That seventh panel reminds me a bit of the Quaker Oats’ infinite regress, only this time it’s a cat on a TV with cats in the TV, with yet another cat on a TV inside the TV, ad infinitum …

I love that Mouse is the model for Puck’s video chart. Somewhere, I have a photo of Miss Kitty sleeping atop one of those Very Cool Robots!

Well, at least the Man is useful for something! (according to Elvis)

When I bought a heated cat bed for Silver, he initially luxuriated in it, rolling around in Feline ecstasy for about 15 minutes. He suddenly sat straight upright, staring at me; I know the message was “What took you so long to get this? I should have had one of these years ago!”

I suddenly feel so, so very old.

Shed cat fur inside old TVs can do unsettling things when combined with high voltage…

Ah, the VCR. One of the greatest mysteries of my childhood! What does it stand for? (I like Burt’s suggestion.)

My thin screen iMac and TV would not make those kitties happy.

The adorable details always make me smile—like the wad of aluminum foil on top of one of those “Victorian” TVs of my childhood. Only us oldies understand it’s importance to one’s viewing pleasure !

Obviously, VCR meant Victorian Crook Robots. Them robots is always eevil. Eeevilllll.

I still own a VCR for one specific reason… To prove to any doubters that Han shot first!

If it belongs to Elvis, it might be called a “Very Cranky Robot”. Pets become like their owners, after all.

Now if you can remember how to program one to record your favorite shows, you really are old. That was of course before they decided to start scrambling all the channels forcing you rent one of their over priced annoying cable boxes.

VCR – Vintage Collectible for Ryan?

Why does the Man have a bunch of tube tvs? Does he collect vintage video games, like my dad?

Where does the man find all those old TVs, I mean self-heating cat beds?

I’m actually sort of surprised at myself at how much I really don’t miss VCRs—what we’ve got now does pretty much blow them out of the water. :P

After a few years the drive belts of VCRs tend to stretch and wear out. A repair manual and several belts purchased along with the VCR have kept it going for years. Finding a business that transfers VCR tapes to DVD is even better. Finding a home unit to do that better yet. (Some of those businesses will only transfer your own videos and will not touch commercial movies. Stupid copyright laws.)

Computer monitors too, back when they used to be big and bulky. If I was in my home office, and my computer was on, chances are you would find my kitty purring and fast asleep on top of the monitor.

When we bought our first ‘thin’ TV. Big Gray and his bro took it as a challenge. One of them was always carefully perched on the top. Amazed me they never toppled it over. They finally gave up after several stern lectures….and moved to sleeping in the exit tray of the laser printer.

I returned home last night from a trip to the National Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB to find one of Jules’ cousins (and a very large one) crawling around on my living room carpet. How he got into the house is a mystery, but the July bug was rescued and released outside before the cats noticed him!

The purpose of a VCR is to flash “12:00”.

TV collecting. Hmm… Why not? I have some old German radios. I’d love to have one of those futuristic Dumont TVs.

Our cats were very unhappy with us when we got rid of our old computer monitors for new ones several years back. Those were their favorite nap spots. Never really went for the TV though (except to stand in front of the screen and swat at “hockey men” when a game is on).

Video Cassette Recorder

Our small town local bookstore had a store cat who just LOVED to nap on top of the computer monitor. He was rather miffed when they were forced to upgrade to a flatscreen.

While I don’t remember our family cats on the TV (in FRONT of is another story), somewhere in the family photos there is a picture of Diana contentedly snoozing on the TV while Mom and Dad watched election results, and another of her looking down with interest at whatever Dad was doing on the computer. I plan to set up a CRT television for old game playing at some point, so we’ll see how that works as a kitty magnet.

The Man has good taste.

Thanks for clearing that up Elbiff. Now I know for sure that you also sound like you are complaining. ( I kinda already knew that, but Elbiff didn’t know that).

I’m sure everyone has already said it, but I’m late to the party today… I spy Baba Mouse as a young kitty atop the TV!

After years of people just throwing away old TV’s, they are now collectible and people want them (if they work, that is)!

My previous cat, Bob, used to sleep on top of the cable box on top of the TV. Which was an especially amazing feat because it had about the same footprint as a paperback, possibly even smaller, and he was a fairly long cat. But he’d manage to scrunch himself up enough to not actually fall off it, although he definitely overflowed it.

First time we brought home a flat-screen TV, we set it in the dining room in the box (it was actually for the summer cottage, so we were planning on just bringing it down in the box). Bob came down and stretched out on top of the box, clearly recognizing that this would be the only time he’d be able to do that with this TV lol

My techie friend who is an awful lot like the Man (even looks like him) has been known to bring home old technology to fix up and sell, mostly free curbside hauls at the end of the school year. He says: "I think I had read panel four before I realized that wasn’t actually a cat bed! I do remember thinking during panel two, hm, that reminds me of a Sony Trinitron TV, but I was still waiting for the “real” heated cat bed reveal."

Soon they’ll forget what a DVD is, too (if they haven’t already)

I had a 30" CRT TV that I just junked recently. It still worked but I just couldn’t wrestle it anymore. My cats were not pleased. You don’t get very warm falling off the top of a flat screen TV.
