I have a special liking for words like “dastardly”, which doesn’t get seen much these days. Someday I hope to see “pusillanimous” in a comic, but I won’t hold my breath for this one …
Queen Mag’s chickadees are back. Took me a moment to find Violet behind Natasha. It’s also nice that the Crow gets another speaking line. Definitely a crow. Ravens have a hook at the end of their beaks and often the closest feathers bend forward over the top of the beak. It makes them look like they have a hump on the beak.
At the end of the first Asterix book, “Asterix the Gaul”, Julius Caesar tells Asterix, “This is only a temporary truce. We will meet again.” Asterix replies, “I’m counting on it, Julius.”
It seems to have been the beginning of a love-hate relationship between Asterix and Caesar as Asterix keeps his village safe from the Romans but often saves Caesar as well which leads to further temporary truces and sometimes personal rewards for Asterix.
Elvis-Anum: I found a treasure trove of scrolls in the 900s. Here is one from the 930s about Ancient History, specifically Queen Meowses. Legend has it that she was the first lady pharaoh of the Mew Dynasty.
Beatrixia: That’s awesome! There’s some doubt if she was real or merely a legend.
Elvis: This scroll tells about her life as a princess during the Owl Wars. That was before the Owl temple was established and they called a truce.
Bea: I remember learning about that. They eventually settled their differences through games. Someone found a basket and they tossed balls at it.
Elvis: That’s right. Here is what she writes about that time:
I don’t understand what the fighting is all about. It seems to me that there is plenty of desert for everyone, but the Great Horned Owl Strigios insists all the desert should belong to the owls. I fear for my true love, Growl Tiger, who is in the fighting. I, too, will join the fray.
Bea: She was very brave.
Elvis: That she was. I’ll keep reading to find out what happened.
Giving a shout-out to real-life Elvis. Get well and feel better. Power of the Paw be unto you.
Panel 1. Whose back of head is that. Looks like Tommy’s head but he was wearing his hawaiian shirt in August not striped. (Maybe he changed shirts?) Wrong color for Goldie and Burt and too big for Bea. I’m confused.
Wicket instigated this proxy war while safe behind the lines, pulling the strings. I hope that his vanity brings his august presence to the battlefield.
So, is Agnes an imbedded reporter with the troops? Is she bringing the war to the Breaking Cat News Front? I know Natasha is on point, she with the needle swords and cactus needle armor. Alice is probably in command of her squad. With Violet acting as her second in command. I think they are the 36-40 squad, the Robber Mice Marauders.

OT: Elvis (from yesterday) Since this was posted late afternoon yesterday, some missed it. Georgia posted she had to take Elvis to the emergency vet. Here is the follow up after they got home "Update from Georgia: "When you are very dignified, but also mildly sedated. This pretty loopy good boy is back home after this morning’s visit to the emergency vet! It seems that Elvis has a tummy bug (a few of the cats might—energies and appetites are great, but tummies have been a bit sensitive this week. It seems to have hit Elvis hardest.) His vitals and blood work came back great, no blockages or masses. His energy was great too, he came out of the carrier swinging and I needed to approve a light sedation for his exam. Waiting on a couple more test results, but Elvis has anti-nausea and digestion meds to help support him while he kicks this bug. The vet also recommended a bland diet of pumpkin, chicken breast, rice, and stock for a few days. Something of note: It is possible they may have caught some early signs of kidney disease in Elvis today. He was also a bit dehydrated from his tummy distress, so it could just be that too. However, Elvis’s older sister Hazel passed away from kidney disease and so it is good to possibly catch it early if he could develop it too. He already has an appointment with my regular vet this week, and I’m going to follow up on that in the hopes that maybe he can be started on a diet to support him if needed! I’m SO grateful this good boy is home and resting! He’s curled up next to me as I type this, wobbling contentedly from side to side between dozes. When the vet tech returned Elvis and the kids first saw him for the first time, the Girl exclaimed: “He seems so… different!” (He was happy to see them!
Happy update on Elvis from Georgia: “Elvis is still recovering from his bout of tummy troubles. However, he already seems much better than yesterday thanks to fluids and meds at the emergency vet. He would be very grateful for all of your loving, kind comments the past two days (thank you!!) and absolutely furious to find out he stars in a comic. Thank you, everyone! I will keep updating folks in how he is feeling. His appetite remains good and his energy is picking up. All feels like good signs for this strong, tough, special boy!”

Nothing like putting yourself in the path of all the people who don’t like you at once. Good job, Wicket.

I know nothing is supposed to leave the circle, but how will Mona and company know not to let Wicket on, or what Queen Magnet has planned?

If Wicket saw Queen Mag’s expression in the last panel, he’d be heading to Canada.

I see a bad time for Wicket
I see there’s trouble on the way!
I see a circle get together,
Queen Mags and friends will save the day!
…….
Wicket, don’t go out tonight
You could get an awful fright!
Stay in the facility on the right!
…….
I see a bad time for Wicket
I see the Queen with her two cans!
I see her smiling with confidence!
I see her come up with a plan!
