I too have a kitten, Princess Buttercup, who likes to torment her fellow fuzzies. Luckily she’s 90% floof and not terribly graceful so they can always hear her coming.
I love that Pucky is using self soothing to calm his poofy tail while poor, delicate Elvis needs to be soothed by his woman. Lupin wants to the pop in.
I have a pair of pretty floral socks that have the phrase “I’M A DELICATE BLEEPING FLOWER” stitched around the ankles. I think Elvis needs them more than I do …
She uses his name for the first time! Or at last where this verison of her got it. Also Elvis looks like he needs a fainting couch in panel 2 and it is fantastic. It’s also just really heartwarming to have seen the slow progressoin of Iggy from his first apperance and early days in the house (where he’s almost constantly frowning with only the ocasional break) to everything after Tommy’s Woman gave him his medicine, where he just nearly perpetually has a smile on his face. It’s a subtle change but it’s there and it’s small stuff like this that really has drawn me to the strip. While as a whole it’s hilarious, heartfelt and has a fairly deep world I haven’t seen in a comic strip in some time, just the little touches and character arcs help it.
Frame 1: Puck’s tail is a separate being, in need of assurance. Frame 2: Aw, “Pop-Tart” is one of the nicknames we call our Poppy, too. Frame 3: Elvis’s chin up, ears back, nobly offended. Frame 4: Elvis’s paw says “J’accuse!”
I agree with those who are excited Iggy is finally getting his name! Now when will we hear Igula? I knew Lupin would be into it! With peaceful Puck, cranky Elvis, and a firm frenemy in Goldie, he needs someone to play with.
Love that Lupin picked up the pop! Surprised he hadn’t thought of it before. Poor Puck tail. And pooor Elvis. With Iggy and Lupin in the house, he may be in a perpetual state of poof.
…yesterday evening. I had room in my car to bring Lou’s cat tree, & we set it up in the living room. He’s been exploring the house & otherwise doing his own thing. Aside from sniffing a couple of low-hanging ornaments, he hasn’t bothered the Christmas tree. He has the tiniest meow & doesn’t purr much. Guess he’s the Strong Silent Type, LOL!
When I was immediately attracted to a tabby kitten at the animal shelter, he was in a big room with more than ten other cats. I chose a second cat, a beautiful gray-and-white male who was six months older, because he was the only one that would interact with him when approached playfully. They had most amazing brotherly relationship for life. They would often sleep and groom together, hunt together and go for walks wth me when they got bigger. There are few things more gratifying than to watch two grown cats who get along together that well.
Of course, they would offer spar together – sometimes on fallen trees 30 feet above the forest floor. Nobody ever got hurt; even when one got knocked off.
Love Pucky holding his poor poofed tail. Elvis will milk this that’s for sure. No doubt he’s a sensitive cat, but I’ve had enough cats to know that they can milk it just as much as a human child. Still love the fangs!
I haven’t really had any “pop” cats, but my little tortie, Peekaboo (who looked very like Ora Zella), had some digestive problems when I first brought her home as a tiny kitten, probably from subsisting on a diet of whatever she could scrounge after being abandoned on the roadside. Peekaboo earned herself the temporary nickname “Mama’s Little Farty Tart”. She was smol, but mighty!
As someone who was raised by Siamese cats, Elvis cracks me up. Our houseful would have been leading the scrap until their dying breath. I have never met an easily frightened or intimidated Siamese and would just love to have met Elvis. He is SO against type it’s hysterical.
Holmes isn’t a popping kitty; he is a troublemaking kitty. The newest thing is to race over Hamilton and me when we are sleeping at night.
Alexandria and Mac are both home from college, and Alex is calling the kitten Sherlock. I am afraid he is going to get confused. Should we call him Sherlock or Holmes?

I also love how organically the name Iggy develops today. Some of my beloved cats’ names made themselves known just like that, in conversation.

All he wants for Christmas
Is some pop relief
Some pop relief
Yeah, some pop relief!
Gee, if he could only
Have less Iggy grief
Then he could have a
Merry Christmas
Seems so wrong for Lupin to say
He wants to give Elvis no poofy rest
Gosh oh gee, how happy he’ll be
Now that he is poppin’ fresh

Iggy: Sorry for startling you, Louie-Nour. I’ll get things cleaned up.
Louie-Nour: Hey, these things happen.
Ta-Natash: You’ll need some of this. Thomios’ patented O dorless O rganic P owder S crub.
Louie-Nour: Weren’t you just at the Royal Pantry delivering raisins for Thomios’s Kat Koffee Kakes?
Tash Yes. Then we heard through the grapevine there was a bit of a mishap here.
Iggy: Well, everything’s been cleaned up here. Again, sorry, Louie.
Louie: It’s cool. How about we head over to the pantry for some Koffee and Kake?
Iggy: Where did Tash go?
Louie: Those ladies have popping down to a science!
