Lure them down with the prospect of a hugely profitable contract for Disney… I mean, that’s what the Wiley Bears™ would do, right?

Only the original Pooh and the first set of stories are public domain. Put a red shirt on him and he belongs to those attorneys.

No sense in pooh-poohing the idea.

It’s not the lawyers that are the problem. It’s the money managers that let the Imagineers go and decided to buy everything in sight.

Attorneys are horrible in general, but the Disney ones are the worst. If even half the stuff I have heard about Disney in the last year is true, they really are one of the worst companies ever.

It’s perhaps worth noting Disney build their fortune on public domain works.

Let’s keep bashing the legal department (it so richly deserves it) while remembering that Disney DOES put out a quality product — for the most part.

Can we blame them for ruining Star Wars? Then eating them is well deserved.

Lawyers are just tools. For the most part, it’s the MBAs who work hard to monetize everything. They’re the ones who turned the theme parks into disasters I refuse to patronize.

The same ones that go after inner-city daycare facilities for painting Disney characters on the walls without paying licensing.

As soon as I saw the words, “Public Domain,” I knew where this story was going.

I took a whole entire course on law. Half of it covered product liability, the other half intellectual property.

I don’t know how Disney is getting away with their Mickey Mouse flaunting of the law.

Nice twist. Always serve lawyers with a green salad on the side, maybe a Vinaigrette or Italian dressing. It helps to clean the palate.

love it. i remembered when Disney went after “Howard the Duck” because it was too similar to Donald Duck. really? and so the people at Marvel put pants on Howard and Disney was placated. really? ridiculous and gotta love the Pooh Bear now

There is a Simpson’s episode where Principle Skinner is approached by Disney lawyers because his school illegally held a festival for the kids using Disney characters. Skinner uses his special forces skills to destroy the lawyers.

The problem, when there is a lawyer buried to his neck in sand, is that you ran out of sand.

Disney should do a Captain Eddy movie where everybody talks like that. What a riot!
