So many questions unanswered. Did the man stop Lupin before he sent the papers flying in all directions? Why does “this man’s” coat smell like maple syrup? Why didn’t they put Lupin in the bedroom along with Elvis. It’s not as if chaos couldn’t have been anticipated.
And the funny thing is, Lupin actually has no idea why someone would want to fun across the pile for no reason. He just does it (or tries to, in this case).
I like you random mustache and beared paper man. Your good people> Lupin.. you very much aren’t at this point and you know it. The last panel also just kills me. Poor Elvis, always locked in that room.. suprisingly ora isn’t with him. Like.. we saw how she reacted to the woman of all people first time she met and how she kicked the heck out of the man. Maybe she’s calmer now I dunno?
Did anyone notice that curved ears of Lupin in the 2nd Panel, don’t they remind you of the appendages on the head of the red guy from downstairs! [In a cute way of course] Not to mention the fangs!!x
So Elvis always is in the bedroom when strangers arrive, is that because he goes there and hides, or do the people put him in there because he gets too stressed out or attacks strangers?
I am somewhat hoping to get more details on this man with the syrupy smell and nice mustache, but it looks like this week will be focused on the BPH saga. How soon will Tommy and Sophie (and their People of course) get to move in? Will we see Dr. Mann during this?
Tabith-Isis: Greetings, news cats! Tabith-Isis reporting here at the Artisnas’ Studio, where there are some exciting new projects happening. Sophititi, can you tell us about your fabric art?
Sophititi: Glad to, Tabs! Arachna, Maat-Tilda, and I are working on new sails for the good ship Red Planet Spider.
Tabitha: That’s wonderful, ladies. But where do you get all the fabric to make the sails?
Tillie: It’s a combination of a number of sources. We have repaired the original sails as best we can, and Ari and many of her friends have done a tremendous job contributing silk (those old webs have some use). Then there are unnamed sources that will never tell.
Tabitha: Great job! Now, to Wally and Iron Glove where I understand they are working on metal and wood work.
Iron Glove: Hello, Tabs! I’m creating spikes and bolts to replace those damaged in the storm!
Wally: And I’m building some extra strong shelving.
Tabs: Wonderful. Is Lupinium helping you test the shelves.
Wally: He’s busy with his Advanced Thwump Class. But I have a very capable colleague.
At my parents’ Christmas parties in the ‘60s guest coats were tossed on the bed. One year our cat, who was a woolsucker, chewed a piece out of a man’s beautiful wool tweed coat and then gave it right back. My parents paid for the repair and cleaning and for the rest of his life, every time he was a guest the fellow mentioned the indignity of it all.
Off-topic: Thanks. It would be churlish of me not to acknowledge the many kind “send off” replies I received. I even got a (possibly ironic) “like” from one of the people who precipitated my decision. It was heart-warming and may cause me to re-consider once I am relocated.
Maple syrup. Oh, yum. I love the aroma. I love the flavor. I have a recipe for a small snack cake: sour cream cake with maple buttercream frosting. I’ve never made it, but today may be the day. The cake is made with a full cup of dark maple syrup, plus a little for the frosting. And pecans. I have all the ingredients except it calls for whole milk and I only have 2% milk.
I booth at our local farmer’s market sells maple syrup and also one of the sell is maple sugar candy, which I am slightly addicted to. Maybe this stranger has some maple sugar candy in his pocket.
Anyone else from snow country remember pouring warm maple syrup onto fresh snow? We’d make all sorts of squiggles and shapes, then eat them immediately.
What grade maple syrup, Elvis? And is it amber, light amber, or dark amber? For that matter is it maple syrup or that faux maple syrup that is really supposedly maple flavored pancake syrup?
My favorite part of today’s strip is “ALL COMPANY WILL RECEIVE FREE CAT HAIR”!!!! LOL, love it.And I’m dying to know why the notary man’s coat smells like maple syrup! Please fill us in tomorrow, Georgia!

Paper stack slider (paper stack slider)
Dear Man and Woman, please don’t get too shook
It’ll be a sight, wanna take a look?
It’s based on a whim and since he has no fear
Oh, he’ll do a good job
’Cause he wants to be a paper stack slider
Paper stack slider
Well, it’s a dirty trick by a purty cat
And his family knows to accept that
He happily makes his daily mess
He’s a cute whack job
And he wants to be one paper stack slider
Paper stack slider
Whoosh!

Judy Collins: Cook With Honey
Brand new year, it’s very clear
Papers piled up on our dinner table
Notary ready, Lupin awaits!
…….
Elvis has discovered maple syrup
On the visitor’s coat
He’s ready to add some cat fur
And maybe add a quote
About what’s going on!
…….
So many important papers
Unfortunate would be
If a mischievous Cat of Adventure
Came running up to see!
…….
Elvis has discovered maple syrup
On the visitor’s coat
Lupin has discovered piles of papers
And that’s all he wrote
About what’s going on!
…….
Come and visit with all our cat friends
There’s always room for more
Just be careful and don’t be hasty
Elvis is just behind the door!
Watch out for a white streak
And his kitty friend!
Come join us in the Big Pink House
The love will never end!
…….
Elvis has discovered maple syrup
Best just leave him alone
Let’s welcome all our new neighbors
To the Big Pink Home
For lots of love!
