OT More is not merrier

Elvis wants to spin the gastronomic wheel of fortune, while Pucky extends the paw of NOPE to salad! I’m with Puck on this one too.

Yay, a Pucky chart! The People must like Asian — one Chinese and one Japanese out of six.

The sushi looks good!

One of our cats just LOVED salad! …Dressing. She couldn’t get enough ranch. Liked the meat when I left her a few crumbs if there had been any on the salad, but MAN, that ranch dressing!

Salad is the food they know you don’t want, guys.

The point of salad is to add a variety of colours. You are not actually supposed to eat it. It’s just presentation.

The point of sushi is to show how gullible Westerners are. They can be conned into thinking that a blob of cold rice with a bit of fish and seaweed is real food.

What? No love for hamburgers? And how about barbecue?

OK, so we have salad, bucket of chicken (is the yellow thing an ear of corn?), chinese, pizza, and sushi. What is the one at the bottom? A burrito?

Hope for pizza. It is not only yummy for cats (cheese and usually meat), but the warm box is nice to sit on.

What is that at the 10 o’clock position? I can’t make it out.

Butterbean used to pick out his own piece of lettuce. He wouldn’t take the one I would give him, he had to pick his own piece.

6 o’clock is fish and chips. Be still my heart.

Salad as a takeaway option? What is this crazy parallel universe?

Aside from the sushi, everything on that wheel looks delicious.

Lettuce is 99% water, I’ll stick to water thank you, no nematodes or Planarians or pesticides here.

Also, to this day this comic is the only reason I know how to pronounce “vinaigrette”. I think. I hope?

Canadian singer Gordon Lightfoot has died. He and his music will be missed.

Burt is really killing it with the wordplay lately. I personally have no problem with salad, but as BCN’s food reporter Puck’s comments do carry some weight. It would not be my favorite option on that wheel either.

Silly cats, salad isn’t food, salad comes with food. You go to any nice restaurant and order a steak and they bring you a salad first. They don’t even charge you for it. Salad is just a promissory note that says, “If I wait right here, they will bring me something good.”

I had a waiter ask me one time what I wanted on my salad. I told him Häagen-Dazs. If you melt it, it looks just like ranch.

Pucky, I’ve wondered that for decades. Have yet to run across a good answer.

OT RIP Gordon Lightfoot

His music has been a significant portion of my life’s soundtrack, from “If You Could Read My Mind” to “Sundown” to “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” to less well-known songs of his such as “The Pony Man” or “The Ghosts of Cape Horn”. Several of his songs spoke to me in a voice one could never forget. He—and the also late Ian Tyson—created music and songs which told stories, often ones we wouldn’t have known else. Listen to “Canadian Railroad Trilogy” for an example. We’re all lucky to have had Lightfoot’s music as long as we did. And, we still do—records, CDs, concert videos keep us from actually having the day the music died.

So here’s to Stan Rogers, Ian Tyson, and Gordon Lightfoot—there have been, and are, other great Canadian singer/songwriters of course, but the music of these three has touched me in unique ways.

I’d add okonomiyaki, but that’s not a take out item. The best in big cities is found in Hiroshima, but I’ve had great stuff in Sapporo, Kagoshima and Osaka as well. And there’s that little place in….(You’ll just have to find it yourself)

What is the one between salad and Chinese? I recognize all the others.

Some would say that salad is what dinner eats.

My Tiggr loved lettuce. He’d check out a salad bowl, carefully select the perfect leaf, and walk away with his snack.

I like salads. I make several at a time out of only the things I like, put them in Tupperware, and then I’ve got several days’ worth of lunches prepared to take to work – as long as I remember to bring dressing and croutons, which don’t refrigerate well.

I disliked salads until I discovered spinach a few years ago. It’s actually good.

Obviously they’ve never had a fried chicken salad. Yummm!!!

Mom used to wait tables and would bring dinner as a perk. One night she left the plate out from chile rellenos and Yang discovered the stems. Chile relleno stems became his new favorite. This was in New Mexico but Yang was actually born in Seattle so no idea where he learned to love Mexican food.

What did we learn in the last week of meeting recap? That Beatrix is awesome, and Sophie is amazing!

“What is the point of salad?” indeed Pucky. Especially a salad made from kale. That would be a "spiteful salad.’

Just take all the time needed to rest and recover! Maybe a fabric-type back brace might help (?) – That is, IF the doctor prescribes it! Listen to them and take as careful approach to this as you can. Back injuries are not to be taken lightly! Take care.
