Whew. A disaster averted! No more, please. You’re good friends and love each other as friends which is already priceless in itself as it is HARD to find true friends. You two already have each other. Treasure it and move on. Now, who will they meet?? We already know Jack is just a friend. Tiffany is not happy with Gunther and too preoccupied with Ann and her dad. And she won’t always be there for Gunther – she’s not built that way. Bernice could be a good choice if she is not so snarky and all. Not another Rosa either. He needs another Luann but with the potential of becoming more than friends.

Well Luann’s nose didn’t get stuck in Gunther’s.

How entirely expected.

That’s not the phone. When Luann farts, it sounds like bells.

Of the 20% it’s not-Jack on the phone; leading contenders are: Irma 10%, Les 8%, cold sales call 5%, a Nigerian prince 3%, field 13%. (Note: Total does not add to 20% due to rounding.)

These two do deserve each other.

Always struck me that Bach wanted to see just how many notes he could stuff into one piece. Seems to be a common thread among the majority of his organ pieces. Maybe he was just showing off ‘those crazy flipper fingers’. But I do like the Toccata though.

Well, I am glad that the romantic interlude appears to be at least temporarily averted.

I am still of the mindset that I sincerely hope Gunther is able to meet and become romantically involved with a NEW character. I think he deserves a fresh start. I think there is too much baggage for Gunther with the old crew in that regard.

Still think it’s going to be Tiff and Gunner

In honor of Valentine’s Day ….. Hope it is Quill on Luann’s phone. Calling to say he has been thinking about her and wanted to wish her a Happy Valentine’s Day. Let’s start the romance back in Luann’s life instead of ‘guy friends’.

I wish Luann and Gunther would just give in and start going together already!

I said earlier that Gunther’s date-profile description of Luann was one of the sweetest things he ever said to her. Luann could only be deeply impressed – to the point of the Almost Kiss!! :)

I’m kinda rooting for Luann and Jack so . . .

They took it to the edge, then both backed off. I think there is attraction between them but neither wants to risk ruining their special friendship. Wise choice!

Phew!

This was Gunther’s chance. If he’s interested in Luann, he should have kissed her. He’ll look back at today’s strip, specifically, as The Point at which The One Got Away. Neither Jack nor Quill nor even Aaron Hill on the phone had anything to do with frame 1-2; Gunther just didn’t take the initiative at the moment it was available. Without going to these extremes, if he’s going to Get The Girl, he has to be at least a little more like James Bond and less like Pee-Wee Herman.

This is an echo of the moment when Mary Richards and Lou Grant almost, almost kissed on the old “MTM Show.” It was funny then and insightful because they were so different and they sensed the ludicrousness of the moment. Gunther and Luann are not, by contrast, ludicrous at all. Longtime friendships, easygoing relationships, are just the place where real romance can begin.

What a putz. He could have seized the moment. I can’t say that I’m disappointed.

Ugh. Coulda gone for epic, but the writer settled on comedic. Disappointing.

I still say I want to see him and Tiffany. Something about that a few years ago when he showed up with the scruff out the blue… Seemed like it was perfect.
