Think about it. What if she had let Tara enter with a baseball bat? Or a volleyball net? Or an ice skate?

Just like archery gear, those are definitely weapons first, sporting gear second.

Nancy remains the sensible one in the family, while Luann would rather whine and play the victim than engage in a bit of self-reflection and possible self-improvement. And I’m getting some end-of-arc vibes here, so we might not even get to see Frank’s reaction to Luann’s screwup.

Okay, now does it set up to where Luann actually works at the family business or do Nancy and Frank say: ’I wish to help you Luann but with Bern helping out with the books and TJ with a full staff, I am not sure if there is anything for you to do there. I saw that Wienie World is hiring though. Brad earned some coin there when he was a student."

Actually, the obvious solution to Luann’s “job problem” is occupying the same room with her at the moment. Fuse owners Frank and Nancy DeGroot.

And note that Luann said she had to take on a second job. Meaning that she didn’t exactly quit Kidz First yet.

So is it waitressing at the Fuse for Lu? Tiffany is going to get a big kick out of that.

And also please note the Gal that started all this is now nowhere to be found.

Now there is a new phrase about huge transition, “inflection point” which is exactly what this arc (in a set of transition arcs) is all about, Luann’s going through an inflexion point in her life, a major change, pretty usual for young adults. Tara is a Luannverse change agent. Ennui is another thing Luann has been stuck in. Think change is “a-comin.”

Well, Nancy is with the it’s-Luann’s-fault camp. At least she will not be the parent who drives over and demands that Purgus give her daughter her old job back because that mother’s complaint was all nonsense and the children were never in any danger. Luann is only focusing on her income being cut down. Nancy needs to sit her down and have a talk about responsibility and accountability of her own actions. Bring up hiding Tara at The Fuse was one example she could have learned from which is that Tara is bad news. She did it again.

Really Nancy, Luann made a stupid mistake, she realized it was a mistake and she sure feels very bad for making it. Repeating it to her and making her face it again and again will only have the result of make her feel worse. The bad part is that, instead of leaving, Luann accepted Mr. worm’s conditions! Let’s hope she will find an interesting second job.

As so often is the case one has to wonder about the reality of this story. Is “Kidz 1st” daycare, Pre-school, or kindergarten? The kids as drawn last week were taller than Shannon. They looked a lot like 2nd or 3rd graders. So we can eliminate daycare, pre-school or Kindergarten. And in fact the building they are at is “The Lincoln Elementary School” When our daughter was going to school neither my wife or I were able to pick her up exactly as the closing bell So she stayed in an afterschool room. The room would be open from 2::30 to 6:00 or 6:30 for parents to arrive. Teachers would stay over during those extra hours. So where does Luann fit into all this? Honestly I done see where a school would need to hire Luann at all.

The next question is so she’s being paid $14 an hour, For how many hours? An after-school sitting job would pay a max of 4 hours a day. But again why hire someone when tey havwe teachers already present, Most of whom would be happy to be paid for 4 hours of watching kids while grading tests.

Likewise why would the school assign Tiffany to do paperwork when they already have a school secretary o do that?

And bringing a stranger who safely entertained the kids is hardly a firing offense. A reprimand or a suspension for a couple days maybe but firing….? The main thing is “no harm, no foul.” What the protesting mother sad is important here, but obviouly left aside so GnK can make their case thata Luann Eff’ed up. The principsl said Tarta was teaching them warfare which is absurd at every level.

Everything about this story is unrealistic, absurd and an embarrassment.

In the second panel with her arms up in the air, Luann reminds me of the guy in the AT&T commercial where he goes ballistic when his smart speaker will not play his “easy listening smooth jazz playlist”. That one cracks me up, especially towards the end of the commercial when you can see the guy through the living room window still throwing a tantrum and waving his arms in the air. His facial expressions and grimaces are absolutely hilarious!

This whole storyline is basically a retcon – prior to this Kids 1st was a day care center where Luann volunteered for two hours a week, now it’s a full-fledged school where she worked full time. I guess the creators got tired of trying to explain why Luann is an adult living at home who works two hours a week and goes to one community college class per semester and appears to have no ambition to do anything else with her time. I guess once Luann begs for her job back we’ll have a new status quo where she’s actually working towards being a teacher as a career?

Frank hears “Mistake” and may be thinking Luann is with child! Typically a father’s first reaction when he hears the middle of a conversation between mother and daughter and once finds out that is not the case, breathes a sigh of relief.

When you think about it, we live in a society where people come into schools and murder kids. So a parent sees a total stranger has been allowed to enter the school with a bow and arrows, and knows nothing else about the situation. Of course she’s going to complain.

How many thousands of young adults are attending the community college that Luann attends? How many more thousands attend the university that Bernice attends (where the tuition is of course much higher than Luann’s)? All those thousands of young adults are somehow making it through, probably by a combination of jobs and loans. Luann is not doomed because her hours have been halved. She just needs to show some initiative in getting another job and then to be more responsible in doing it than she was this week at Kidz First!

I agree that Luann broke a number of rules, but by the same token, that mom is a moron if she considers archery “warfare” in this day and age. When I was in elementary school, we did archery as part of gym class. It’s a sport. It’s probably best that Luann learned a lesson, but that mother is a first-rate Karen who was probably on her way to shriek about nonexistent “critical race theory”, or Harry Potter.

Fact is none of this would have happened if Luann would have made Tara WAIT while she asked principle “what’s his name” if a visitor could come on the property AND insisted Tara wait while she got approval.

Luann wouldn’t leave the kids…she could just call from her cell phone and get permission.

IMO Nancy’s reaction is totally warranted. She knows Tara is bad news and probably thought her daughter would exercise more common sense in her choice of friends especially after The Fuse incident with Tara’s psycho cousin.

Tara’s a bad influence…however what do you expect from someone who’s a cross between a hoodlum and a bully? In all fairness it’s probably has to do with her homelife as a child though.

    I don’t know…maybe Luann thinks Tara’s cool.
