Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Oh My Cat! This is a case for Detective Goldie! She always gets her cat! A real Feline Whodunnit! Lupin? Iggy? Ora Zella? Pucky? Elvis seems to be missing. Coincidence?
You can see a bit of Goldie’s shoulder and some of the Big Red Couch through Goldie’s magnifying glass. The details! The details! In panel 2, Lupin looks excessively sad, hmmm, and in the last panel, is that a guilty look on Iggy’s face or is he just insecure and afraid he will be accused?
Looks like this investigation is starting from scratch. Their best bet is to bring in an investigator named Claude. The investigation is proceeding smoothly, sofa so good…
My money’s on Ora Zella. (ミゝᆽ・ミ) She looks so innocent, but is that “surprise” I read on her cute furry face simply a look of reactionary, “Oh no, they’ve discovered what I did last night!”
Well at first appearance it looks like we may have some juvenile felines who might be the culprits but recall how Lupin was accused of destruction and mayhem a couple of years back and Detective Goldie found out the truth and revealed in a scene reminiscent of Rick’s in Casablanca that the boy was the guilty party so lets not be too hasty in judgement. So far Goldie is perfect ala Jessica Fletcher or Colombo (sans saying " Oh, just one more thing" about 100 times a crime) in solving mysteries so let her do her magic!
Iggy is looking nervous. Was this an unintentional scratching? Was someone having the zoomies and forgot to retract their claws? Stay tune to Cat CSI for the latest developments.
I’ve had a series of cats for almost fifty years, but I have to say the three I have right now are the most destructive ever. It’s like they wake up every morning and shout “It’s demo day!”
I got some of that double-sided tape to put on the chair that my late MippyCat liked to scratch. I watched as he pulled the tape off with his teeth to get to his favorite scratching spot.
Yes, that DOES include you, Iggy and Ora Zella. You’re both on the wrong side of the “something happened here” tape, so by default, that makes you both evidence until told otherwise. :P
I inherited my Grandmother’s 30 year old couch which was in perfect condition. Didn’t take my two kitties at the time very long to change that. It had perfect 1960’s loopy fabric.
My daughter sometimes comes to visit for an extended period and brings her cat along. We tried to prevent the destruction of our couch but he always managed to get to it at some point. My wife decided to replace it when there was an after Christmas sale and had two choices she liked, one was fabric and a more expensive one was leather. I said definitely buy the leather, which we did, and now kitty sadly doesn’t have a couch to scratch, and it stuck with the scratching post he should have used.
I know there are a number of Monty Python fans who post here. Please have your “I wasn’t expecting the Spanish Inquisition” jokes ready for when Goldie starts questioning the suspects, hopefully tomorrow. I have faith in your ability to come up with some purrfect cat puns. :)
The guilty party in the case of the broken owl vase, see August 3, 2020 for the start of the storyline and if you haven’t read it before you might not want to keep reading this comment since it is going to have a spoiler for that storyline, was the boy. Maybe this time the guilty party is the Girl. She does like to pretend she is different animals. Not sure what she would have used to scratch the Big Red Couch, but maybe we need to go beyond just the cats as suspects.

Scratched up The Big Red Couch! The horror! (They probably should have led with a disclaimer not to let kittens watch this part of the broadcast.)

Hmmm. Some potential evidence on the carpet behind Puck in the last panel?

Goldie, our top investigating reporter, on the job!
The guilty party might as well confess right now.

I have a couch cover over my couch, to delay the inevitable, and one of my girls will painstakingly weasel her way under the cover to claw the couch.

Certainly nobody would do that on purpose!! Everyone loves the big red couch. Iggy does look a little guilty – of maybe just sad. 6

I see two very unhappy suspects whose guilt has not yet been proven. Let us not jump to conclusions.

Terrible timing for the tiny tortie terror and her compatriot. They both look kinda guilty, hanging back like that.

Buffalo Springfield: For What It’s Worth
Something just happened here
Who did it ain’t exactly clear
Goldie has cordoned off the crime scene
What happens next remains to be seen!
…….
I think the time is getting late
Everybody help investigate!
…….
Lupin looking rather sad
Puck gives all the news to be had
Iggy and Ora are right there
Everyone shows that they all are aware!
…….
I think the time is getting late
Everybody help investigate!
…….
Six cats and kitties can be tough
A Big Red Couch can only take so much!
Sometimes it seems really unfair!
But maybe the Woman can create some kind of repair!
…….
I think the time is getting late
Everybody help investigate!

Where’s Elvis? I don’t think Lupin did it. Iggy looks very worried and rather guilty.

Maverick moderated our expectations for having nice furniture when he scratched the daylights out of a leather recliner we once had.
It was good practice for when we replaced it about six months before we were introduced to The Girl.

Cant blame the kitties. Placing a couch in the room is like bait. Humans at fault.

My old cat never touched my furniture, although she did a number on my kitchen cabinets.
Then I went away on an extended trip, and she stayed at my mother’s house. I got a tour of the damage when I returned. It was extensive.

I’m late to the posts, but Elvis scratched the couch when the guys were left alone in June 2018. The Siamese “doth protest too much, methinks.”
