Yup, I got that after my major surgery. “Oh, Younger Woman isn’t looking too good…is she still alive? Yes? Okay, good, we were JUST CHECKING, Sparky, we’ll leave you with Your Person now…”
Six weeks on the couch with a broken ankle that required surgery our twin Pucks and female were very diligent at making sure I was alive and stayed warm. The dog was not fond of the crutches and walking boot and kept his distance. Cats are much better nurses than dogs (and I love my dog).
Can confirm. I received routine wellness checks from all of the furry residents of my home when I slept on the sofa after my knee surgery two years ago, and then again after my wrist surgery (when I had to keep it elevated) last year.
The woman deserves all the furry little nurses she can take.
On another matter, my oldest, Alexandria, is working at a doggy daycare this summer to earn extra money. When she gets home after being with 25 to 30 pooches, our cats practically mug her because of all the smells.
OraZella’s “Very Fresh” reminds me that I expect my cats to eat me if I die and my sister doesn’t get over here soon enough to feed them first. They totally have my permission.
All of my cats over the years have been excellent nurses after my various surgeries, although that sometimes requires covering the affected body area with a pillow!
I still maintain that cats are natural reiki masters. My dearly departed Jasper always seemed to know which part of my body was aching and would cuddle up next to that area providing warmth and healing energy.
when i was in florida with my cousin floyd, i expected his cat braveheart to be like this but she wanted nothing to do with him. he was terribly hurt and i wanted to give her a good swat for her attitude, (i didnt,) but did give her one heck of a lecture. didn’t help any of us unfortunately.
I just watched a Jackson Galaxy piece, Farewell my Feral Friend, and I’m bawling. He told about Alex and other feral cats in his life, about respecting them for who they are, respecting their feral mindset, while loving them and providing food and shelter. Inky lived in my back yard until he got sick enough that I could catch him to take him to the vet. Inky’s buried in the sun spot he loved. I never got to hold him until he’d crossed the RB, but I loved him.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m sure that NOTHING like this has ever happened to The Woman (or any of us) in Real Life . . . I don’t know where Georgia picks up these crazy story ideas! =)
I remember laying on the floor after I had given myself a mild case of food poisoning. I remember looking up and seeing both Vlad (when he was still with me) and Sebastian watching me, wondering why I was on the floor. But that was pretty much as close as they got.
my most recent experience with surgery was wisdom teeth, a mixed blessing as on the downside I had to deal with the issues of dental surgery, on the upside, I got some funny videos of me high on anesthesia.

Now that the clowder has thoroughly examined the woman and established that she is still alive, will they let her rest?

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
At the Salubrious Pyramid
Ora Z: We’ve got percussion, everyone! Feel free to bang away!
Abby (Kitten patient and Ora Z’s new friend): I haven’t felt this good since before I came here.
Ora Z: What happened?
Abby: I was doing my painting apprenticeship and fell and broke my paw. I was really good at it, too.
Ora Z: Well, Burt-Ra is a good guy. He’ll help you come back from it.
Abby: Yes. I’m coming back slowly but surely.
Mau-Net: I was learning shipbuilding when I had my accident.
Ora Z: I’ll have you meet Iggy. He can relate to that.
Purr-Cilla: I’m a singer. Then I came down with the virus that everyone got. I’m finally on the road to recovery.
Ora Z: Well, I know the first song we’ll be performing.
Sometime Later
Serfig-Aro: Ladies and Gentlecats, it gives me great pleasure to introduce the percussion group, Mallets Towards None with their first song.
Queen: We Are the Champions!
We’ve had our share
Time after time
Of dealing with spilled kibble
And having a long climb
There have been some mistakes
We’ve made a few
We’ve had our share of litter
Kicked out from the box
But we’ve made it through
And we will zoom on and on and on and on!
We are the kittens, my friends!
And we’ll keep on Zooming til the end!
We are the kittens!
We are the champions!
No time for hissing
’Cause we are the champions of the world!

While she rests so early in the morning
Sniff her head as you’re swarming
And things are not as bad as first seemed
Watch the paw! concerned team (caring team)
Please, don’t wake her
No, don’t shake her

Let us not forget that they are cats after all. When cats hunt they look for the weakest members of the herd.
