Might still be crowded. The many thousands of variants of Christian faith all agree that the old and new testaments of the bible are critical to their faith, but disagree with each other about what those books mean. I’m guessing that there’s similar fracturing within other faiths, such as those who follow Judaism and Muslim beliefs. A sign reading “must show love and acceptance towards all of God’s children” would likely get the new admissions down to easily manageable levels, though.
That’s why there won’t be very many preachers, padres, fathers, and well, probably, any church officials there at all. In fact hardly anyone who thinks they’re going get in without a care.
I was raised with a pretty Fire & Brimstone version of Christianity but have spent years thinking it through. If God is the heavenly Father aka perfect Parent, would God have this big hurdle to heaven?Would you as an earthly parent do your best to eliminate all your kids or do whatever you could to have them with you?If some present a danger to the rest, you may sadly have to remove them. But I’ve come to believe He wants it crowded in there. And it’s human thinking that’s made it some reality show contest.
That can be pretty bad considering how many religions give the thumbs up for things like killing “witches”, slavery, homophobia, misogyny, and abusing children.
I’ve long been astonished that Christians can claim with a straight face that, yes, the Yahweh of the Old Testament was a petty, vengeful, murderous jerk, but that everything was set right by Jesus (according to the fanfic of his most devoted followers, known as the New Testament). But that’s got it exactly backwards.
Sure, if you did something that pissed off the easily irritated Yahweh, he’d smite you where you stood, plus your family and half the innocent bystanders in the county as collateral damage. But that was it. Dead. Done. Finito. Period. Game Over. Sayonara. Hasta la vista. It wasn’t until Jesus came along that they invented the concept of “No no no, my friend, we’re gonna fry your sorry butt forever! And not just for the actions you actually performed but for some of those naughty little thots you’ve been having!”
Think about it. Which of these 2 arrogant, flaming sadists was actually worse?
I’m not a subscriber to any organized religion. I respect those who are sincere in the practice of theirs and try to live by a moral code.
After I’m gone, I don’t know if I will have left the world a little better for my being … but I hope that it can be said, that I never intentionally harmed it.
Oh, please. Get over yourself. Yes, there are some religions that do not practice the values prescribed by Buddha, Christ, etc. This is about being a humanist where one loves one’s neighbor, does not live a life of hypocrisy, and actually have moral values. Don’t read more into the statement of this “comic” than what it states right up front. It is a statement directed at the evangelical right.
It would be poetic justice if this is actually the way things are up there…..so many that think they will be going up will find themselves going down…..
Well that keeps out all the Fake Christians and Fake Muslims and leaves plenty of space for those of us who really follow the lesson of love and compassion for all people.
Everybody has sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. If you say that you do not sin, you are deceiving yourself. Since that is true, that sign means that nobody is getting in. You don’t get into Heaven on a point system.
First, to practice or resist the morals your “church teaches” you, you should understand what your Holy Book really says and how your church has screwed it all up..
Adam and Eve eating forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil says humans know how to make their rules of society and don’t need a king, queen, priest, rabbi or god telling them what is and isn’t acceptable..
Cain killing Abel says a brother (human being) has been killing his brother (another human) since the advent of civilization and for religious reasons.
Elisha calling on heaven to send two bears to claw to death 42 children for mocking his baldness says if you acknowledge the faults of religion and criticize its leaders they will want you dead.
The tale of Noah’s flood says the responsibility of a leader is to make preparations to protect those he leads when a disaster comes because God isn’t going to do it; God is responsible for the disaster.
If he’s right, and he pretty much is, we’re all in deep trouble. “We all sin. We all fall short” – St. Paul “Like sheep, we’ve all gone astray. Everyone has turned to his own way, but the Lord laid on him the iniquity of us all.” – Isaiah
Umm. OK. But right after that velvet rope, there had better be a bunch of paths so I don’t have to cohabit in heaven with people whose morals endanger me (okay, maybe not in heaven), offend me or annoy me. Everything from knocking on doors pushing your particular scheme through cannibalism, sexist or other restrictions, to genital mutilation falls into one or another of those categories: Moral (some times and places) AND offensive (at best).
No worries, heaven and hell are both made up constructs to fool the gullible and the fearful. And my dog tags did say atheist on them… so they would know not to plant one of those horrible torture devices over my grave. I wouldn’t want anyone to think I was so stupid as to believe in any of that malarkey, nor that I worshiped a device of agonizing torture as a symbol for a religion.
God’s got a doggo and cat angel assistants at the check-in gate? You better have minded your p’s and q’s when you were on earth. ’Cause they say, animals can sense a bad egg from a good egg.

Morality isn’t the sole venue of “religion”, which is why dogs have the heart to make it, while so many “religious” folks don’t.

By “morals” do you mean attempting to convert everyone to your religion and enforcing those “morals” on them.

Do you mean the morals of “do as I say” or the ones of “do as I do?” You can find almost every atrocity imaginable being done by God in the bible.

Too bad the reality to getting entrance has nothing to do with morals, look again in the NT it’s perfection. Only one Person has qualified.
Charlie Tuba about 5 years ago
The solution: create your own religion in which you meet all the morals.

The idea that one needs a religion to be a moral person is absurd, insulting, and it furthers the divide between the believer and nonbelievers
