It took me awhile to understand what The Boy was holding in his hand and why. The hanger is his hook hand although it represents something much less savvier.
OT: Lincoln and cats by Georgia: “Happy President’s Day! Recently I learned that Abraham Lincoln was over the moon for cats! Did you know? (I didn’t!) He’s even believed to be the first president to live with cats at the White House! Lincoln loved cats so much that when Mary Todd was asked what her husband’s hobby was, she answered “cats.” He was gifted two lady cats from his Secretary of State, William Steward. Lincoln named them Tabby and Dixie and pampered them lovingly, even feeding Tabby at the table during a formal White House dinner! Legend has it that when Mary Todd suggested feeding his cat from the table at state dinners wasn’t the best idea, Lincoln replied, “If the gold fork was good enough for former President Buchanan, I think it is good enough for Tabby…” Another story tells that Lincoln once remarked “Dixie is smarter than my whole cabinet! And furthermore she doesn’t talk back!” …Dixie sounds like Puck or Burt, lol!Lincoln was known to sometimes take in stray cats or come to their aid. In the last days of the Civil War, as Lincoln visited General Grant on the battlefield, Colonel Porter wrote about the president taking in three motherless kittens he heard crying outside the tent. He wrote of Lincoln’s gentle kindness to the three kittens, sitting with them cradled in lap. A direct quote from his writings describes the scene with warm respect, “He would wipe their eyes tenderly with his handkerchief, stroke their smooth coats, and listen to them purring their gratitude to him. …at an army headquarters, upon the eve of a great military crisis in the nation’s history, to see the hand which had affixed the signature to the Emancipation Proclamation and had signed the commissions… from the general-in-chief to the lowest lieutenant, tenderly caressing three stray kittens.” [Abraham Lincoln: The War Years, Volume IV, p. 146.]”
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: Welcome back from Afar, my friends! What did you learn from their illustrious librarian?
Puckmosis: Your Majesty, Beaver Lee Cleary has graciously lent us several original manuscripts written by Erma Bombosis. I hope Elvis-Anum has time to transcribe them for our Very Good Library.
Elvis: For such an important project, I have all the time I need. And I’m sure the Artisans will be willing to lend a paw if needed.
Queen Cat: Excellent. I’m sure a trip to Afar is in the near futute.
Beatrixia: We also stopped at Floofnet’s Ceiling Can Be a Floor Culinary School. He has donuts for everyone.
Queen Cat: That is great news. We can serve them with tea as a late night snack.
Bea: But we need to keep them safe from dessert pirates.
Puck: Don’t worry. Lupinium and Ora Z will be at the oPyramid until later tonight.
Pirates are an excellent thing to be! (I know I’m commenting late, but today’s my birthday and I was off-line all day (except to read BCN) and it was glorious!)

Cats are natural pirates with murder mittens and all. Naturally they only attack foes and shadows and rogue mirror images.

It looks like in panel 4 one of the pirates is napping? Unless her eyes are closed in blissful contentment.

Traditional: Soon May the Wellerman Come
There was a ship that put to sea
In a basket that was full of laundry
They embraced a life of crime on the high seas,
Oh sail, me hearties, sail!
…….
Soon may the lunchtime now come
With sandwiches, snacks and treats!
One day, when the pirating’s done
We’ll take our leave and nap!
…….
The children have their two smol cats
Ora Z and Iggy are ready as that!
And later Ora will take a quick nap,
Oh sail, me hearties, sail!
…….
Soon may the lunchtime now come
With sandwiches, snacks and treats!
One day, when the pirating’s done
We’ll take our leave and nap!
…….
And that’s the tale of the children of the sea
Sailing with two of their favorite kitties
It’s time for lunch, where’s the grumpy Siamese?
Oh sail, me hearties, sail!
…….
Soon may the lunchtime now come
With sandwiches, snacks and treats!
One day, when the pirating’s done
We’ll take our leave and nap!

Let’s hope they don’t find the Black Pearl! But on the other paw, they could probably charm Captain Barbossa into submission and break the curse. :D

That is big news! I love that the Boy just basically decided to get as close as he could to the Disney Captain Hook.

Yo ho ho and a bottle of Sunny D.
Three of us afloat in the meadow by the lamp,
Three of us aboard in the basket on the lea.
Winds are in the air, they are blowing in the spring,
And waves are on the carpet like the waves there are at sea.
Where shall we adventure, to-day that we’re afloat,
Wary of the weather and steering by a star?
Shall it be to Africa, a-steering of the boat,
To Providence, or Babylon, or off to Malabar?
Hi! but here’s a squadron a-rowing on the sea—
Cats on the couch a-charging with a roar!
Quick, and we’ll escape them, they’re as mad as they can be,
The table is the harbour and the kitchen is the shore.
