Of the many people I lost in this life, this last two years, I lost a step daughter, and then her mother.

This strip is just a little bit too close to home.

There are many ways to lose someone.

At first I was afraid that the door might contain a closet full of anxieties. I’m happy that wasn’t the direction Pastis took. Very nice strip.

Like Freddy and the Dreamers? Fun Fact: Peter Noone, Herman of Herman’s Hermits, told the story on his SiriusXM that Freddy Garrity, Freddy of the group, was the Noone family milk man. The group would close out a gig at a pub and Freddy would go to the dairy hook the horse to the wagon and make the deliveries before going home for the day. Cool story

My first Mother’s Day without my daughter, my first born. She died very unexpectedly in Nov. and had just turned 49. If only I could talk to her one more time.

A very sensitive, thoughtful strip for those who have lost someone, especially mothers. Nice Job, Stephan. You’ll be hard-pressed to do better next year.

And kudos on the universality of the last line. We need the dreamers to progress; don’t wake them prematurely. Life will do that soon enough.

I frequently dream about dogs I had long ago, and I’m always aware of my current age, so I am always amazed (in the dreams) that this or that pet can be 45 or whatever years old. Being that I’m aware of my current age in dreams, when I find myself back in a school situation, I think “How can I be in high school again? I’m 71 years old!”. Same thing in a dream last night: I was “me” but my parents were talking to me like I was a teenager! As for today’s comic, my problem is that if I could speak to my parents or grandparents again, there are so many things that I want to ask them about that “one last chance” wouldn’t give me near enough time!

Mother’s Day memories.

Just talked to my Mom. She’s 92 and going pretty strong. She’ll outlive me, I imagine. Her mother lived in three centuries, born in 1898 and died in 2001.

Mm, yes, that would be wonderful.

Sometimes Rat is an amazing friend.

I miss my wife. I wish I could have a conversation with her again. The hallucinations I see of her are not anything like the real version

There are so many friends I miss.

They cannot come back to you but you can go to them.
