So where is this heading? Will Tiff and Bets take credit for what happened?

Frank is never going to do normal dad stuff, like telling his kids he’s proud of them. He needs therapy.

After all these dead ends, Luann 1212, may get his prediction that hilarity will ensue. Nice, clean set up for happy fun as Luann becomes all bumbled in trying to be the local, humble hero.

Well, Wanda and Frank…she still has teenager brain. Immature and impulsive. But she stepped up and did what was necessary to take care of Mrs Horner so that’s something for you to to be proud of so focus on that.

After a train accident, I was interviewed by all four television stations about whether I still had faith in Amtrak and how I felt about the accident. It was the train before the one I was on and was the first time I had heard of it.

I don;t know what Frank’s problem except he never seems to like Luann. Getting interviewed is still a big thing, I imagine, so it is only natural that Luann would want everyone to see it. And where is Luann being humble? She was bursting with the news and while she may have said it was no biggie it certainly meant a lot to her.

Certainly an intentional entendre by Karen in the third frame, but I would be doing the same thing if I were in Luann’s position. When Bernice sees this, she will find a way to put a damper on the occasion.

Telling your friends you were on the news is normal and has nothing to do with the humility part i.e. the actual answers Luann gave to the reporter.

I hardly ever text or post but if I was interviewed on the news, I might tell friends.

Luann is sure taking pride in this recent achievement of hers. I wonder how Bernice will react to this.

Hopefully she will get a reward from the school or the city for her handling of the situation. Maybe even a scholarship.

Hey, being interviewed on the news for something good is a big deal for her. Of course, no one wants to appear on the evening news for something bad.

Well, though not humble, at least she has a more positive attitude of her self worth.

Seems plausible to me.

Luann tells the facts without saying all her merits. Frank and Nancy could at least try to be proud of her for more than a few seconds! Luann saved her teacher and was interviewed, she has every right to be happy and to say to her friends that she will appear on TV without being seen as vain. I would like to see Bets and Tiffany’s reaction, maybe this will become part of the AD for Batubs. Maybe talking to Toni and Brad about what happened would help Luann to see her talent as an EMT.

I for one am glad to give Luann her moment of recognition.

Humility has more to do with truth than pride. Yes, she feels good that what she did to save Mrs. H was publicly recognized and wants to share that.I doubt there is anyone here, who in the same place, wouldn’t call someone to share.

She is only human, extraordinary, one moment, and mundane the next!

If someone I knew was on the news I would certainly want to know about it. It is perfectly normal for Luann to let people know.

FOR GOD’S SAKE LET HER HAVE A WIN. Comments here are never happy. Why shouldn’t she feel happy. She is self deprecating, even when others there were calling her a hero, but there is nothing contradictory about wanting your friends to know.

What first aid?

There must not be much going on in Pittsville if “92-year-old woman collapses in her classroom; student calls 911” is considered breaking news.

Saved her life? All Luann did was make sure that Mrs. Horner was positioned comfortably and that a big lummox didn’t crush her chest. A campus cop was summoned, and he in turn called 911, but Mrs. Horner revived without medical attention. Hauling her away in an ambulance was just a precaution, for a woman of her age. That sort of thing must happen a dozen times a day, even in a municipality the size of Pitts (which is in fact large enough to host both a community college and a university), so there’s no way it would merit a TV crew’s coming out to interview people (especially since there’s nothing to see there, after the ambulance left).

All this ultra-hype of a mundane situation makes it clear where this story arc is headed. Remember that the strip tried to rehabilitate the image of Luann’s schlub brother by making him a fireman, so now it’s going to try to change Luann herself from a vapid “blank slate” into another heroic first responder, namely an EMT. So now at least Luann will finally have a career goal (even though her actions in this single incident really don’t serve to indicate that she would be any good at it, notwithstanding all this ridiculous conflation of her importance in “saving” Mrs. Horner). But can we just speed along Luann’s inevitable decision to take that career path without first having to wallow in weeks of praise and gloating?

That FINAL word says it all.

I would record myself being on tv and then play it for my friends and family…..over and over again LOL!
