Goldie being sweet to Lupin is a bit Twilight Zone. I still love the episode with Burgess Meredith as the man who just wants to be left alone to read his books.
Poor Lupin. He’s knee deep in the consequences of his actions. I can almost taste what way too much buttercream would be like. How something so tasty can become so foul.
Georgia: Did you mean to contrast chocolate ganache with buttercream frosting?♥ (Former baker/cake decorator here. Buttercream is a type of frosting/filling, not a flavour. Chocolate buttercream is a thing.)
Big article by Michael Cavna (also a cartoonist) about the recent changes in newspaper cartoon offerings in the Washington Post this morning. Quotes from Georgia and a photo plus a cartoon panel included. And a shoutout to all Georgia’s loyal fans.
Hello everyone!! If you have not seen yet, the Washington Post wrote an article about newspapers dropping women cartoonists! You can read it today! Some folks above have already shared the link (thank you!! I’m so bad at sharing links here!) It’s a great article, I’m really grateful to Michael Cavna for covering this story and what he chose to include from our interview.
I first found BCN on the Oregonian. A friend later told me about The ORB. She later lost her internet and I have been reading the strip and the ORB to her every day for the past few years. The Oregonian still carries BCN.

Good advice Goldie and Goldie and Lupin are starting to sound like brother and sister.

And, if the choice is the hard tile/wood or carpet, make sure you miss the hard floor buy just an inch and hork on the edge of the carpet.

I sense a thawing in the Goldie/Lupin cold war. Dummies.

Poor Lupin is feeling the consequences. Goldie isn’t twitting him enough to not care.

It was a cat gala, so a chocolate cake would be really surprising.

Poor Lupin! He looks like a big glob of frosting (which I guess he is depending on how much he ate).

You have to love affectionate insults. They are the foundation of many a good frenemy relationship.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Queen Lisa of the Moles: This is a most delicious breakfast. I’ve never had a better grub omelet.
King Monty: And this is the first time I’ve tried acorn cereal. Most delicious.
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: And after breakfast, we will have a performance by the Getting Better Kittens.
Dooky Ferret: I haven’t seen Lupinium. Is he alright?
Beatrixia: I think he is feeling a bit unwell. He couldn’t resist an extra slice of cat friendly chocolate cake.
Adobe Style: That was delicious. But sure an extra slice of cake couldn’t hurt.
Puckmosis: He also had an extra piece of fig pie.
Elvis-Anum: Finished off by the special Xanadu honey scones.
Thomios: Not to worry. He’ll be fine after a little rest and some chicken soup with rice.
Bea: I saw the chickens were busy preparing soup. It reminds me of that Carole-Pharaoh song.
When I’m hungry it’s so nice
To have a bowl of soup with a bit of rice
Prepared by chickens it’s so nice!
Sipping once, sipping twice!
Sipping chicken soup with rice!
When sometimes I don’t feel so good!
I ate a bit more than I should!
But chicken soup with rice is good!
Sipping once, sipping twice!
Sipping chicken soup with rice!
I told you once, told you twice
A bowl of soup is always nice
It’s always time for chicken soup with
Time for chicken soup with rice!

This reminds me of something I found written on the inside wrapper of a Bazooka Bubble Gum wrapper (remember those?) when I was nine years old:
Mary had a little lamb, a lobster and some prunes.
A glass of milk, a piece of pie, and then some macaroons.
It made the waiters grin to see the lady order so.
And when they carried Mary out, her face was white as snow.

In panel 4, is Lupin making a thumbs up sign with his right paw? Or (improbably) holding paws with Goldie?
