Given Ann Eiffel’s tendency to make advances on anyone with whom she works (Zane, Brad, T.J.), it’s possible that today’s hand-holding with Prudence is a sign of things to come.

Oh my gosh! It looks like a relationship is in the works. But I was under the impression that Ann Eiffel was known to be an underhanded creep and pedophile. I wonder if Pru will get involved with her temporarily, only to find out later that she’s bad news?

But it seems that maybe Ann quickly spotted someone of her own orientation. As I recall, back in the past it was apparent that Ann had tried to seduce Bernice when she was in high school.

Come to think of it, Les already knows the orientations of both. And he knew it before suggesting the lingerie deal to Pru. Maybe Les had an ulterior motive in getting them together.

Ann must’ve been standing in the part of town (in which this strip is “set”), where all the silhouettes usually stand in the background in some of the panels, the whole time!

Some may think of this relationship (wow!) as “Ma Barker and her son”. But, then again, it was said that not even Ma Barker was “Ma Barker”, in her everyday persona…. so, with that being said, Where does the “Evil Ann” end, and the “everyday Ann” begin (the one where she possibly ‘relaxes’ the attitude she gives off, and the ‘wheeling and dealing’ tactic she always employs)? And ‘what up’ with Les’ “Oh, yeah!” reaction, to Ann’s remark to Pru in the final panel? Is it because Les expects his mom to be a handful to deal with, even for him? …..Or is it because these two can actually breathe the same air together only long enough to pull off some sort of scheme, collectively?

Either one of them, at any given time, seems to operate shadily, and you always question them, even when they flash a smile or seem to be relaxed in their demeanor. But two of them, in tandem? Or at least just being in the same room? Hmm….well, guess we’ll see….

Pru goes from girlfriend to parent. I wonder how far this thread can turn back on itself?

I think I’m going to be sick… I was looking forward to a lingerie party but nnot any more. Compared to her Les is almost human. He isn’t but compared to her he seemed less malignant.

It’s been quite a while since we’ve last saw Ann Eiffel.

That second panel is brilliant! Ann looks like a grown up Disney princess, with only the barest hint of the malevolence hiding beneath the facade showing.

And Pru, in the last panel, is a perfect illustration of “cognitive dissonance.” She wants to like Ann, because Ann represents a possibly winning buisiness opportunity and because she (Pru) is basically a trusting person, but… for some reason her Spidey senses are tingling!

Mind blown. Today’s strip actually surprised me… fairly pleasantly. Welcome back Ms. Eiffel. I cant wait till TJ see’s her again being that he runs Kafe Kablooie. This maybe the drama that the Fuse needs, no need for drama camp!

Gunther needs to get stranded in an elevator with Ann Eiffel overnight. If that doesn’t work – there’s always priesthood.

Finally up to date on this comic. I wanted to say how weird I find Pru’s face in this comic. It’s shaped funny and seems to give her a massive underbite/projecting jaw.

Also, Anne is the strangest character ever. She seems to literally exist only to sow discontent among the other characters. A handy thing for conflict… but it’s like she has no personality trait other than “Bothersome witch”. She doesn’t even seem to have a REASON for doing what she does!

Ann Eiffel is back. This should be very interesting.

So, is this … comic…becoming PRUANN?

IF this “Relationship” is a hint of things to come, I’ll be dropping the comic like a hot potato. Beware, Greg and Karen… you’re entering very, very dangerous ground.

I can’t really see TJ tolerating having Ann on the property. He’ll probably tell everyone what happened and say “Either she goes or I do.”

The last time my jaw dropped with comics was when the scene where it looked like Seth was outside of the bedroom door in 9chick! Love this!!!!

OMG! God help us if Ann is able to get her hooks into Kafe Kablooie and, somehow, get TJ booted! It would, certainly be revenge for her, but it also might be the vehicle that gets TJ out of the strip for a while, and out of Horner House, so that Brad/Toni can have the house to themselves, finally and start to plan a family, Shannon not withstanding. Whichever way that goes, I hope TJ gets his money out of it. He’s done well and deserves it.

So if Ann is Les’ mother, then she’s a lot older than we think, or she had Les at a very early age. Then again, Nancy still looks rather youthful!

I am glad that I went back ten years and read the strip to the present. Is she old enough to be Les’s mother? There was never any reference she was married or had kids. She might be a party planner. But Pru better watch out.

Wait, whoa, is Ann Eiffel Les’s mother? I am a bit confused here. The fact that she may be gay is very interesting, and should definitely cement the fact that Luannverse has grown to be very adult, and personally I have no issue, in fact I am just a prurient as the next person. My issue is with the kind of person Ann is; she is a real piranha of a person, so the pain she might inflict on Pru, or her “son” Les might be pretty bad. She might use Pru’s possible attraction to and involvement with her in a very harmful way, or? There could be a surprise. Surprise is the sine qua non of the strip lately, so stay tuned.

Scrolling through the comments I forgot how much and how many characters in the strip have been mowed down by Ann Eiffel over the years she character was introduced. TJ, Bernice, Shannon, Luann herself, the DeGroots. She being a relative of Mr. Grey, oh and Gunther? I would LOVE so see Crystal and her mix it up. I am glad Ann is back. I guess it’s clear that Millennial Karen is involved with the story lines in this strip now.

Now you have to doubly wonder about the legitimacy of the so-called “lingerie party” !

Okay, now it is scam in S-C-A-M letters.

Don’t know if Less mentioned it to his mom that Pru is a lesbian of if Ann is just picking up on it. Hard to believe Ann was married to a cop. But the likeness between their appearances – and their attitude – is hard to miss.

And TJ running Kafe Kablooi? As well as being the silent partner to Frank in the business?

OK, if in fact Ann is Les’s mother, and Les and Pru grew up in foster homes, and if Pru doesn’t know who her mother was (or if she does, I missed it), and if Pru and Ann have similar lips and hair, and if Les has similar hair…? And if there is yet another character who has similar hair and whose mother has (I think) never been identified…? Well, now I have to go look up a T. S. Eliot quote.

If anything, Les’ begrudged stance to all this are points in his favor in my book. This turned into a ‘Making a Deal with the Devil’ plot BIG TIME! Les knew this was risky, but wanted to help Pru. It explains a lot about him. Hope he truly turns from the Dark Side here – and we shall see.

Because of course Ann Eiffel is related to Les. He was getting to be a bit too sympathetic anyway, so let’s bring in a full-on mustache-twirler as our latest antagonist, and retcon her as his mother. Problem is, this raises some additional questions, like what happened to Les when she got transferred to Tokyo that one time.

Oh, and her sexual harrassment/attempted seduction of Bernice looks waaaaay worse now that we know she’s literally the mother of one of her classmates. It changes her from merely creepy and inappropriate to full-on child predator.

And Pru is really starting to look like a terrible judge of character, isn’t she? I don’t remember her always being this painfully naive and gullible. How did she last a day in NYC?

I thought it was impossible to feel sorry for Les. It just happened.

So why is Less having to pay court ordered money to Ann?

The Sunday Strip could be: One large frame with a big party and some of the characters modeling lingerie – then one small frame showing Puddles home alone peeing on the floor.

It finally happened. I never thought the day would come: I’m actually on Les’s side!! If ever a way to bury the hatchet with Gunther, this lady-dog here will be the catalyst.

I got one for you all. Try this one on for size. Shannon is Ann’s love child! Think about it, after Ann came back from Japan, she ran into Jonah. Once she realize she was with child she knew she couldn’t care for the baby, so she dropped her off to the dad. all Toni knows of Shannon’s mother is that she left. she probably didn’t even know her name. can you imagine how Ann feels about Jonah! That’s why when she saw Toni she said to Brad “you could do much better”. But now she’s back for revenge. This could tie up all the Loose Ends of Shannon’s mother backstory, why Ann and Toni don’t get along, and she can get back at TJ and Brad by her trying to get custody of Shannon…..not that she wants her, just to mess with everyone!

I think some of your logistics don’t work here, but I think it’s worth considering that Ann might be Shannon’s biological mother. I suggested as much about six hours ago and about 20 (main) posts up.

And just another little observation… “I love your hair” was also the first thing Pru said to Luann when they first met.
