I was happily getting down to just 2 cats. Natural changes, no harm done, now there are 4 cats living with me again. I’ve had as many as 9 at one time. It was a herd of cats at dinner time.
OT I forgot to post about it, but Monday was the one year anniversary of bringing home my guinea pigs, Freddie and Colby Jack. Rest assured, they received plenty of pets and treats. These boys have changed so much. Colby Jack is very affectionate, and Freddie is a purr machine. Having them has also calmed me through many difficult moments. Hard to believe they have been part of my home for a year, but so happy.
As I said, our resistance was futile when it came to cats in need and being offered a chance to be foster cat parents, as you can see by the two newest permanent Board members of Giblet & Belle Press, Hamilton & Holmes.
Who is cutting onions?! I just lost my little (almost 17 year old) boy on Monday, so Ora Zella & Iggy finding forever homes has made me smile. Ora Zella & Beatrix are my FAVORITE kitties (DON’T TELL THE OTHERS!) so I’m glad there will be more of Ora Zella!
Awesome, though The Man and The Woman scared the heck out of the former “escapees” and Puck by dragging out the suspense a bit as shown in panel 3 but all is great by panel 4!
This goes well with a cute Mother Cat/ Kitten/ Baby tweet which came my way this AM:
Let’s hope the new kittens will grows up into fierce mousey hunters. At least the hyperactive kitty will obviously pounces upon and eats them pesky mices.
The biggest difference between this family and ours is that we’ve never bothered to pretend we were ever merely going to foster a cat or cats. It’s always pretty much “yeah, we’ll take ‘em…”.
Foster fail. I know Shelly (of TinyKittens) has 3 cats of her own, siblings, all tuxies, known as ‘The Teens’. I suspect they originally were fosters. She also has—TK has, really, the two medical fosters: Cassidy a/k/a ‘Miracle Kitten’ a/k/a Puff a/k/a PuffPuff, who was born with only stubs for rear legs. It’s surprising how well he gets around. The other medical foster is Aura a/k/a Auracuda a/k/a Cudaloo, etc. She’s part dog. Her palate was extremely separated from birth on, and when she reached full size, the gap was closed using a bone from a dog. She’s a gorgeous cat, and when there’s kittens, she helps teach them how to cat. She learned from the late Grandpaw Mason.
Ok, this officially beats my record. At one time I had five cats, every one of them except one were strays that people abandoned by the family cottage. I’m down to just one now, and she’s seventeen years old
Both panels 3&4 are perfect! I love how OZ and Puck are clinging to each other with Iggy tentatively peeking around them, and Elvis’s joyful announcement at the end. I have my two current cats due to a lack of will power as well
Our clowder started out as 1 many years ago. Over the years it has reached its present limit of 5. This limit is set by the number of Litter Robots we can afford (3) and how well some of the cats have retained their toilet training. We still have 3 “regular” litter boxes as well. Yes, that might seem like a lot, but from the point of view that there are no “surprises” dealing with felines not getting to a litter box in time, it’s worth it.
Iggy looks excited, Puck worried but resigned to the inevitable, and Ora Z terrified of loosing Puck and Iggy. And then the final panel Puck looks thrilled and Iggy and Ora Z thrilled at still being with Puck.
Aaaannnd, all is as it should be. Until a stray finds its way to their door, or someone they know has to move into pet-unfriendly housing and needs a new home for their cat(s), or any of the other ways a cat in need can come to their attention.
