“Wicked big explosion” lol! And Elvis’ “He…seems to be saving the day?” I’ve had fantasies, mostly about being an explorer and mapper of strange places, but never a superhero one. Just not believable in my case, even as a child.

    Meanwhile, Back on the Nile

Iggy: We’ve really made some headway on this guitar invention. I think Elvis-Anum found some music scrolls to adapt as well.

Tabith-Isis: Lovely! I think I’ll be reporting on a concert soon.

Iron Glove: And I think Lupinium and Ora Z will be working on a thwump routine for the tumbling classes. Right, guys?

    Lupinium: You got it!

    Thwump!

    Tabs: What was that?

Ora Z: It’s not me, Little O, you know.

Lupinium: We already made our grand entrance.

Zoomie Cat: Here I come to save the day!

    Enter Royal Procurers, Stealthily

    Ta-Natash: That’s our line!

Violet-Ifa: Looks like superhero Puck is here.

Puckmosis: Nothing like a good zoom after a nap. What brings you ladies here?

Agnes-Ata: We’ve come to let everyone know it’s Brunch O’Clock.

Live action drama this morning. A real mouse in the house! Must have made the mistake of coming into the screen porch and then the worse mistake of coming into the house. After breakfast I heard growling and noticed the three cats seemed to be in a face off around the island but then I realized they weren’t growling at each other. Finn had cornered the mouse (which at first I thought was a dust bunny until it grew legs and a tail and ran). I thought, oh Finn, Gent would be proud of you! But he was just playing with it in the pounce, let it go, pounce again manner that cats have. Perhaps his hunting instincts have been blunted by a year of indoor luxury? Then the other two joined in but so far the mouse has survived. So I guess the game will continue until the mouse is caught. I just hope I find an uneaten corpse because otherwise I’ll have to get enough deworming meds for all three. Several times I thought the mouse was a goner but then it would run again, a lot of stamina for such a little creature.

Someone set Puck’s theme song to music, immediately! Also, I love how Puck pretending to be an action hero is, in Elvis’ eyes, more newsworthy than Lupin pretending to be a monster. To be fair, Puck absolutely rocks the action hero vibe.

I’ve been adopted by an outdoor cat who roams about 60 acres (he belongs to my cousin who lives a 1/2 mile from me) and he gets fed when I get up. It’s raining today and he wanted his food just outside my door but I placed his bowl under the shelter. He kept whining (he’s very vocal) until I picked him up and placed him on the table under the shelter. Silly cat!

@Dr_Scuttles on Twitter has two new looong threads: one about Wicket the Owl, and one about watching a movie in the middle of the night with That Man. The movie is, I believe, The Bodyguard, and Dr. Scuttles is entranced by the singing and promises to bite anyone who threatens the Singer. It’s hilarious and charming!

Tweets from Dr. Scuttles, April 27 (long)

The hour grows late. That Man has gone to bed. The ticking of the clock in the kitchen and my talons clicking on the kitchen tiles… A letter from Wicket arrived today, and I’ve just had the chance to open it up and read its (too many) pages.

That good news Wicket was annoyed about back in November is about to come to pass, and of course he is still complaining about it. That is about a page and a half of the letter; Wicket lamenting his good fortune. …Typical of him, really.

He spends all his letters complaining that the QWRC won’t let him fly as far as he’d like, keeps too close of an eye on him, and won’t let him eat what he wants to eat— But clearly, he should’ve been careful what he wished for, not that he’ll ever see it that way.

His friend has recovered to the point that they were able to leave the QWRC, which is wonderful news. Though Wicket is a bit sly about it and I don’t understand why. It seems they are they have plans to keep in contact, at least (less letters for me I hope!)

*”that they have,” not “they are they have.

Please forgive me, talons limit typing.

or once, he seemed to have no complaints about this. Wicket seems very excited for his friend to go out into the world and all that the future holds for them! A lot of positivity and excitement there.

    …Suspicious, but ok.

Wicket did answer my question from my last letter: He has had potato chips before! Stolen from a picnic table. Plain; of the kettle variety. He enjoyed them greatly, proving there is some sanity in Wicket after all.

Tweets from Dr. Scuttles, April 29 2:03am

That Man can’t sleep. He has wandered out to the living room, disturbing my space and quiet. Now after changing the channel many times, he has settled on a romantic movie from the 90s.

Now I cannot sleep. [expressionless face emoji] (…I am nocturnal, but tonight’s reason is SPITE.)

This movie doesn’t seem all that romantic after all. So far it’s just about a bodyguard and some so-so knife throwing.

He also ate his meal out of a soup pot with a cartoonishly large serving spoon, as I have seen That Man do many times.

He has agreed to be the bodyguard for a singer. So far, on his first visit to her home, security is TERRIBLE. He’s given all sorts of different names for famous People-historical figures. This mediocre knife thrower has his work cut out for him.

    The pool is terrific though.

She says he doesn’t look like a bodyguard. I have to agree. Rough day at work so far for this man. I’ve got to say, this romantic movie isn’t very romantic.

That Man has gone to the kitchen and returned with a bag of potato chips. The night is looking up! I may give this movie a chance after all.

(They are cheddar and sour cream potato chips. NICE!)

This singer is sometimes not very nice to the bodyguard. No one will tell her why she needs a bodyguard though, so I don’t blame her really, but still—

Wait, the singer is going to sing

…The singer is incredible. [scream emoji]

She is the best singer I have ever heard. She is mostly certainly the greatest singer of all time.

I dropped my potato chips. No matter, her voice is potato chip enough. [praying hands emoji][heart emoji]

SHE MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS.

The singer has found out the truth, that she’s in danger. Now she’s very nervous, and I AM TOO!

    This bodyguard BETTER GET SERIOUS.

I’m going to need more potato chips.

    (continued)

The singer has dawned a metal plated outfit, very similar to a turtle shell if I may say so. She is singing again. It’s perfection. It’s all perfection.

*Donned! Curse you, speak to tech!

She’s had a bad scare. She really is in danger. The singer doesn’t deserve this.

I WOULD BITE ANYONE FOR HER.

That Man seemed to sense my restlessness, and gently patted my shell. His company is appreciated, but he should understand I’m an Apex predator who could snap at him any minute if I choose.

But tonight I am also a good boy who is nervous for the greatest singer in the world.

Plot twist: the bodyguard does not enjoy jogging.

I too do not enjoy jogging…

There are many tales of tortoises taking part in jogging. Slow and steady! However, slow and steady jogging is still jogging and it’s all miserable to me.

I prefer to nap slow and steady.

Aw, the singer and the bodyguard are dancing to a cover of that Dolly Parton song.

That’s nice. This movie is somewhat romantic after all. If you like that kind of thing, I don’t. I’m just here for the potato chips. And the singer’s heavenly voice.

I wish the singer would cover that Dolly Parton song.

The singer is singing again at a big award show. Wow… She is absolutely wonderful.

    Wow.

This song just keeps getting better.

The bodyguard seems nervous. I am too.

I’ll bite whoever it takes to keep the singer safe. [praying hands empji]

They are now in a snowy place. They’re playing chess. This is exciting for me, as I love to eat chess pieces.

Against all odds, the bad guy has found them at the snowy place… My money is on the little dog to sound the alarm and keep them safe.

Little dogs are great at that kind of thing. They love to make noise for noise’s sake, at the slightest provocation, like a sound bomb always ready to go off.

Sure enough, the little dog is barking! They have been warned of treachery.

    Well done, tiny menace!

There are very big people-award show now… I hope she sings again. [praying hands emoji]

*They are at, please forgive my carelessness in movie-distraction.

    OH NO

Thank goodness, it was just his people-limb.

Why are they parting? Why do people part when they find a mate? I do not understand peo—

THE SINGER… SHE IS COVERING THAT DOLLY PARTON SONG

SHE IS STOPPING THE PLANE… SHE IS HUGGING THE BODYGUARD…

THIS COVER IS EVERYTHING I HOPED FOR.

    OH MY

    That was unexpectedly very nice.

Worth the potato chips. [clapping emoji]

And now I have a favorite song. [microphone emoji]

Whoa these credits… Ok, I have a second favorite song. This singer is truly unmatched. [praying hands emoji]

That Man is heading off to bed. Told me kindly, “thanks for hanging out, Dr. Scuttles.”

Thanks to you as well, That Man. Hope you cannot sleep tomorrow!
