I’m at a loss as who are Hugo and Alita are. The couple’s characters, yes, but of which manga/anime/movie?

Bets is taking ‘Public Displays of Affection’ a bit too far, methinks. ✨

A return to the beginning of the Bets-Gunther relationship – where Bets was already sharing too much…

She really needs to start asking Gunther about these things before doing them.

Alita and Hugo do not have a happy ending. Hopefully Gunther and Bets will do better. Bets’ costume appears to be from the movie adaptation this last year and not from the manga.

Alita: Battle Angel Alita is a Cyborg and Hugo is Alita`s Love Interest.Bets is pushing Gunther’s boundaries (comfort zone).It is familiar to Rosa and Peru situation.

Trouble brewing. I do love the cosplay though.

Bets is really spontenous just like rosa. Maybe Gunther is finally getting over himself: cause i would have expected him to ROYALLY freak out over seeing bets in a skin-tight body suit, then she kissed him—on the mouth—while live-streaming it.

And the “Ironies” in this Strip just keep on coming.

When Gunny and Bets first met back in April, he was soundly criticized by fans for constantly being on his phone. Even Bets took issue with it, giving Gun an Ultimatum at one point. I believe She said something the effect of “All or Nothing,” or something.

Now, Bets is the one that can’t stay off her phone. Putting every aspect of their relationship on social media, including today’s first kiss. So. How could Gunther be wrong in what he did, but Bets be right in what she’s doing now?

The question now is, much longer is Gunther going to put up with what Bets is doing? Probably forever.

BUT. And I’ve said this before. If Bets keeps this up, sooner or later one of those 219 female Instagram followers may make a serous play for Gunther. And shove her right out of the way. Yeah I know, “wishful thinking.” But hey, I did call Gunny and Bets dressing up like movie characters by the end of the year.I just had the wrong movie. Atlia Battle Angel instead of Star Wars……., ;)

I’m not getting the Manga Fest (which is a celebration of Japanese art and culture which takes place in Seville) reference???

It’s good to see that Gunther and Bets are doing Cosplay of the Alita Battle Angel movie. I just hope that their relationship doesn’t end in tragedy as in both the Manga and movie.

In frame 1 Gunther doesn’t have his usual nerdy appearance. In frame 2, Gunther gets a kiss with actual chemistry – which didn’t look like that with Rosa. Sorry about frames 3 & 4 – I thought we had a new Gunther for a moment.

David liked it too…all but someone else kissing her.

New haircuts! Bets is very versatile. Gunther might exit this relationship. Maybe Tiffany or Luann rescue Gunther. Rosa is history.

Still don’t like Bet’s use of social media for their relationship.

OK, I’ll admit the cosplay is adorable… Hopefully Gunther comes out of this better than Hugo did.

I sense pending tension on Bets behavior. Gunther tends to be a bit introverted, but her continually broadcasting of their more tender moments takes away from them. I hope Gunther steps up and asks her to stop in which she accepts his request. Otherwise we could be seeing Bets passing out of the picture shortly.

While Bets is extroverted, Gunther is introverted. I do not think Gunther has problems showing public displays of affection to Bets, but to the whole viewing audience of cyberspace? I think some boundaries need to be established in this relationship and what each person is comfortable with.

Boring.

Thank goodness this is the 21st century. If Greg did this comic of two people of different nationalities in embracing each other back in the 1960’s, this strip would have been banned.

Any theories concerning Bets ethnic heritage?

Wow – Gunther surely does not seem to mind the kissing as he previously would have done. By the time Bets is done with him, he will eventually look like Aaron Hill. I can just see Luann now…

in psychology, showing is a sign of insecurity, it is hard for me to see why some people should have insecurities, though.

These are truly wonderful cosplay. They both are so cute. Gunther is amazed by Bets’ one, does this mean that he didn’t do it but, as a good costplayer, she did her own costume? Nice to see how they are happy together. but the fact that Bets is always posting theirs life on social networks seems to be still annoying for Gunther. Time to put some boundaries?

What’s more irritating than geeks is geek couples.

I went out with a lady who was always head down with her phone. On the first date I asked her not to. When she did it again on the second date, I got up and left her at the table.

That’s it! Over the top rude and inconsiderate. Anyone with a shred of dignity would run fromthis pathologic attention seeker. This is a huge slap in the face to Gunther.

I think the choice of these star crossed characters is a foreshadowing that this relationship may be in for a rocky ride in 2020. I think Bets strong affinity for over sharing on the Internet will eventually drive them apart. Gunther is clearly not happy with this. On a positive note, they both look fantastic in their costumes! And I’ve never seen Gunther look so happy and content (live-streaming not withstanding!) Bets is a good fit for him. I do hope they can work this out.

Did you notice that Gunther is undergoing a physical change? Remember when Brad stopped looking horrid? It is Gun’s turn.

G DOES seem to regularly need a pull into new experiences but is Bets pulling too hard? She seems to be, but is so enthused that she has stopped observing him. Then again, given how she just accepted Tiff’s grade lie instead of looking at Tiff’s expression, Bets might not be particularly observant and that lack will come back to bite her many times in life if she does not turn it around.

Last time, with Rosa, he caved and caved, then freaked and escaped, after which he had a major retraction into his shell with stages of anger and of acting once again like he was a 13 year old. Later he accepted some of the positive changes his time away had given him.

Will G continue to cope this time and set some limits, or will he fall into the same pattern?

Hmmm, this makes me wonder what is happening with Rosa. In a country clinic setting anyone who is willing to learn winds up being taught and participating, so she has probably helped set legs, deliver babies (maybe even dealing with some cases of microcephaly given the epidemic between then and now), helped treat multiple illnesses, etc. Talk about an interesting addition to a school application! She was already ivy league material. (Yeah, I know what the people who have never spent time in an extremely rural undeveloped area have said, but we already knew that village had a clinic with at least one professional health care provider, and that sort of setting is very different from the suburbs, with people who are willing to learn and participate being welcomed and taught in real time. Hey, I’ve been in such places in my distant past, okay?)

I didn’t even recognize Gunther. I thought Bets was messing around with some other guy.

Gunther’s hair was “shmushed” down by the head covering so it has given him a new…. actually fresh…. look. It may be time for him to try either his curly locks much shorter…. or longer…. just different. It helps him likely feel different. He should also consider a full beard/mustache. It is a common male “engineering major” look.

As far as the posting of the kiss…. that seems far more normal and tepid…. and at least in my mind should not ruffle his feathers…. hell… he lived through the posting of him being shown with women’s lingerie (he was behind the mannequin) and that did not result in a huge argument….. so this really should be nothing….. couples do a posting is a kiss all the time.

Even though I have absolutely no idea of the two characters they are portraying…. I hope they have fun at the event.

First, it is great seeing Bets and Gunther together, and those costumes are cute, as they are, particularly hot Bets (Gunther is kind of hot too actually). The issue clearly is whether the use of social media, as part of their cosplay (hope I a using the reference correctly) is wise, and/or something Gunther, a very private person, can live with. Some analogize this with Rosa and Peru, that trip being way beyond what Gunther ultimately could deal with, causing a break-up in their relationship. I hope that won’t happen here, that it will work out, but I agree with the overall sentiment, it is an obvious issue that is the subject of it’s own arc.

Finally, Greg has referenced a movie that’s less than a decade old. He’s done Nosferatu, Barbarella. and even Toy Story, but this has to be the most recent one.

Since I have no idea what a “manga-fester” might be, I suspect this whole arc will be lost on me. I mean, I get this is Bets and Gunther (I guess), but beyond that, I know nuttin…

Gunther should realize that when Bets comes in holding her phone up like that, pictures will be taken and posted, so no surprise.

Someone else suggested Gunther’s (rightful) reluctance to Bets’ open posting to the internet public without asking him first. I do hope they talk about it – and NICELY, in this week’s story.

Gunther FINALLY kisses Bets. It’s about time, Gunth!

Some are predicting the demise of this relationship; I’m not so sure. Bets pulled this social media thing on Gunther early on when they were just starting to date. Instead of breaking up over it, the opposite has occurred. The take-home message (to me ) is that these two have progressed to a physical relationship which Gunther seems quite comfortable with. I doubt he wants to give it up any time soon. But hopefully he will get confident enough to talk to her about it.

Bets is looking good in her costume, and maybe making a man out of Gunther, too! Roll with it, Gunny! You’re not likely to find better around here….
