I just watched “The Long Night” on TCM. It starred Vincent Price as an unctuous, verbose villain who was double-dealing his showgirl assistant and a naive, kind-hearted orphaned young lady.

I couldn’t stop thinking of Wicket all through the movie… I mean, an orphan! Come on! I was already thinking of Wicket as Vincent Price; I half expected his magician character, Maximillian, to sprout feathers and fly away!

Sending biggest hugs and love out to Maizing. I know she said she doesn’t have a cell phone and her surgery was on Monday. So even though she can’t see it now, we are still here with you, Maizing!

If Wicket gets out, Beatrix will NOT be a field reporter without Trevor escorting her. We had an owl after one of our barn cats, and our St. Bernard walked on top of him with the German Shepherd on the side in defense mode until they got him safely to the barn. Dogs protect their pack.

Dr. Scuttles on T/x 8/24: An unexpected visit from my longtime friend Wicket this afternoon. His lamented news from several months back has come to pass, he was at last released from the QWRC. Spent too long in my backyard, asking if I’d heard about the moles over at the Big Pink House…I told him indeed I had. He said it was an awful business… We looked at each other a long time.

I said if I ever found who had forced Old Mag out of her dumpster, I would likely snip-snap my jaws and clip their wings. Wicket replied, “Dear fellow… Moles don’t have wings!”

He laughed heartily and I told him it was nearly time for my supper. He flew off and said he’d visit again soon. He has a lot of time, now that he is out of QWRC…

He thinks I don’t know.
