Now there was a man who had a way with words. I’m betting Baba would give them a worse tongue lashing right now though.

I don’t recognize the reporter standing between Tommy and Goldie. At first, I wondered if Agnes was wearing a wig as a disguise, but she’s on Tommy’s other side.

Baba Mouse clearly can’t leave the Raccoon Brain Trust unsupervised. Little Mag and Beatrix are now a couple of loose cannons … er, loose fire extinguishers?

No Tommy, Goldie, unnamed wigged cat, and mice ladies – there’s no reason for you to turn around and notice what’s happening behind you.

The look on Baba’s face in panel 2 … between the fangs and the eyes, it says it all!

The look of exertion on Beatrix’s face says that even with 2 little girls rolling it, that cannon – er, fire extinguisher- is heavy artillery!

According to petMD.com, there are 9 breeds of long haired guinea pigs. So the mystery reporter could easily be a descendent of the original Clover.

Thanks, Marvin. This is Jim Wolf, and as you can see, the opposing forces are organizing and preparing for battle. Oh, what’s this? A big red fire extinguisher may have just rolled over a mole. Cut to camera 3. Can we see that again in super slow motion? Yes. You can see the surprised look on the little lawn-potatoes’ face as the extinguisher crushes him. Oh, that’s gonna sting tomorrow. or, it could be that Georgia has red-herringed me into thinking that by arranging the wig so it would seem to cover exactly the area on his face that is black.

the ears look like his, but no sign of those tell-tale fangs.

At this rate, the Lawn Potatoes will laugh themselves to surrender.

The average life span of a mole is 3 years, if Georgia draws this story line out about one more week, the whole problem will resolve itself naturally.

Thanks, Marvin. While you were away, I got confirmation that Baba Mouse is not, repeat, not letting the kits play in the thresher. Though, I’m not sure if the call is going to hold. Yes. I think the umpire is coming onto the field with the call.

“After reviewing the tape – The Kits will not be playing in the Thresher. Timekeeper put 2:36 back on the clock.” (Sound of whistleblowing)

Well, there you have it, Marvin. We won’t be seeing threshed kit today.

The thresher comment shows how little common sense young raccoons and a certain kitten reporter have.

I love how tiny the details are in Georgia’s work – Alice is visibly, if you look really close, carrying a labeled Camera 3!

To paraphrase Baba: “Ugh, kits and kittens are exhausting!”

So who is the new reporter between Tommy and Goldie? Iggy in disguise? A new guinea pig journalist? Or as Jim Hutton as Ellery Queen used to ask, or is it someone else? All 3 are legit possibilities. The pad and pencil are guinea pig trademarks but the ears don’t look right. Ellery would always solve the mystery (and answer the question) after a brief commercial break—and back in the mid 70s the breaks were much briefer than they are now. When will Georgia reveal the answer to just who this mystery reporter is? The suspense is killing me.

The band is getting together.

Are Beatrix and Magazine in the misdirected area which Puck announced? It makes sense that the other reporters would be there rather than in the true location of the coming battle.
