the time being and Les and Gun will hopefully help Tiff to make decisions and move forward (while she recuperates).
Tiff seems a lot smarter and more mature than her former roomies. She is self aware, and willing to see her own shortcomings. She has grown up a lot being on her own. Now she needs to find suitable male and female companions.
Of course she could use a few friends, too! to just soothe her right now.
I went back and inspected the strip from October 7, which shows the broken window. The opening does look large enough for someone to climb through—though not conveniently. And there is no jagged glass sticking up from the sill in the center of the hole. One piece of the grillwork has been broken and bent WAY back, in a way that I don’t think a tossed brick would have done—but if it had, it almost certainly came through the window rather than bouncing back out, given how bent the grillwork is, and it must have been a pretty big brick, or a boulder, very hard to toss. And Greg has shown us only broken glass on the floor, but not any object that might have come through the window. So there is evidence both for and against a burglar having entered through the window, but I think it leans toward “for”.
The other weird thing is that the crack pattern in the glass indicates that the grillwork does not contain separate multiple panes—it looks like that is one big honkin’ piece of glass, and in a difficult shape (neither rectangular nor perfectly round). Pretty expensive glass (but then Tom has the money). But then why obscure the view with that separate grillwork on the inside? Answer: it’s for security, in which case it is probably pretty strong (or supposed to be), so a lobbed brick wouldn’t do much more than dent it. Looks like clean breaks on the two ends of the bent grillwork—so perhaps it was hacksawed and then bent back. Yep—a burglar (and a pretty determined one). Maybe the burglar figured a second-story window would not have a separate entry sensor for the alarm system? And maybe glass-break sensors were not used given that the window has that big security grill?
Okay, that’s enough technical speculation for one day.
