I have two that do this. I can’t imagine having 6. But what’s worse is when Sara is already in there and Gracie wants in. When I open the door to get out they have a cat standoff. So I have to open the door ALL THE WAY so Sara can dart past Gracie, hissing as she goes.

Must be feeding time. Otherwise they’d be completely indifferent to the situation. After all, they’re cats…

I love Iggy’s sweet Tap. Tap. Tap? And Ora Zella’s door cling. My Sara does Puck’s “take my little paw” routine, but Gracie hits the door like a swat team trying to gain entry.

Iggy’s worried little upturned face in panel 3 is evocative and heart-rending. Then comes his relief in 6, and horror in the next panel. it’s not just facial expressions that Georgia is superb at, but body postures as well.

I love seeing the little foot under the door reaching, reaching hoping to grab something. Maybe the door will open and I can come in.

I only close the door at certain times, but the minute that click is heard by Loaner Cat, no matter where she is in the house, she will be on the other side, pawing at the door and sticking said little paw underneath it. If I’m in the ‘big’ bathroom, Beau, who unfortunately is too smart for his own good and has learned to open the lever type handles, will come open the door for her so I not only have her running in, but he follows her and an 83 pound dog trying to turn around in there while not stepping on her or sitting on me while trying is less than ideal. The ‘little’ bathroom still has a round handle. He hasn’t learned to open that yet so I have Loaner Cat pawing at the door and Beau poking at the handle. There is no privacy in my house.

When anyone goes into the bathroom, our Encyclopedia Brown wants to accompany them. He just checks everything in the room, to see if there are any changes. Then he’s ready to leave.

I never close the door if one of my girls is approaching. I’m always afraid of getting a paw, or other body part shut in the door. Not to mention it’s rude to shut the door in their little faces. They do have a rule about both of them not being in there together. Sara will come in, only to find Gracie already inside, and mutter, DANG! and leave in a huff. I keep their water fountain in the shower because Sara splashes so much it’s the only safe place for it. So that’s another reason for having an open door policy.

Luckily, I don’t have that problem. With the exception of the cabinet under the sink and the water heater/pantry closet, there are no closed door in the apartment. So I don’t have to worry about kitties demanding to be in the bathroom with me.

Yup. We are there but we only have 5 cats. And three NewfieLabs. GSDs will not let you close a door them, is there is that. When we had GSDs they had to be in the bathroom with you. We had one who would also follow us into the shower.

I will sometimes attach a wall-string to the doorknob which permits feline entry, whilst also not allowing human viewing. At home alone the door can remain wide open.

One of my younger kitties will always jump upon the sink, blocking access to a faucet, and thus make it difficult to moisten bathroom tissue…..

Utah cat found in Amazon warehouse a week after sneaking into a return box

This headline tells a cautionary tale. Folks, check those boxes before you tape them shut and send them on their way. Fortunately, the cat was microchipped and was reunited with her people after spending almost a week in that box!

I don’t so much mind them waiting outside as sneaking into the bathroom when I leave and getting shut in. It’s usually our downstairs half-bath which is off a dark hallway, impossible to see cats after I turn the bathroom light off and I don’t really want to leave the door ajar because they get into things and Dilly has been known to fall in the toilet bowl. “No, no, everyone out. Out. You too.” But someone slips in behind me and fifteen minutes later there are plaintive yolps echoing from the bathroom. Betrayed expression: “I can’t believe you locked me in and forgot about me!”

I recently found out that my one year old cat has figured out how to open the bathroom door. I knew he could open doors with lever handles but the bathroom door has a round handle that he can open. Now I lock the door.

At my former house, one of my cats accidentally locked me out of the house by trying to open the back storm door and follow me outside. It was not the kind you could open with a key. Fortunately(?), the front door, though locked, was easy to open with a good kick.

I’m curious to know if any of you have no family or close friends, what is your plan if you pass on and no one checks on you daily or even weekly? Do we all lay decomposing until someone finally has the gumption to check on us?

Since I’m being chatty I will put out a question for you all. My profile lists comics I follow. Some of them I do, and some comics that I read every day are not there. But why are there comics that I have never read? Should I try to remove them from the list? Should I care? Should I go put away my breakfast dishes? Let the dogs out again?

By the way, I think my avatar is rather fitting.
