I’m a little shocked Bernice would go and see Nil, after such a long time, and not have shaved her legs??

I’d think she would’ve wanted to be prepared for anything that could happen between them. So what is he wanting her to do? Will Jack or Piro be there, too?

I’m guessing Bernice doesn’t shave her armpits either? Yep; just as I commented yesterday, I see a lot of those around my town as well.

As noted above, he’s rather commanding, no “HI, how are you?” No, “Would you please model for me?” No, “Would you please put this on?” Most women I know would lay into him.

Leave it to Bernice to get it wrong. Gals are supposed to skip shaving above the knee so that they can be reminded to not give in to temptation.

In panel 2, Bern is imagining the moment just before Nil’s wife enters the room and asks, “Do you like that girl’s short hair?”

Looks like Nil found the perfect way to politely let Bernice know that he doesn’t really like her Muse outfit. Or at least to avoid seeing it. I would like to know where they are. Does Nil have a studio? Does he use his room as a studio? Is that a part of the art room he uses? I like that the only problem Bernice would have had with posing for him undressed is that she doesn’t have her legs shaved.

May as well be a clown suit…

Don’t quite know what to say yet, want to see the outfit, but tomorrow might point to where this arc leads.

Somehow being a nude muse was something Bernice anticipated. Luckily he just wanted to model a different, seemingly still modest, outfit. Now if it was something from that line of lingerie from that Ann Effel scam from long ago….

So the Piro letter was a dud, I guess. It seems like most storylines tangentially connected to the titular character get brushed aside.

And the painting will be of Bernice’s chin…..with a black ground.

How would it be if GnK had the stories go back and forth with Bernice/Nil and then Bernice/Piro?,,,,over and over. Might be EPIC!

Nil is abrupt, bordering on rude. Rather than “Hi”, how about “Hi, how have you been?” “Would you mind putting this on?” But then, if he talked like that, I guess he wouldn’t be Nil and it would be jarringly out of character. It still grates on me when people are rude, though. But I suppose that’s my problem.

Nil is like most other men that have hairy legs.

Hmmm, there’s the black and white. Now is this a flapper dress? Has Nil graduated from eyes and noses to cloth folds? Or gone commercial in advertising a black and white period film? He seems a bit bossy today. ;-/

He just wants Bernice to take off that ridiculous outfit. And what 20 year old woman doesn’t always shave her legs ever day? I still do.

Bernice wouldn’t be the only woman who’s lax about shaving her legs in the winter when – for the most part – bare legs are rarely on display. Legs can be a pain to shave (especially skinny legs – shin bones and knees and all are harder to navigate). Women shave their armpits for more than just aesthetics. Bernice’s unshaven legs probably have nothing to do with the state of her armpits.

Interesting that Bernice’s initial hesitation was not being nude, but being nude with hairy legs.

He wants you to take your clothes off and all you can think of is you didn’t shave your legs? And while on the subject, why didn’t you shave your legs?

He’s acting like an artist; l’ll give him that …

Women always feel more self conscious when we haven’t shaved. We fear everyone will notice.

When I lived in Spain from 1962 to 1967, unshaven legs and armpits for women were not uncommon. When we went to some of the beaches in France, shaving everything was also not uncommon. Everything…

What does a “muse” do?

I thought that Bernice was supposed to sit there and inspire Nil with her mere presence, while he spent hours painting a dot on the corner of the canvas.

Modeling wasn’t part of the bargain.

But a sudden complete change in direction is no surprise in Luanniverse.

I like how she’s more worried about her unshaven legs than she is about removing her outfit.

My theory is that Bernice did intend to shave her legs. But with the extra distraction and time spent on her discussion with Luann, she ran out of time. That’s why she was saying she was late yesterday, and why the legs never got shaved.

Real women don’t shave.

Looks like Nil wants his muse to wear a wig and robe a la Mona Lisa. He could have at least said hi first. Bern seems to be used by guys: Nil’s art chick when he needs her. Piro’s couch to crash on. Why is it only Frank & Nancy and Brad & Toni that have seemingly healthy, loving relationships? That’s messed up.

Of course Nil doesn’t want “Granny Hippie” as his model, but rather “Bernie Goth,” clad all in black and maybe just a shade or two of grey….

This ensemble is not Bernice. Maybe Steff or Elvira (mistress of the dark), or even Tiffany, but not Bernice. She’d need suspenders to keep the outfit from becoming a full body cleavage display.
