That’s a full sized tea cup. Are you sure it didn’t get borrowed from a nightstand or coffee table, Alice? We know that YOU know that the woman pours herself a cup of tea at 9:07 after making herself a snack plate.
Panel 3, there is a white thing: it took me a little to figure out that’s the “swoosh” line from Sophie swooshing the diary closed to hold it to her heart.
Sort of OT I attempted a watercolour of a sloth for a friend’s birthday card and it has made me appreciate Georgia’s painting techniques even more ! Before, I saw the overall affect but now I’m admiring all the strokes on Sophie’s pretty face.
*Fe-Anaro: Words are inadequate to express our gratitude. Not only did you show us immense kindness, but you restored to us our greatest treasure. Now our oath is fulfilled.
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: My staff and I were pleased beyond measure to take part in the fulfillment of your quest. What do you intend to do now?
Fe-Anaro: We plan to visit with Queen Mags in Afar for a time. Then my son Curu-Fin wishes to travel to Japan to meet with the Artisans there.
Mag-Lor: My brother Curu-Fin is second only to my father in creative skill.
Maed-Ros: Then we will return home to the Elven Realm.
Puckmosis: But aren’t your people angry with you? The Oath and all.
Fe-Anaro: We are not guilty of a fraction of what we are accused of. Still, there will be amends to be made. And now, we will take our leave with sincere thanks.
Iggy: Before you leave, I would like to give you my box I created to keep the silmarils in. I thought it was lost when I was shipwrecked, but my cousin Ziggy was able to save it.
Fe-Anaro: This was clearly a labour of love. I would be proud to house the silmarils in it.
Beatrixia: But it doesn’t seem right to keep such beautiful jewels in a box forever.

Kat-Mandu: Elvis, here is a papyrus for you. It’s written in Tengwar Script.
Elvis-Anum: This is very pleasing! Gather around, friends. Here’s what Mag-Lor writes.
How considerate! It’s sweet that the Robber Mice saw a cup of tea fall off a truck and immediately thought of Sophie. I bet by pure coincidence it turned out to be one of Sophie’s favorites. Once again, Monday cannot get here soon enough. This strip really reminded me of that Sunday with Angus leading all the lost and lonely cats to the Big Pink House. I cannot wait to see what the cats of the past have in store for Sophie!
“As guarded and fragile as myself” is just true enough to not come across as corny cliché. I was still misty-eyed over that when I landed on, “this cup of tea fell off a truck!” An awkward way to make a kindness more casual under any circumstance, but a China cup? Of hot tea? I’m snorting at the vision of it falling off a truck!
We will soon learn all about Lady Jane’s life, hopes and fears. I hope the diary makes Sophie more willing to come out from under the bureau, once she has her cup of tea.
This is awesome! Sophie will be content to snuggle in for a bit now, concentrating on someone else. So… is she going to learn something in that diary that will propel her out from under there, in search of somecat to share all this with?
Chapter 2, Sylvia comes to the Big Pink Cat House.
It was a dark and stormy night, the wind howled menacingly, blowing the rain in a near horizontal sheet of stinging droplets. A small, almost inaudible noise at the door alerted Lady Jane to an unexpected presence at the her door. Upon peering out she spied a young raven haired little thing, huddled in the shelter of her vestibule, soaked to her slender, sleek bones, dripping wet and shivering. Jane quickly opened the door bidding, whom she would soon learn was named Sylvia, in out of the raging storm. “Welcome to my Big Pink Cat House,” Lady Jane offered as she hustled Sylvia to a warm quiet room, where she could warm herself by the fire and dry off.
Lady Jane, being the ever gracious host, quickly fetch a warm bit of refreshment as Sylvia sat, clad only in a soft towel, letting the chill of the tempestuous night recede from her body, in front of the crackling fire. “Now tell me, how did you come to be out on a night like this my lovely little thing?” Jane inquired, “And what could ever bring you to my doorstep?”
In a soft sweet voice, Jane was informed by Sylvia that she was, at her tender young years, cast out alone in this cruel world. The storm had taken her by surprise. as she wandered the town, contemplating her fortunes and how she should ever make her way in this harsh cruel world. Sylvia explains that she was near to collapsing when she spotted the Big Pink Cat House through the driving rain, making her way to the front door.
Lady Jane enquired as to Sylvia’s plan for making her way in life, to which Sylvia confided she had no idea what she was to do. She had no family, no home and no prospects. “Well for tonight, you shall stay here my lovely Sylvia,” Lady Jane exclaimed. Rest yourself now and tomorrow we shall talk of you future.
One of the first things that I noticed is that the diary is cursive while the dialog is printed. I absolutely love the subtle details that Georgia puts in her work.
Last night I decided to get out a couple of sheets of paper and fold some origami. The papers were rectangular, so I took a strip off each to make them squares.
And the cats arrived to “help”! So I folded the extra strips of paper into a pair of jumping frogs and made them spring off the table to the floor – with two cats scrambling after them! Origami for kitties!

If you would read Jane’s log, love
What a tale her thoughts could tell
With the care of two kind mousies
You’ll be sipping warm tea that fell
A house now dark in your fortress strong
In sight of Tommy’s feet
You know life can be sweet
And we hope that you will be happy
As long as Jane’s a ghost that you can see
You never thought it could be this way
And we’ve got to say that it just gets better
We all are sad when things go wrong
Now that feeling’s gone
And it won’t be coming back
