I think Lupin views his bell as some sort if medal, and he has no intention of losing it. Since he can’t hear it, he doesn’t understand how anoying it can be for everyone else.
Kicks to the head if a kitty has claws can be a problem. When Moose and Blackjack tussle and Blackjack kicks Moose like that, he ends up with a bleeding scratch right above his eye. Then it’s Neosporin time.
Maybe due to his deafness, Lupin doesn’t understand that his trophy is a bell that you ring by swatting it. In boxing, “ring his bell” means “to strike with a violent blow to the head, especially as might stun or concuss.”
I love the Tusslemania arcs! They kind of remind me of back in the pre-cable days in the ‘70s of watching Championship Wrestling from Florida with Gordon Solie on WTOG TV-44. Us kids would cheer for the good guys like Dusty Rhodes, Wahoo McDaniels, Superstar Billy Graham and the rest of the good guys battle the bad guys like Harley Race, Abdul the Butcher and Ivan Koloff among other villains. At the time we thought Tampa was the mecca of wrestling as there were always championships changing hands on TV and over at the armory in West Tampa or Robards Arena in Sarasota where they filmed a lot of the matches, Then my Dad got cable in ’77 or so and we got WTBS TV17 from Atlanta and found that there was a Championship Wrestling from Georgia with Gordon Solie also hosting it and many of the same heroes and villains from Florida, some allegedly “injured” and out of action in Florida. It finally dawned on us kids that this wrestling just “might” be scripted and while Tampa does have a lot of history with wrestling, it ws not necessarily the mecca of it all. In addition, occasionally I would see a friend with a cast or bandaged up because they tried some of the wrestling moves like Dusty’s “Bionic Elbow” in the backyard or garage. After awhile we would hear the disclaimer on WTOG and TBS: “Kids, do not try this at home….” Good memories and I truly have been enjoying this arc.
Ooh, I hope we get to see the other cats taking sides! Tommy is clearly in Elvis’ corner, but I am not sure who else will be. Sir Fig will definitely go with Lupin, and probably Tabitha too, but Burt and Sophie could go either way. Also, the match has not started yet. Not cool, Lupin.
Let’s remember how our cats play fight in real life if you have two or more. They look like they’re trying to murder each other. Ten minutes later, both are asleep, snuggled up together, best of buds.
Waaahhh!! I’m too excited to decide what to comment on first: the bell tolls for thee – I called it!, Elvis rear toe beans – squeee!, and oh no! Violence on BCN! Elvis, you need hugs…that looked painful, poor kitty.
I hope the whole party picks sides and caterwauls loudly as lupin and Elvis roll around on the floor in the kibble — and then the Woman walks in. The one human sound in that days strip, alone in its sound bubble…" LUPIN!!"
OFF-TOPIC: GoComics fixed the notification click so it takes you to the proper comment. They did not fix the problem where someone liking a response to your comment generates another notification to you. Since they had to change the code to match the advertisers’ code changes, this would have been the ideal time to fix this problem, which I have identified and reported.

Carl Douglas: Kung Fu Fighting
Elvis and Lupin were Kung Fu Fighting
Lupin moved fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightening
Can Elvis fight back with expert timing?
…….
They were two cool cats from the Big Pink House
They were fighting for the right to ring the bell as Elvis groused
Elvis made his case and then got kicked right in the face
Everyone said, Lupin have a care the way you’re fighting isn’t fair!
…….
Elvis and Lupin were Kung Fu Fighting
Lupin moved fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightening
Can Elvis fight back with expert timing?
…….
Puck and Tommy gasped in horror as Lupin made his kick
Will they intervene or will they just let it slip?
All of this for a bell, ringing like the bell from heck,
Somehow I don’t think this is gonna end well!
…….
Elvis and Lupin were Kung Fu Fighting

In fact it was a little bit frightening
Can Elvis fight back with expert timing?
