Us older folks have more that we need to remember than younger folks. We just need to continually update our archival retrieval systems. It doesn’t hurt to write things down, when you need to, to be able to come to them for future reference. “Too much information running through my brainToo much information driving me insaneToo much information running through my brainToo much information driving me insane” The Police, Sting.

The placebo effect is amazing, never underestimate it.

Tests with aspirin done using proper clinical techniques show that we think name brands in flashy packets work better than cheap generic pills. That 2 pills work better than 1. That pills given by a doctor work better than ones we pick ourselves (White Coat Syndrome.) And that placebo works even when we know it is a placebo.

I’m lucky, when I’m in the store and don’t know why, just call home.

‘’Oh yeah, bread, boloney and some coffee. I got it, babe.’’

There are people who would use chemistry to improve the quality of life for people. Why are they always subordinate to those who only seek profits and legal loopholes? Tell me again how capitalism solves all problems and regulating it [shudder] is evil.

If you see that tiny statements at the bottom of the screen, these statements or products have not been evaluated by the FDA. Snake oil at its finest, any effect is most likely a placebo effect. If these kinds of product work for you, that’s fine. I’m not risking my liver or kidneys for any of that stuff. That includes any energy drinks…

Funny, this is a rerun of the exact same strip from February 14, 2021, with one tiny change: in the 2021 strip, the stated annual cost of the drug is $1,100; in the this version, it’s dropped to $750 per year. Either way, that’s a lot to pay for drug that had been tested and “proven effective” only by its manufacturer.

Ever walk into a room to do something and then forget why? It’s an actual phenomenon called the “doorway effect”. It seems that the human brain regards a new room as a different location and discards some memories from the old one to make room.

    .

Thinking is hard, and our brains take a lot of shortcuts!

“Darn! I need Prevagen, because I don’t remember this strip!”

It’s funny that GoComics allows words in the comics they print that they don’t allow readers to use in their posts.
