Glad to see the Tidy Woman is learning something. And no, Microchips are not a fancy type of mini chocolate chip! Although, some chocolate chip cookies would be DANG GOOD about now.

I believe there is likely nobody better suited to being a therapy cat than our big ol’ floofy boy Tommy. Like, I can’t envision Elvis being a therapy cat, for example.

I wonder if Georgia had any idea how much so many of us would be so disgusted by TW to the point of not wanting to see them ever again!

And, I sure hope our remaining questions get answered: Where are Gutter and the Warrior Mice. Where is L’il Starfish Squeaker? Will Gutter and Sophie see each other again soon so they can thank each other? Anything I’m forgetting?

Chippig is important even for house cats as they too can slip out, get disoriented. We saw saw what could happened when Elvis got out.

Yes you can be a hero to a lost animal… try that sometime instead of just stealing them off the street and locking them in a cage!

I’ve tried micro chips. Bung them in the microwave, heat them up, and they’re quite edible. Not as good as freshly made chips from the chip shop, of course.

Chipping you pet is all well and good, but you MUST REMEMBER to register and keep the database updated. Every time you move, get on line and update your info.I can’t tell you how many cats we scan, and find that they’ve come here from another country, and the owners haven updated the info.

I know TW has been a polarizing story line/figure, and most of you never want to see her again, but I just want to play devil’s advocate here: Sophie’s woman taking time to educate her may have a longer lasting effect than ripping her a new one. (I think she could have used a little bit of scolding, however.) I’m coming at this from my belief that she is more misguided than malevolent. Most important of all to me is that Sophie was the only pet in tidy house. It wasn’t as if she was picking up every dog or cat she saw along the way. She does seem to have a narrow view of the world – as soon as she saw Gutter he was a “rabid raccoon,” – but in fairness to her, I remember a time that most wild animals, especially if they wandered into residential areas, were assumed to be that! Lord Pomegranate looked happy and handsome in his finery and we know she found Sophie to be beautiful – but maybe her next pet will be one that doesn’t appear perfect from the outside, but with some TLC and attention can give back to their human more than they receive.

    Meanwhile, Back on the Nile

Beatrixia: I found a scroll from the 900s section about Sophititi’s descendant.

    Elvis-Anum: What happened then?

Bea: Here is Sophie’s journal entry:

I am home safe under the bureau with my journal and pencil. All is well. The Tidy Woman may not be all bad. After all, she had a pet she loved. I hope she may find the pet she needs and who needs her.

Puckmosis: Aw, it looks like it ended well.

Bea: And we know All’s Well That Ends Well.

Ora Z: What is a boo-roo Sophie talks about?

Elvis: It’s a piece of furniture with a lot of drawers and a mirror.

Ora Z: It seems to me I’ve heard of that.

Elvis: Well, time for a nice relaxing nap.

Ora Z: Not quite yet. Mallets Towards None is having a rehearsal with Lupinium’s tumbling class.

I’m very glad TW is learning. I did imagine Georgia would make her redeemable; as others said, virtually everyone is, other than Wicket the owl (whose mature is to feed on other animals, so it’s not like it’s a choice).

And, re: microchips — the first dog I had chipped was my Maltese puppy. They all look pretty much alike, so I knew it was important. Every one since has come chipped, or I’ve had them chipped. I’ve never needed them, but better safe than sorry.

My current dog, Bucky, actually has two chips. He was left outside an animal shelter around Thanksgiving 2020, in a carrier in the cold, no note or anything. Fortunately he did have a chip, and they tracked down the owner, since they didn’t know if someone found him, or he was a surrender. I don’t know his back story, but they’d called him Buster, and he was 12. A rescue group woman went to the shelter to pick up another dog, saw him (he was about to be put out for adoption), and took him with her too, as it seemed like the right idea (it was). When I went to pick him up, I asked about a chip, and she said she almost forgot, and chipped him with their chip. But, when I looked at his paperwork, I saw the old chip information; so I was able to change his registration for that one to myself, after they confirmed with his previous owners. That made me feel good, that they knew he had a new home. Despite their having been someone who mistreated him, I know he had a loving person in his life as well, and I’m sure they were glad he was adopted.

But only if you keep up with the registration, if you move, you need to update. Poody is chipped, Roy we didn’t bother, since both are exclusively indoor. A week before he got sick, I took come hardware cloth and some leftover wood and built a Catio on one of the bedroom windows. Poody absolutely loves it, and she hates going outside except for a few seconds. Roy likes it, but we’re waiting til fall when he will go crazy watching the leaves fall, and he tries to catch them as usual.

Microchips have been in use for at least 25 years in many places, so it’s surprising that some people would still not have heard of it.

I wasn’t offered the option in 1994 when my 2 kittens of the time were spayed and neutered – they got ear tattoos – but by 2012 it was the norm for the shelter and foster rescues in my current city.

Sophie’s woman doesn’t know the back story. She doesn’t know that Sophie was taken from her own front yard, so it might seem plausible that TW thought she was actually homeless. She also doesn’t know that Sophie was kept in a cage.
