As predicted.. BATUBS is going down in flames. Luann is happy with who she is.

Will they throw in the towel and try something else?

Luann, is happy with the person that she is. You don’t need branding to change who you are, If you like the person that you are.

If I were in Luann’s place: I don’t think so, Tiffany. I am happy the way I am. Ask me what I would like to be in five years. I’ll tell you, and then you can say, “Well, let’s start now.”

I’m sorry.

But these ladies are Branding / Re-Branding the WRONG “subject.”

And just WHERE is Bernice anyway??? ;-)

Tiff: Show us your frustration and unhappiness, ’K?Luann: (look at my face having to deal with you two).

So…they’ll need to craft videos for two fake personalities…the before (fake miserable Luann) and the after (fake “changed” Luann).

With Tiff and Bets being so committed to old archetypes of the makeover, maybe they’ll resort to lazily putting a pair of thick glasses on Luann’s face for the “Before” picture. Then for the “After” have her take them off and mussy up her hair and they’ll all go, “Why, Luann… you look so beeauty-ful!”

I mean, it worked in every romance movie in the 2000s, which seems to be when Tiff and Bets are mentally stuck in since they’re about as in touch with what Gen Alpha or Zoomer trends as an alien might be (I mean, hot to split hairs but Karen and Greg could do so much fast research on what is in fashion for college kids today with just a few searches on youtube or tiktok).

Also it’s funny how non-stop this storyline has been with savagely dunking on Luann and roasting her for having no personality. She is a character who is the stand in for Karen right? Should Karen be insulted if Greg suggested this storyline or should we check on her to see if she’s in a self-loathing funk? Cause the rebranding thing… it’s kind of painful.

This whole story has gotten old, it was always tired and unimaginative. Running this out for the whole week is just rubbing salt into an open sore.

You can’t pass shiny off as authentic. Doesn’t work!

What is this? Week 3 of this weak arc?

I like the way Tiff curled her hair ends to give her a more feminine appearance. That says Tiff cares about Luann even though she is snarky around her. This is just the Before video stiff didn’t need to curl the ends.

Yea, and really ham it up for the sob story. People LOVE desperation.

What did the fans do to deserve this tripe……

Tiffany and Bets picked the wrong name for their company. It shouldn’t be ‘Batub’. It should be ‘Batty’…

This arc makes it clear Karen must hate Luann – the humiliation for her character and dragging the strip down with a never ending arc so many people want to stick a needle in their eye for having taken the time to read once again. Ouch! Comic strip suicide?

When I think about what Luann was like when this comic strip started, an insecure 13 year old who hated everything about herself who had been an insecure little girl who hated everything about herself and compare that to how she is now, liking herself the way she is, it seems like Luann has actually matured more than most of her friends.

Better switch to ‘Plan B’

There should be skid marks on the comics page from all the people who’ve been writing the Batubs script about Luanne for the last year or two, and have now u-turned, defending her right to be who she is. I don’t know if anyone else noticed Bets and Tiff are simply parroting readers’ opinions from the past.I’m glad to see the creators get some possibly unintended validation. chuckle

A girl, with a very enticing and sultry voice, phoned me and said, " I’m at 1211 Elm St. . . . Come on over, there’s nobody home."

I hurriedly went right on over.

Nobody was home !

That is the “beauty” industry in 4 panels. First they make us feel ugly, then they “fix” us. It’s the ugly industry.

I’m sure she can point out two big sources of frustration and unhappiness right now.

They should do Les. He really needs a new way of presenting himself.

Oh poor Luann. Having to listen to this mind-numbing idiocy that goes on and on and on.

Trust me: I know how she feels.

When is this arc going to end?

Tiff hasn’t learned the art of interviewing. She doesn’t lead the interviewee to where she wants her to go. Allowing for free association can lead to unexpected outcomes.

Even if someone is seeking re-branding, they are empowered. Luann does not have a brand to re-brand to begin with, but still has the willingness and enthusiasm to give it try.

I sure hope Luann has protected herself by saying, in writing, the airing cannot be published without her approval and written consent

A good left hook should do it!

Unfortunately Bets and Tiffany are right, the video has to start with Luann feeling down. It’s kinda sad, because after years Luann finally seems full of hopes. The fact that a little appreciation from two friends was enough to make her feel this way says a lot about how unappreciative Luann is in her daily life. Now I’m afraid that Luann will think about her life and have a major moment of depression.

So incredibly boring.

They have to tear her down …

… so they can take credit for building her back up.

This arc sucks, please move on.

If it ain’t broke, DON’T fix it!Typical “NEW Corporate” mentality. Design a “problem” where there are none, then “fix” it. In other words “Make a new problem!”

Best strip yet in this arc. Luann knows she is fine the way she is.

Bets is wearing a different shirt than when she arrived at Luann’s. Since she obviously packed a bag, she should share one of her shirts with Tiffany.

Luann does see herself as needing “rebranding,” just not the way Betts, and, Tif planned on doing it.

I doubt that most people of any age would know what their Current Brand Identity is. They may think of themselves in a certain way, but that is probably not how other people perceive them.

There hasn’t been a decent Luann strip since 3-23-24. That’s an entire month! I am so sick of this “branding” fiasco. I am not a business major and have never taken any business courses. I believe many other Luann readers are the same. I don’t want any more “lessons in advertising.” PLEASE!

Once again, Bets is being controlling and trying to run someone else’s life…

I am old. I was a teenager in the sixties and really didn’t like it with all the conflict of the Vietnam Era, racial tension, assassinations, etc. Life was bigger than the individual. But, I am glad I didn’t have to put up with this kind of stuff being played out as “personal branding”. Good Grief! I feel sorry for the kids today. As soon as they learn the world doesn’t revolve around “ME”, the better off they will be.

Nice response, Luann. These two are full of enthusiasm and devoid of human connection.

Come on Luann, we’re your friends. Show us what a piece of miserable pathetic worthless garbage you are. Time for Bernice, the insightful therapist, to show up and inspire Luann with a Billy Joel song:“I don’t want clever conversationI never want to work that hardI just want someone that I can talk toI want you just the way you are.”

Bets and Tiffany are missing THEIR calling… running a used car lot.

“You want to see my frustration and happiness? Turn the camera to focus on Tiffany and let me tell you what growing up with her in my life was like.”

“I am a blank slate full of potential who is spending large amounts of money on a college education to get me a underpaid childcare job where I will be a tool once I’m provided with on the job training.” Take the rebrand Luann.

Pretend you’re in your room talking to Bernice. That’s when the pathetic details come out!

When reading my selection of comics in the morning, I’m skipping right over Luann till this stupid story line is over! I’ll check back next Monday!

I’m frustrated and unhappy with this line of questioning…

Luann is clearly in an elevated “After” position since she seems to see the irony of this con-game. Bets and Tiff are about as “Before” as it gets in terms of integrity, validity, and responsibility.

Luann was not frustrated and unhappy when these two walked in the door. Tiff and Bets gave her some words and a way of thinking that helped her to feel empowered but she wasn’t in some miserable state before hand. Their before and after concept and the idea that someone can be instantaneously re-branded is flawed.

I like the flip hairdo Tiff gave Luann. They should listen to Luann. She’s writing a better selling point than they are.

Tiff’s comment of “Show us your frustration and unhappiness, ’k?” should serve as the perfect cue for Bernice to show up…prompting Luann to say, “There you go! Ask and ye shall receive!”.

Which means this arc’ll be hijacked, and will no longer be about Luann, as is what usually happens in arcs she’s involved in.

Coaching the witness.

This business is going to fail for a reason you can see coming a mile away. They want to change who people are, and that’s going to doom any attempt they make at “rebranding” someone.

But she’s not frustrated or unhappy.

I think I’ll have to skip the strip till this arc is over. It is painful to read.
