Just as long as Lupin doesn’t teach Iggy to “wake innocent family and long-suffering roommates for no reason”, then the Hunting of the Socks is a skill worth learning …
This is just.. precious. It’s nice to see this side of Lupin: nurturing, kind.. and still a bit off but you know.. not actively destroying everything in sight or being the bane of Elvis’ existance.
That sentence also finally made me realize why he and Elvis don’t get along: like he and Goldie their two diffrent flavors of oddly intense that don’t go together. Elvis takes himself seriously, often too much, while Lupin only does on Camera and even then it’s not guaranteed he’ll have clothes on. As such Lupin seems to see it as his duty to knock Elvis down a notch while Elvis sees him as the bane of his existance. The two are still brothers at the end of his day but it’s clear if Puck weren’t between them they would’ve fought to the death years ago. or until the woman spray bottled them both for fighting but you get it.
In contrast he gets along well with Iggy and Puck because their calm gentle souls. The intesnity is off. Iggy just goes with the flow and Puck is gentle and kind to everyone (within limits). Iggy needds someone to guide him and while Ora was a decent start, Lupin is a shockingly good fit, getting him to loosen up but as seen here also genuinely trying to teach him and not just teaching him to destroy because it’s what he do, but because he thinks it’s an art worth passing on.
Apropos of nothing, I recently bought a book for my library called The Lion in the Living Room. Nonfiction about the domestication of cats (and how they domesticated us), but it wouldn’t make a bad kid’s book title either!
I always thought cats were “saving them for later.” I also recall the true story of a “high-lighter” (minimalist high altitude hiker and camper) who awoke with a mountain lion raking dirt and debris over him.
This brought back a great memory. Years ago we had a feral cat that lived in our backyard…MaMa Kitty. We fed her, but the birds would always steal her kibble. One day she caught and killed a bird and laid it next to her kibble bowl. They never stole her kibble again.
This is why I buy 12 pair of the same socks and I don’t have to worry about matching pairs. They all match. When they wear out or start to dwindle in numbers I buy 12 more and throw out what is on hand.
OT: Some children at Big Nate are totally bored and discussing trolling tomorrow. Here’s a quote “So far, I think garfield, calvin and hobes, peanuts and breaking cat news should be attacked!” Luckily not that many are that bored so maybe they won’t. If trolls show up, remember to not respond and just red flag.

Lupin knows that if you let the sock population get out of hand, you’ll have an ecological disaster!

You can see the wiggle in the last panel. You all know that wiggle. It comes just before the pounce.
I have a button that says: sneak, sneak, sneak, sneak, wiggle rear end, sneak, sneak, sneak, sneak, pounce!

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Lupinium: Iggy, hunting is a noble and necessary skill. The most important things you must learn is how to hunt and where to hunt.
Iggy: Where do we start?
Lupinium: First is to remove these stray objects that threaten to interfere with orderliness and create clutter.
At The Artisan’s Studio
Sophititi: Adobe Style, will you remind Lupinium to return my found objects when he’s done hunting them?
Adobe: Sure thing. And I’ll see if Elvis-Anum is missing any more pens.
Maat-Tilda: Looks like I’m missing a few spools of thread. I’ll have to ask the ladies to procure some more.
Sophititi: Then we’ll give Iggy a tour to show where to avoid thwumping.

You think you’re safe in your sock drawer? Think again, socks! Mighty hunters roam the Big Pink House and they’re gonna getcha.

’Twas some nights before Christmas, when all through the house
Two creatures were hunting, (but no Robber Mouse);
The stockings were spread in the kitchen with care,
In hopes to warn any hose lurking there;
Other cats were nestled all snug in their beds;
While Lupin and Iggy were tracking instead;
And the Woman and Man so warm in their sheets,
With no visions of soon waking up to cold feets.
’Til they heard Lupin exclaim, ere he filled them with fright—
“Happy hunting to us, and to all a good night!”
