I know about the slow blink!

I also have a cat who knows “kiss!” by shoving his nose into my face deliberately. It’s super cute.

I used to slow blink a lot with a cat I used to have. I still do it some. I think I forgot about it a bit.

I have a feral born one who feels the head butt and nose to nose is very important. That is the way he wakes me up every morning two hours before the alarm goes off.

And Iggy adds a little wave. So like him!♥

Somewhere in Egypt, there is a yet to be discovered tomb of the Pharaoh Meowses the First. Her tomb is devoted to the worship of Bastet. Hieroglyphs of the slow-blink are depicted there.

After doing the slow blink with your cat, try doing a slow wink. One of my late cats would slow wink back when I would do it to him.

Im trying to decide if OZ is impressed or scared that the Woman speaks tha ancients language. Maybe a bit of both. “Guys, we better keep an eye on this woman, she seems to know our ways”

Last time I tried to slow-blink my kitty and finally opened my eyes, the kitty was gone…with my Pastrami sandwich!

Each of the six cats is here! Love it.

However, if you do your best slow blink, and just receive a cold stare in return, you know you are doomed.

We call them blowing eye kisses.

Mischief & Trouble slow blink hubby and I a lot. ❤ It truly is the language of the Ancients! :D Ora reminds me so much of Mischief. She will do the same thing, running towards your face to investigate your eyes after slow-blinking. ♡〜٩( ˃́▿˂̀ )۶〜♡

Hamilton A. Cat is on par with Pucky for incredibly slow blinks, especially when he’s on my lap in the evening (I even get deep, rumbly purrs). Probably the most skittish is Holly Bear, but even she will slow-blink some when she is on our bed at bedtime.

Love Georgia’s description in panel three. If the entire comic were devoted to a blink, would that be slow enough?

Our Ladybug, yes, the one that I wrote about here in April when she was partially paralyzed, is a Master of the SlowBlink!Oh, she has almost fully recovered. She no longer leaps around and runs everywhere like she used to but she is fully functional, plays, cuddles and doesn’t seem to be in any pain.

So glad to gear your Ladybug has recovered!

I’ve always figured that the “slow blink” was a cat’s way of saying “Hey, I’m no threat to you. I’ll even close my eyes super-slowly so you can run away if you want!”

I can’t tell you how deeply honored I felt the first time sis’s boss Lou (aka His Majesty King Louis XX) slow blinked at me…

King Cadbury: Yes. I have several in mind. But remember, they are very active and sometimes destructive.

Lupinium: Sounds like my kind of class.

King Cadbury: I thought as much. And would the Artisans be willing to work with some of my artisans?

Maat-Tilda: Of course. We can do any artwork they wish. We have an expert in sculpture, Sophititi, Adobe Style and I love fabric arts, and our resident spider, Arachna, is a yarn maker par excellence!

Queen Catshepsut: Splendid! It sounds like we will be making new friends.

Puckmosis: But how will we keep track?

Queen Cat: We will make the effort.

I’ll do my best to keep track of all the characters.

One day out of boredom, came up with the word “Sloblinki” I liberally applied it to Poodle as a nickname. Then I had the thought that it was the perfect name for a fictional, Feline ruled principality, hidden deep in the Balkans. Last winter, I started making up fictional travel posters for tourism to Sloblinki. I tried to link them here but can’t seem to do it anymore without flipping out Go Comics filters.

I’ve had that work with large cats, too; snow leopards respond well to it.

I’ve tried it with Akiro, but all he does is swat me.

And a slow blink to all of you.

Iggy’s “one-eye-slow-blink/wink-with-a-tiny-wave” is perfection.

I’ve tried it on several cats repeatedly. Results are unclear. None of them ran away.

Vlad used to sniff my eyes. Never could understand why.

For decades I’ve studied cat habits and mimicked them to see what’s most effective. When I visit my daughter she exclaims her cats love me more than they do her. I think they just enjoy someone who cares to listen to their needs. Once when she arrived home her Bengal was very upset when she didn’t greet him and was happy when I pointed it out to her. They know their g-ma loves them.

OT: Worrisome news from Georgia. Georgia posted on face book “Good thoughts and prayers for a dignified gentleman who is at the emergency vet for some undignified tummy troubles. (Appetite good, eating, drinking, peeing… just something is quite off at the moment, poor dude.)”

Sending purrs and head bumps along with good thoughts that Elvis ate something he shouldn’t and therefore will soon be okay.

I am awful at slow blinking. I close my eyes too fast, and probably open them too fast as well. I do keep them closed in the middle for a second or two.

Update from Georgia: "When you are very dignified, but also mildly sedated. This pretty loopy good boy is back home after this morning’s visit to the emergency vet! It seems that Elvis has a tummy bug (a few of the cats might—energies and appetites are great, but tummies have been a bit sensitive this week. It seems to have hit Elvis hardest.) His vitals and blood work came back great, no blockages or masses. His energy was great too, he came out of the carrier swinging and I needed to approve a light sedation for his exam. Waiting on a couple more test results, but Elvis has anti-nausea and digestion meds to help support him while he kicks this bug. The vet also recommended a bland diet of pumpkin, chicken breast, rice, and stock for a few days. Something of note: It is possible they may have caught some early signs of kidney disease in Elvis today. He was also a bit dehydrated from his tummy distress, so it could just be that too. However, Elvis’s older sister Hazel passed away from kidney disease and so it is good to possibly catch it early if he could develop it too. He already has an appointment with my regular vet this week, and I’m going to follow up on that in the hopes that maybe he can be started on a diet to support him if needed! I’m SO grateful this good boy is home and resting! He’s curled up next to me as I type this, wobbling contentedly from side to side between dozes. When the vet tech returned Elvis and the kids first saw him for the first time, the Girl exclaimed: “He seems so… different!” (He was happy to see them!

We have two young cats, two years old. One slow blinks any chance she gets, just keeps slow blinking till you get tired in the eyelids, the other only half-blinks if he’s really sure he’s safe, maybe with one eye only. He’s a little bit nervous. Hilma and Hubert are their names. Sweetest things!
