My life being chaos lately, I ordered a turkey dinner catered, to be delivered hot and ready to eat, but I just checked my order and I forgot to include sweet potatoes.

Morning run to the store will be required.

I hope everyone else is better prepared.

Has anyone seen the Emmet Otter special from years ago? I’ve never seen it. It is being done live here, and it got rave reviews. I just ordered a ticket for December.

Burt should tell Elvis how, come November, hand turkeys spontaneously generate in every elementary school across the nation; and that, if you gather them all up, they’d fill several houses, and would weigh enough to crush a school bus.

So, reports of OZ having eaten the hand turkey were exaggerated; she just nibbled it a little.♥

And before I forget, Happy Thanksgiving Everyone. I’m terrible for remembering to say such things. I’m also a master of the Irish Goodbye. LOL

We avoid the whole center rack in the oven problem by cooking the turkey outside in our kettle grill. Cooks faster and frees up the oven for all the side dishes. Been doing it for 45 years :-)

Timely reminder! Too many times have we donned the oven mitts of shame & walked the hot oven rack of disgrace to a place of safety! In one house we lived in, we had to take said hot rack out to the outside back porch! The bathtub was in the only bathroom, so, no closing the door to keep the cats away from it.

One of our young cats, Encyclopedia Brown, has started eating paper. He has eaten pages out of some of my books and magazines, and I’m tired of it.

Happy Feast-of-the-Carbs Day! My husband the runner delights in two kinds of potatoes, stuffing, and rolls on this day, all piled high with a side of turkey. Followed by two kinds of pie. He can afford all those calories – he’ll run them off tomorrow. I, however, will have to exercise portion control.

Happy Turkey day! for those having it. If not, then Happy Ham day! And if you’re not having either one of those, I’m sorry! I’m grateful to have such a wonderful place to come in the morning, and read something that will give me a few moments of peace and happiness. And that’s even when I read the comments! Thank you!

The Girl is one after my own heart. When I was about her age, we made hand turkeys in school by tracing our hands inside a blob-shaped dotted outline on the paper. The rest of the kids cut out their finished turkeys on the dotted line, but I very carefully cut around the turkey itself. The teacher had never seen anyone cut around all the feathers, & was a bit freaked out by it. She was even more freaked out when I traced feathers between the feathers on a second turkey & cut those out too. I figured, it looks more like a real turkey that way…
