I love how Elvis is holding his tail in the first panel. He’s so worried for Bea’s safety. I’ve known dads who react like this when they fear their little girl is in danger.
Umm, Elvis? Beatrix is a cat. I think she knows about the whole “make yourself big and jump around sideways” thing. I’ve seen kittens that are still so young that they can barely walk do that.
I would say that if you truly think she might be in danger, telling her to get out might be better advice . . . but, you’ve already done that and she ignored you, so don’t expect much reaction to this advice, either.
Puck and Iggy can make a pirate team now. Three legged cat and one eyed cat. All we needs is a peg leg for Puck. The Pirates of the Cat-ibbean. Yo ho ho and a lot of meow. Avast ye scurvy cats. Prepares to walks the plank.
Poor lost baby. I wonder what the little guy means by “live here”? So despairing of finding the way back to the shelter that just giving up and accepting dry but dreary as the best that can be found? And where is the little tortie buddy?
How would Elvis know if it’s a lie? Bea has a better situational awareness because she’s there to get all the info, especially scent. (My cats are sniffing each other a lot with Monroe here, especially sniffing him and Monroe reciprocating. Honor is especially intent on sniffing the baby.)
Since the addition houses the shelter offices, it’s entirely possible the escapees have been there. Maybe the poor lost cats are confused and think they made it back to their (current) home. Or maybe there is a spookier reason…
We have been getting some amazing Elvis expressions the past few days! Based on Puck’s expressions, I think more sympathetic heads will prevail. Hopefully things move forward with our new addition in the new addition.
I know we’ve all been warned against reading BCN whilst drinking our beverages, but how come nobody warned me about reading BCN whilst eating peas and corn!
When I read “Make yourself big and jump around sideways” I nearly snorted a pea up my nose!
Poor Kitty! Do I sense a Kitty rescue coming??? I bet I bet I do, our people are heros! When they own the pink house there will be no limit to kittens to be saved!!
If you want to see what this looks like outdoors, turn down the volume and watch this 18 second video of my cat Kirby after he smelled something like wildcat urine in the redwoods.
Feral cats in the addition? My experience with feral cats has not been good. usually they resist any close contact with humans. you can feed themand usually pet them, but avoid trying to pick them up. I’ve had the bites and scratches to prove it.
Poor Iggy is breaking my heart. And Puck’s expression in the last panel—a circle, two elipses, two triangles, yet a perfect expression of his emotional state. Genius.
He is so lucky he never met Stupid II. Extremely friendly to people and his pride, that particular Pid was the most viscious to other cats I’ve known. Elvis’s “Stop, drop, and hop” would have been “Stop, drop, and die.”
Side effects I had with long term steroids were, insomnia, weight gain, mood changes (very short tempered), kidney stones, and beginning cataracts. I was on them for three years with occasional IV steroids for my relapses. When on the IVs I couldn’t stop talking.
He had a couple of strikes against him right from the start. His mom was a (too) young stray brought to the shelter pregnant. He and his brother were born and the whole family promptly contracted pneumonia. His mom and his brother did not survive. He got better, was bottle fed until he wasn’t, neutered, and then just about the time he was ready to make his debut (a little late) in the kitten room. BAM!, another bout of pneumonia. But he survived it, and made his public debut at 6 months in the adoption room. We met there. He was timid, but a snuggler. We had picked out another cat too, a long and lean house panther about three years old. They were introduced in the adoption room, got along fine, and then came home with us to meet the boss lady, Lucy. Everyone got along swell (as long as they did what Lucy told them), and the Terrible Trio, Lucy, Linus and Charlie Brown were created. Charlie Brown (the kitten) was thus named because he had a zig-zag on his head, he was really round (d/t steroids as a kitten) and he didn’t have the best luck starting out. He did have some seizures when he was young, and he was so near-sighted he’d run right into you walking down the hall. He was a sweet, snuggly stuffie, and he died this morning, following the rest of the Trio over the Rainbow Bridge. RIP Charlie Brown (aka Chubawumba, Chubs, and Buddha Kitty).
