The monster’s line, “Big shiny toy for you under the bed” reminds me of some chat messages I have been getting recently about my package being held up at the post office and they need my address so they can send it to me. I’m just as suspicious as Calvin is; they aren’t going to paralyze me with some vile secretion.
A delightful strip which shows again Hobbes’s feline and human sides. Watterson explains in The Calvin and Hobbes Tenth Anniversary Book that he saw Hobbes as more feline than human but had to give him some human qualities which Calvin could relate to.
At least you know what Hobbes’ is truly loyal to….his stomach! I am kinda wondering how neither one of them smelled the fish if it was under the bed before they turned in for the night. Probably for the same reason they didn’t see the monsters under there before they climbed in bed.
Seeing Hobbes walk in a circle before lying down reminds me of the cat me and my family had in my teenage years and early adulthood doing so. Our current and past dogs have also done it, but Hobbes doing it reminds me more of our old cat.

As long as Hobbes can pounce on the monsters and beat them in a fight, there’s nothing to worry about.

The monsters have a minifridge under the bed just so they can keep the salmon fresh.

Apart from the privileged information, basic instinct of the feline will take over the social attachments and he is giving in to the trade off!

Salmon? I thought Hobbes loved tuna.

If Hobbes loves salmon so much, maybe he could join the Alaskan grizzlies on the salmons’ upstream migration.

Are they “ill-tempered”?
Well, that’s a start…

When it comes to salmon, Hobbes will fall hook, line and sinker.

Love Calvin and Hobbes! That kid, ( and artist ) sure has some refreshingly funny vivid imagination. Wish he never put down his brush and pen.
