For those who were wondering why some of us favored Toni and Brad eloping, here it is. This time it’s not an interfering in-law, it’s a so-called “friend”, who one poster praised to the heavens this weekend as someone who would give the ‘shirt off his back.’

But I’m sure the wedding apologists who post here will find a way to rationalize all this and insist that this Toni and Brad are totally obliged to endure this elaborate three-ring circus for their ‘friends and family’ .

Real friends don’t expect their pals to stage huge, costly parties for everyone else but the participants to enjoy.

The only ceremony that is staged solely for friends and family, and not the participants, is a funeral. Right now, this event is beginning to resemble a funeral for Brad and Toni’s future…

I really hope we see Brad confront TJ soon about his taking over the wedding planning.Granted, the conversation might wind up going something like this:Brad: “TJ, what happened to the real wedding planner?”TJ: “I sent her away. You don’t need to pay a wedding planner — when your best friend is ready to do that job for free!”If Brad is thinking correctly, which may or may not be the case, he should next point out that it won’t do him much good to get TJ’s wedding planning services for free if TJ winds up ordering a bunch of things that Brad and Toni are going to have to pay for and don’t really need or want.

Obnoxious, not funny, not entertaining. Eloping is the only romantic option I can foresee. Brad and Toni are my favorite characters, but I’d be happy to see this storyline end- with the two of them running off into the sunset, getting married, no “friends,” no family.

Well Maybe this year since Luann IS supposed to be interested in working with kids, maybe just maybe team evans with show her in a ECD ( early childhood development) class or some type of ED course. Course that would not be an elective and probably not as interesting as say an art class with a weird prof and different type of classmates… but. . Come to think of it, we have never seen any of the other castmates ( Bernice, Gunther, Tiffany), in any type of class Like we did when they were in high school. Guess college classes are just not as interesting and I have to remember that Luann is at Pitts JC and the others are at Moony Uni.

This SO brings back memories of my father trying to take over our wedding. We finally did everything ourselves when it got the point where the only choice of our own would have been being there.Brad and TJ’s habit has been for Brad to be steamrolled, bulldozed, ridden over by TJ – but this time Brad has been growing, trying new things because marrying Toni and having the day be right for her is so incredibly important to him.So, will Brad’s growing continue? Is today (comic strip time, not 3D time) the day that we see Brad force TJ to ACTUALLY LISTEN? For Brad this wedding is getting him a lot more than his bride. The growth displayed will permit him to move in new directions as a character. Many of us have had Pivotal Events in life where we learn with one step at a time to morph into someone with new strengths because what we learned them for was so very important to us. It is actually pretty much the norm to do so – trying on new strengths first in what matters to us. Three examples from my life: I was very shy until (originally as director’s assistant) i was asked to fill a role in a small community theater’s play. My acting was not good, just sufficient, but i learned how to move outside myself just enough to use that trick for getting past shyness. The huge one was how markedly i changed during my mother’s final illness in my early 20s; people who knew me before barely knew me during or after. Then after that i got the urge to learn, and the sacrifices i was willing to make to get an education would have shocked many.As far as i know, we all have such events. I coukd be wrong. Some people might always be who they were from birth to grave despite decades. Among those i know, though, important things triggering growth and exploration are the norm.I think that this time Brad will grow again, and will startle TJ by standing up to him. What happens to TJ and their friendship then will depend on how readily TJ can grow.

2I am genuinely sad that this arc is continuing. I had really hoped that TJ’s lines in the previous panel were going to just be a joke. While I will rally and work to get “into” this week’s “TJ Messes Up the Wedding Planning” segment of the arc…. to me it feels like too much. Here is what I would LIKE to happen:1. Brad should simply step in and tell the Wedding Planner Lady that TJ is not really able to make these decisions and so whatever the two of you have agreed upon is null and void.2. Brad should simply (and kindly) tell TJ to stop, and then he (Brad) should sit down and work with the planner to make the decisions, quickly and efficiently. Since it is only Monday, I know it is extremely unlikely that my above two ideas will happen anytime soon. With the above said, however, I will also wait patiently. Perhaps Greg has some fun and interesting aspects of the story he wants to present this week. Perhaps I am just not seeing what some of the possibilities are for this week to be great. So, I am confident that there will be something in store this week that I hadn’t considered that will make the week enjoyable. This seems to me like the first time in quite a while where Greg has had a story arc extend continuously longer than three weeks (of course, excluding the Sunday efforts, which are outliers in terms of most arcs).

One thing that may be overlooked is that TJ is a very good and adroit negotiator. Look at the number he pulled on Ann EIffel. He needs to run something somewhere, LEGAL please! He is doing this because he likes to control things, and he wants to help his best bro, and his lady, and its natural he does this. ANyone who has dealt with wedding planners knows that being able to negotiate is a great skill set to have. But Brad has to come in and control this, and find a way to get TJ to help, here and with the house, without controlling everything. THe problem with that? TJ might have hurt feelings. Man this is so like when I got married 41 years ago (lol). At the end all will work out though I am quite sure.

But my take on this is that TJ is genuinely taking this on. He understands better than Brad what the financial limitations are. He seems to be a genius at sort of haggling, which I hate hate. We use to have a Lebanese fellow in my department who would go to car dealer (on our behalf) because he LOVED the dickering process. He once reduced a car salesman to tears. TJ is in the sane category. Be smart Brad, but check your pocket book!
