This feels like something the gun nuts will use as an excuse to push their, “See, there’s other things kids can get their hands on besides guns” rhetoric.
ok. enough is enough .the character of shannon either needs to be dropped all together or at least age her appropriately. in 1996 when she was introduced she was 3 years old and then in 2008 she was supposedly 5 so wtf, 15 years later she is still a single digit brat. all of the other characters have aged around her unlike strips like hi and lois where the baby never ages so move on with her G&K or drop her character as it’s like beating a dead horse with the same little brat antics.
We do it different in our house to make room for taller presents. Instead of cutting th bottom branches off, I put down 4 one gallon paint cans in a square an put a 3 foot by 3 foot piece of plywood on top of em. Then I put th live tree on top and cover the bottom an th plywood with a big tree skirt. That makes th tree look taller and makes more room underneath while hiding the plywood an paint cans.
Shannon always knows what to do to turn things to her advantage, unfortunately. She’s a clever child. I’m happy it’s a Sunday strip featuring the Firefighter Family. There’s always so much tenderness in them.
It’s a MARVEL that parents of children like Shannon don’t want to kill themselves at least once a day – partly because of what they put up with day after day, and partly because it’s (at least partly) THEIR FAULT.
It is nice to see Shannon take the initiative and do things without asking others to do it for her. She won’t be able to cut a whole bottom branch off with those clippers, but she can trim some thin outer branches. Glad to see that she is not staring at a tablet or other screen like most kids her age in real life.
Why is Toni so ineffective? She does absolutely NOTHING to discipline or set boundaries for Shannon. She acts like it’s not her responsibility, although Shannon (who is HER niece) is with them enough to have an effect on her life, Brad’s life, TJ’s life and let’s not forget – her marriage. If a child is left with you all the time you have the right to set rules and expect certain behaviors.
A few years ago, I came across something about the Christmas tree tradition in the United States.
The tradition was little known here, until Queen Victoria put one up. Putting up a Christmas tree was seen as being anti-commercialism-of-Christmas and pro-family. So, how did big department stores respond? By putting up displays showing wrapped presents under Christmas trees.
Remember when Shannon cut Luann’s hair after she was expressly told not to, and rather than tell the adults Luann covered for her and denied her the chance to experience any consequences? I see they’re still indulging the demon child.

Toni.. drop the towel and take those shears out of Shannon’s hands! She could hurt herself.
Looks like Brad and Toni’s place needs to be a little more child-proofed.
,
So what will the new arc be? Back to Bets, Stef and Tiffany?

Not to worry, that hand clipper is no match for the larger stems of the lower section of the tree.

Pretty large hands for a 5 year old, doubt she could cut anything thicker than a twig.

And now, she has a “weapon.”
I’m getting the uneasy feeling We’re going to close out the year with Shannon.
But that’s okay.
