Saturday can’t come soon enough bringing and end to this sorry excuse of a story.

Well i didn’t see THAT coming, so much for Luann standing up for herself.

Sad that it didn’t happen! Luann needs a second job?

So Luann’s gonna work half time at the preschool and then help out a the Fuze? Like that’s gonna happen…no wait, she’ll use the extra time to study…no no wait…she’ll use the extra time to clean her room !! I’d write more but I’m rolling on the floor laughing…

So did Luann quit or did she accept the transfer with fewer hours? In the real world, either way she couldn’t have caught up with Tara that quickly if Tara left immediately instead of waiting around.

Luann is being transferred to a different school with less hours.

Forget the kids…they’ve already forgot about you. Try an career in finance!

It’s funny.

For all those years Luann has done well with the kiddies, there was never a compliment from Mr. Purgas nor an opportunity offered for promotion.

But the moment she screws up one time, it’s “Your hours have been cut!”

And chances are, Lu’s hours might have been cut whether Tara had shown up or not.

And “Folks” wonder why people aren’t returning to the workplace.

Does the town have ….?

Sorry, Tara. Luann is not you. Go and reform someone else who wants to be reformed. And wreak havoc on this person. I will pray for this person. Just go away from Luann.

Tara may be abrasive but at least she has a backbone

I feel sorry for the children, they are the losers, they like Luann and I think she likes teaching them and is good at it!

Wanna bet the kids will wail about wanting Luann back, driving parents crazy and goes to Purgus to get Luann back.

Now comes the part where Tara feels bad, so she goes to Luann’s boss, apologizes for trespassing or something, and he decides Luann is completely blameless and gives Luann her job back. (Nothing in my speculation makes any sense, so it’s perfect!)

Tara’s shirt changed in panel 2? Too bad Luann’s situation didn’t change. She did have an uninvited guest so she is blessed to have any position with that organization

Yesterday Tara had bigger lips, today she just changed the color of her top. Maybe tomorrow she’ll just “bust” outta’ that top, no matter what color it is. After Steffie, and now Tara, even Bernice will start looking good to me.

I was feeling depressed already and today’s comic strip from Luann just made it worse, thanks a lot Greg!

I don’t understand though. How is Luann going to teach archery to kids at $40 an hour if she doesn’t know archery and Tara won’t teach her?

With a whole week about Luann going to college and now her hours getting cut in half, the next arc is set up for her figuring what she wants to do in life. Brad will probably be mentioned about his calling as a firefighter, TJ, as a chef/cook, maybe even Delta pursuing politics.

Sue the school for having a fence low enough to hop over.

Luann’s subdued conflicted expression speaks volumes. Tara, her well-meaning friend, has put her in a worse position. Luann wants to blow up on her, but she’s holding back and settling instead on disappointment.

It’s time for Luann to find what she wants to do with her life. Find another job, possibly without a worm as a boss, decide if she wants to graduate and in what. Talking to Tara will definitely help her understand all of this. Hopefully Jack will join them (and Bernice will NOT join them).

Now, what would have happened it the kids all stepped over that ridiculously low fence and became engaged with Tara to learn about archery on the outside?

This storyline is starting to become pointless. Will the reduced hours at least lead to Luann getting involved in something else?

Yeeeeaah, yesterday I was wondering if Luann actually lost her job or not, and we’d know today….. Now we know. The only thing left to close out this week’s story arc is tomorrow we need to see Luann telling Tara to go take a long walk off a short pier..

Monday, Luann’s new job will be half day childcare worker at another elementary!

So she could start looking for another job.

Many places will not hire someone out of work. Yes, it’s stupid, but that happens.

Well patented misdirection play. Thought Luann had followed Tara’s lead and quit, but no she took the shorter hours. Great setup for that surprise. Luann is risk-adverse apparently. Let’s see if that changes their relationship.

Back of the shirt reads, “Teachers last”. Luann was told it means, “They endure” when she was hired. She just found out it means, “The last to get any respect.”

Isn’t it great to have such a wonderful friend who is looking out for your best interest

Did Luann ever get the chance to explain what happened? If so, I missed it…more like the mom caught a glimpse, instantly decided to hate what she saw, and raised a stink. If SHE had walked over to get a better idea of what she was looking at, the whole mess may have been avoided. Not excusing Tara for jumping inside – Luann should have made her stay outside the fence. Not on the property, not (as much of) a liability.

This is one reason why people are quitting jobs in droves. Little respect, bad pay, long hours, and terrible bosses. Businesses need to get out of the 19th century mindset that employees are basically slaves who will put up with anything just to hold onto their awful jobs.

Hahaha it’s funny because this is all her fault.

In all honesty this is what I would do. No drama or threats. Take the lower hours and go right out and find a better job, and then go back in and quit. I’ve done just that before.

Nothing like a sympathetic friend.

Its all moot: I hope Luann realizes that Tara will never be able to get her current salary at any job and has severely hurt of being an education. #BadInfluence!!

Luann: “Oh, I’m sorry, precious kids I’ve spent so much time with! The mean mommy and Mr. Principal are taking me away from this place, just because I taught you a FUN THING. Goodbye forever!” I mean, if she’s gonna get the raw job, she may as well rub it in.

Obviously not a public school, they’d be a union rep to help Luann with this situation.

Why has no one focused on the fact that Tara caused all this! She stepped over the fence before Luann had a chance to stop her! She is a bad friend and doesn’t seem sorry she caused Luann to lose a job with kids she loved.

On Oct 25 she said “but I love the kids” and now she won’t see them again.

So our indomitable heroine once again folds her tent and goes quietly into the night. And takes her pair with her. For those of us that anticipated a new trajectory for Luann’s life… OH WELL!

just a story-telling device, folks. Greg decided to transition Luann to someplace else, so this little tableau of drama was how he did it. Question is what comes next? The Fuse? Full-time Teacher’s assistant? Wienie-World (following in Brad’s footprints)? ….

Disappointed that Luann seems to not have a backbone during all this. I was hoping for better.

So is Luann headed for Kidz 0.5? Where they have twice the kids and eight-foot high fences topped with razor wire? Peachy!

Tara says the word “quit” 4 times – but never “fired”. Things that make you go- hmmm.

There IS something left to quit, and her name is Tara.

I am sure Luann can get employment at the FUSE, but Nancy and TJ will probably make her actually work.Tara is probably right in so far as Luann has been too comfortable in her job and didn’t realize how underpaid she was.She needs to be challenged and pushed to develop a little more. I’d love to see her encounter Delta home on vacation and compare some life experiences. Luann is being left behind as Gunther, Tiffany, Brad, and even Bernice are growing.

Luann can’t grow a pair. She’s female.

Luanne got her hours cut in half, and almost lost her job… All because of Tara. It’s true: “If you run with dogs, you’re gonna get fleas”…… Luann needs to end her friendship with Tara. Hopefully, we’ll see that tomorrow.

Unless I am mistaken, those 50% hours are at a different school. That, in itself, may provide some excitement and new opportunities.

Ways to get rid of people without firing them.

(I knew a preacher once who tore up a church. He explained that the bylaws said he stayed until both church and preacher agreed otherwise and HE did not agree to leave. They asked me and I told them he was right, that was the wording. It did not, however, say his pay or benefits could not be changed, even down to zero — more than he was worth even then, but effective. (Unlike Article 3. Section 1 of the Constitution which says : The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour, and shall, at stated Times, receive for their Services, a Compensation, which shall not be diminished during their Continuance in Office.) I suggested they might want to amend the bylaws after he left, though. Don’t know if they ever did. He didn’t leave until his wife left him and he had no other source of income, nobody else to belittle.)

I agree with other posters – it is ALWAYS better to stay on the job while looking for something new. Luann’s only problem might be if the place she applied to called the school for a referral. I’m not sure what is legal now days, but I don’t think they can disclose disciplinary actions. Anyone know for sure?

definitely…..look for a job while you have a job. You are a much more attractive candidate that way. Luann did not impulsively quit as Tara would have. She did the right thing in my view especially since she likes working with kids. She’s learned from this and will now move on with greater understanding of the liability issues in her job.

A pair of what, Tara?

It’s really not fair to label the parent a Karen. She saw a questionable situation and reported it, advocating for her child as all parents are told to do, without interrupting the lesson. Probably thought Luann would get a slap on the wrist at best. The bigger issue is the Principal breaking the law on staffing ratios, and of course Luann who really has become a well socialized young lady/product of the school system. If that’s a compliment.

In a public school district near me a PARENT was arrested for not having registered after coming on School property. Why is it so hard to accept the fact students are killed or maimed at school each year. This is not a fun subject.

Why doesn’t Luann experience any character development? Her supporting cast is reasonably interesting. Luann is not on any level. So far, she doesn’t deserve a life. She needs a little “Wallace the Brave” injected into her tapeworm existence.

Now you got more time to improve your archery skills…..

Funny how she leaves out the “moved to another building” part. Maybe the kids didn’t mean all that much to her after all. Tara’s a terrible friend. No “sorry about that job I know you loved” or anything. In the end, of course, this was just a vehicle to change things up for Luann. Just as well.

In public schools, kids are never 1st.

She’d be better off quitting as far as I’m concerned….

In terms of “growing a pair”, I hope Luann does so in order to tell Tara that she likes her job in spite of not making as much $ as Tara and that she doesn’t want to give it up and that it’s her decision one way or the other not Tara’s.

In the middle panel, Tara’s shirt is almost the same color as Luann’s. Do I dare ask what “Grow a pair means”?

Luann is such a weakling (not physically, but in spirit .She has no gumption, as the old saying goes)….

So much about this arc is wrong: that fence is way too low – no school playground would have a fence you can easily swing your leg over. The child care aide to children ratio is absurd. She would have another aide with her for a group that large. That she can legally be in charge of that many kids without having a license/degree/certification is ridiculous. Tara had a good beginning, but like Bernice, has become irritating and unwelcome.

Sadly that is what happens to most educators, low pay, high stress and no support. So most just give up and quit!
