I’m pleased to see this theme continued. Once more dare we hope that this dialogue of BFFs with ageing parents will yield interesting insights and further bind these two “ageing” friends?

Oh how immature we were when we first thought of ourselves as mature!

“Thus my maturity”?? Part of maturity and wisdom is MODESTY. Kids at that age that THINK they are mature more often than not are making fools of themselves.

Gotta love Bernice – always there to make Luann feel even worse.

By the time she gets a bellyful of your constant prying, she’ll be Begging to go back to the dorm.

There’s no reason why B would jump to the conclusion that LU2 feels responsible for Nancy thinking of herself as old and worn out. Sure hope B changes her major soon…

Luann, your mom only feels that because of those two nasty teenage girls. Help her see it – how those girls manipulated her into feeling old. She is not old. Yes, she is older and her stamina is not the same but she is not old and she needs to ignore those bratty coeds that come in at The Fuse. Some parents don’t raise their kids right or those girls just like to put people down so they feel superior. Maybe you can teach her a few comebacks for those nasty buggers. Oh, wait, you don’t snark. Have Bernice teach her the art of snarking.

I did not get married until I was 33 (we techno – nerds can sometimes be hard to unload on someone), my son was born when I was 39, and my daughter, who is 17, was born when I was almost 47. I used to think about her being 13 when I was 60…

All, in all, everything has worked out OK.

Bernice is not a bully she just loves to test the waters and see if can find any fish.

Is it just me or is Luanns shirt pattern look like that of static, except instead of black and white, it’s black and green. Green could be viewed as a symbol of Luann’s jealousy and the black is about her indecisive attitude. Plus it seems like no matter what other characters are dealing with, when they tell Luann for advise; luann consistently makes their problems about her.

Whoa. The future therapist, ladies and gentlemen! See, this is why they had Bernice move in, so we can have more hilarious moments like these (sarcasm).

I don’t think that has much to do with it, Bernice, and I don’t think you are more mature than Luann.

Curious that after having Ben in collage the Halpers must have waited 20 years before having another child. Perhaps Bernice’s parents are rich enough to retire ahead of social security. But no they could not afford to even pay for Bernice’s dorm room when her RA pay was cut. So they much be near 62, the earliest you can retire and collect Social Security. It’s call it 60. Bernice is about 20, so she was born when her mother was 40. But wait, Ben is how much older than Bernice. More than 5 years but less than 10? So Ben was born when Mrs, Haper was 30-35 years old but they were too young or too poor to care for him.

All I wanted to say was that being raised as if an only child does not make Bernice more mature, But how could Bernice be born late in her parents life when she has a brother that not that much older than her,

Also, is this the week Luann finally realizes she has been wasting her life by staring out windows and to get out and do something?

Boy there is a lot to munch on in a Lu/Bern arc from snark to generational perspective, to family birth order dynamics; right now its just dryly humorous. Await further development.

Yeah, either Ben is very young looking for his age (and also was during his army days), or Luanniverse time is being weirder than usual. But what’s a little plot hole to us Luannatics? We survived Shannon changing from being Toni’s cousin to being her niece, and we’ll get though this, too.

This isn’t the first time Bernice give me the feeling she envy Luann for having young and cool parents. The way she uses the age of her parents as the reason for her assumed maturity is so wrong it becomes hilarious! I hope that talking with Bernice Luann can find a way to help Nancy feel better, but the premises are low… Probably, I can no longer see Bernice’s advices as useful. It’s kinda sad.

As I’ve said before, when I met my wife as a teen, her parents seemed ancient to me. Now, 40 years later, I’m older than they were then, and I don’t feel old.

Wouldn’t it be awesome to go to a therapist that was more interested in dunking on you than helping you?

I think I hurt myself rolling my eyes at Bernice’s “that’s my maturity” claim. Being stuck-up and being mature are two separate things. Maybe she should find another trash can to cower behind.

Oh for goodness sake. The dynamic between Luann and Bernice has been going on since Day One! Get over it people. The dynamic has been successful for decades and GnK are not about to mess that up. So sit back and enjoy it.

It amazes me that no one on here seems capable of recognizing a joke. People who have been friends since childhood do that sort of thing with each other. You all must be so much fun at parties. Everything is mean and an insult.

I still think they are all being so rude, talking about Nancy at 50 like she’s over the hill, when all that happened was she got tired at work, and the tired at work could have been because it’s WORK, duh. Add to it Tiffany slacking off at waitressing and you have Nancy doing everything. Fire Tiffany. Hire good help for their abilities. Nancy only hired Tiffany out of pity, anyway. She had to know the girl doesn’t know how to work.

That’s not snark, that’s just mean. Snark is funny.

Bernice thinks she is more mature because her parents were older when she was born? That makes NO sense at all.

Bernice is so self-righteous, and the conclusions she jumps to are always delivered as “insight from the psychology student” but are actually meant as put-downs on Luann. What a peach! I’m always amazed at how incredibly entitled and self absorbed the characters in this strip are. Hint hint – the answer to Mom feeling tired is called “helping out”.

No, Luann doesn’t feel responsible; she feels concerned. I do too. I’m worried that Nancy is allowing these teenies and twentysomethings to dictate her life and work; that she may think she has to stop working at the Fuse just because of their comments.

Actually she and Brad share equal volumes of guilt.

Bernice is such a waste of oxygen.

I have a theory that parents age at a 2-1 ration during their kids teenage years. At least it felt like it.

Did Nancy tell Luann about her experiences that day at the Fuse? I’m not sure Nancy feels old and worn out. I think she’s more worried that others would perceive her that way. It’s those kids who made fun of her and then Tif and TJ’s comments that wore her out.

Brad has to share the blame!

I know this comic is for laughs. But its time Greg Evans have Luann stand up to Bernice’s snobbishness and snarkiness.

Berniece’s parents having her late in life has no bearing whatsoever on her supposed maturity. That’s why I think her remark is tongue in cheek.

Luann does bear joint responsibility with Brad. But whereas he has grown up and matured, Luann has not and is still an irritant to Nancy.

Grow up, Luann!

My parents had me late too. Sometimes it can be a little stressful that my parents are old enough to be my grandparents, and that I’m now caring for both of them in their old age while I’m in my early 30s, but at the same time, I’m grateful for everything, because they exposed me to a whole other generation of entertainment (TV, movies, music, and the like) that is FAR better to watch and listen to than most of the garbage that mainstream entertainment produces today.
