Ah, I see Mike is sniffing his glasses again, LOL. And Mark is REALLY showing signs of aging!

In the last panel, Mike really looks like a grandfather.

And again, the glasses are where they are because it would be a lot of work to draw the eyes behind the glasses, and Trudeau has always drawn them this way.

Grandchildren are delicious, especially when barbecued.

The Jewish festival of Hanukkah begins on sundown, Christmas day (I love when the two holidays coincide). It celebrates the victory of the Jewish people, under the leadership of a family called the Macabees, over the Syrian monarchy that occupied their land, desecrated the Holy Temple, and tried to completely “Hellenize” the country and its people. Though greatly outnumbered, the Hebrews—through brilliant wartime planning and better knowledge of the terrain—managed to defeat the enemy and its “war elephants”. While cleansing the Temple in preparation for its rededication, the Hebrews discovered that there was only enough pure oil for the Tabernacle to last one day, but, by a miracle, it lasted eight days until more could be brought in. Hannukah lasts eight days, and is marked by lighting the menorah each day, spinning the dreidel, and eating potato pancakes (which I love with sour cream—yummy!).

Best part about today’s strip it wasn’t political.

The grandpa gene is real. I never had kids or wanted them. Now I feel protective to any little kid I see.

Makes sense from a genetic stand point. Back in the day the elders and the youngest would be left at the camp/village while the mothers and fathers collected food. The old folks would teach and protect the youngest.

Everyone says that grandchildren are the best part. Because my only child can never have a child, I’ll have to find a vicarious one.

January 6th is coming.

My grands are the best. They’re funny, they’re smart, they’re kind, and when they’ve worn me out, I can send them home to their parents!!!

Grandparent is a great gig. You can sugar the kids up and then hand them back to their parents.

Karma…gotta love it…

If only someone could find a way to have them FIRST!!!

Grandkids are God’s way of letting you get back at your children!

My Christmas musical tradition is to get up early, get my headphones out, find the Mormon Tabernacle Choir version of the Hallelujah Chorus, and turn the volume to 100. Boy oh Boy can they sing.

Grandchildren. The instruments of our revenge.

Grandchildren are the reward for not strangling your children. But you gotta have the kids’ first!

“No sound like 15 sopranos” is the exact reason I can’t STAND most children’s singing.

Or maybe it’s the name of a sequel to a hit HBO series?

With my luck, the sopranos that show up at my house will be packing heat.

Just spent the night at a pool with a hotel with the 3 oldest grandkids (8, 9, & 12); gave their parents from their kids, and us a break from our kids……..

It was GREAT!!!

I have a granddaughter that I spoil rotten and I love every minute of it.

There’s a social phenomenon (probably much less common now than it used to be) where, when a teenage girl gives birth, her parents, the child’s grandparents, raise the child to believe that they’re the child’s parents and that the teenage girl is the child’s sister . Thus they get to have grandchildren while they are indeed still young enough to enjoy them…except they’re the ones who are raising the grandchildren so it’s probably not quite as enjoyable as it could be. :-|

I had step-grandchildren for ten years, which was fun but enough for me. The part I did not enjoy was the whining stepdaughter who would complain, “Why do my children whine so much?”

Yeah, why.

We took care of our granddaughters daily when they were in grade school. We were Grandparents Who Say No. We got to go home though. We got to sleep all night. They’re in high school now and ignore us just like they do with their mom and dad.

He’d have to skip a step, or two.

We got the two for one special. Had one child, and got two grandkids. They were fun during their toddler and pre school years. Many times we babysat for the parents and enjoyed every minute. Now they are not yet teenagers, but act like it.

Don’t you need the first to have the second?

Ba dum bum ! And ho ho ho! Ha! ;-)

Nieces and nephews are easier and cheaper.

Yes they are! I have three, two boys and a girl. They are the best! I have cousins with kids who have decided not to have kids, meaning no g-kids for my cousins. They are jealous.
