“Some of us are going to Orlando.” Hmm. Maybe the ones with mouse ears? I don’t remember seeing all that many birds at WDW, but it’s been a few years since I’ve been there.
Birds can be weather if we want them to be, Lupin. (The bird in the bikini in the seventh panel is killing me, in a “why did I see that?” sort of way.)
Tommy’s back! I love all the birds flying with their travel bags. One fall I saw a large flock of robins descend into my trees and yard. There were too many to count. Another time it was a huge flock of yellow warblers.
Nice continuity! ❤ Lupin (and Puck previously) continues to protest that birds are weather, no matter how much evidence there is to the reverse, eh Elvis? ;-) http://www.breakingcatnews.com/comic/heres-elvis-with-the-weather/
Oh, what a lot of details! Sunglasses, sun visors, broad-brim hats, flip-flops on their claws, shorts, the (as mentioned above) bikini, and the “Am I on TV” bird is wearing a T-shirt that says, “I’m local”!
I is just intrigued why Tommy ol’ boy hasn’t pounced upon a bird and eaten one yet. All cats I knows looks at birds with great interest like : oooh, flying food!
The birds are going to their winter homes, the equinox is this Wednesday, Marie and I are ready for Fall. After everything, we are more than ready to see the back of this Summer.
I enjoy watching the white pelicans practice forming up for their migration. It takes a few days of having different birds in different positions in the Great V before they can establish which are strongest (toward the front) and the weakest (who benefit aerodynamically from being at the back). It looks funny because they form a perfect V that suddenly falls apart, just like somebody forgot to check something at home before the trip. :)
Personally, I’m looking forward to the cold weather and lower AC bills, breaking out the flannel sheets, cuddling up in bed, making stews in the slow cooker, having the windows open at night, wearing my fluffy terrycloth robe, and no mosquitos.
Well, I feel like crap. Friday afternoon I came down with a fever of 100.9 and severe fatigue. Went home and have been here ever since. Got tested yesterday but they said because it was so soon after symptoms it may show a false negative. I AM FULLY VACCINATED!!! Fevers have been up and down, peaking at 101.4, then down to 97.7, then back up. Not hungry at all, just drinking a lot of water and sitting watching TV or doing things on my tablet. Let me reiterate. I feel like crap! If not COVID, not sure what it may be. Don’t have any aches (flu), no runny nose or cough. Just a fever and severe fatigue. So much to do this week and the coming weekend that I likely will not be doing. {SIGH}.
Birds are not weather, as Lupin says, but migrating birds DO take advantage of weather fronts. Birders know the best time to see migrating birds in the fall is right after a cold front moves through.
Speaking of a bird a bird front, just had one here Thursday. Had gone out to pick up some pizza and came home to something like eight or ten turkeys up in the upper yard, along the edge of the road. Got out of the car and the turkeys went up the road a little bit and into the woods just above the property. Looking to get a better count of them (and unsure I had time to go in and get my camera), I went up to see just how many of them there were. Eight to ten was just the tip of the iceberg (or in this case flock) as there were like twenty-four to thirty turkeys in the woods. Really wish I’d gotten my camera, but by the time I had the flock would have moved on given my luck.

Pack up all my bags and go
To the South, not too slow
Bye ’til springtime
Miami beach waits for me
Orlando, too, wait and see
Bye ’til springtime

Donning now my mouse ears and bikini,
Got my raft and surf board for Miami
Stop at power lines along the way

It’s beautiful and that’s for sure
Tommy’s beautiful
Birds are beautiful
I love the birds, let’s watch them fly away
Nature life’s where my soul is (Soul is)
Nature life’s where my home is
And baby all I need for you to know is
Georgia draws the birds, she makes us smile today
Georgia shows where her soul is (Soul is)
And she knows what a poem is
And baby all I need for you to know is
Each and every single day
I know I’m going to visit here to chase my blues away
Because this strip is grand
Tommy likes the birds, his gentle caring way
Helps them bare their little souls-es (Souls-es?)
Creatures know of his kindness
Let’s stand back
And let fall come through
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
It’s beautiful
