The JOB is to be (re)elected. Doing that involves a lot more kowtowing to the folks who control lots of money for advertising than it does doing things for your district But they always do some of that kind of stuff (well, their staff does) because it looks good on their re-election posters.
Pig why do you expect somebody else to look out for you when you do not look out for yourself . Taking the Debbie Downer pills all the time . Does the Blue necktie on that weasel mean he’s a democrat ? … Croc Power !
To be elected to a higher office, you have to be egotistical, greedy and power hungry. Narcissism definitely helps, too. I have yet to see any of them in the House/Congress on up thru the President who have been truly humble. Some just have better PR than the others.
In New York, we have an elected office of “Public Advocate.” The Public Advocate gets no vote, but sits in City Council meetings Advocating on behalf of the Public.
Silly me, I thought that was that they all were supposed to be doing. The existence of the office is an admission that the rest of them aren’t, isn’t it?
Here in Florida 40% of the registered voters do not get to vote in the primaries because they do not belong to either party. So, as a result this group is relegated to voting for the lessor of two evils.Changes need to be made, such as all Federal elections have open primaries or better yet all Federal elections use Ranked Choice Voting which will negate the power of the two parties. Both parties have been bought and I am tired of their attitude of thinking they know what is best for everybody.
Our senator is retiring. He is probably staying in D.C. He is too old for a real job and hasn’t been back in so long he can’t find his house keys or house.

“Fellow Texans, I am proudly standing here to humbly say.
I assure you, and I mean it- Now, who says I don’t speak out as plain as day?
And, fellow Texans, I’m for progress and the flag- long may it fly.
I’m a poor boy, come to greatness. So, it follows that I cannot tell a lie.
.
Ooh I love to dance a little sidestep, now they see me now they don’t-
I’ve come and gone and, ooh I love to sweep around the wide step,
cut a little swathe and lead the people on.
.
Now my good friends, it behooves me to be solemn and declare,
I’m for goodness and for profit and for living clean and saying daily prayer.
And now, my good friends, you can sleep nights, I’ll continue to stand tall.
You can trust me, for I promise, I shall keep a watchful eye upon ya’ll…”

Does it have anything to do with making it harder to hit a moving target?
