But Fish doesn’t look too happy. Will Dog invite Fish to come bark and run with him? It only seems fair.

No six year old wrote this. I’m guessing maybe Aesop or KE. Since I’m sick of fables I’ll just give them the bird and be off.

So what are we to make of the blue and pink text background colors for the fish and the dog sections; why aren’t they alll yellow, like the first one…

Don’t look so sad, Fish. Go join him until he gets tired and falls asleep. Then you’ll have the whole small tank to yourself. Or, better yet, you two run away and go live at the Aquarium—where there’s plenty of room for both running and swimming! Are you paying attention, G&K?

It’ll be interesting to see the reaction of Shannon’s audience when she’s finished. I’m guessing that Bernice will shrug it off as “juvenile”, while Luann will offer genuine praise—maybe even show it to her writing instructor.

Monstro should go with Puddles and explore the outside world with his new legs..

Who knows.. maybe they’ll bring back some glazed donuts for everyone? ;)

I can’t help but think that the dog wanting to “run around and bark” is a reference to Sharon’s father. We’ve been shown how Brad and Toni disapprove of his neglect, but we’ve never heard from Sharon about her feelings about the matter.

I really hate to say this but this arc is boring me. Unless we find out who broke Tiffany’s window I don’t see this arc going any where. Maybe if I were a child I would love this but as an adult the storyline isn’t an attention grabber.

Emily Dickinson I’m not, but here’s my 3am take:

Monstro and Puddles sitting in a bowl.Splash and swim and then they roll.First comes play, then comes marriageHow many fish pups in the carriage?

    One, two, three, four….

Are we sure Shannon is not tapping into something? The sad fish being left alone. Her dad pawns her off to Toni & Brad so he can do his thing. Then Toni & Brad leave her with Luann. Then Luann doesn’t have time and shuffles Shannon off to Bernice.

This arc strikes me as timely. People need to accept themselves and others as they are and for who and what they are. In this case, trying to change can be disastrous. But, Shannon is being creative and surprisingly focused. ;-)

Shannon’s story is really sweet. It has the pleasant simplicity of a story created by children and reminds me of the ones I used to draw with my sister. Let’s hope Bernice can identify herself with Monstro and see her fear for the possibility that Puddles (aka Luann) a day might say she’s bored by her and go where she can be happier, leaving her behind. This fear may explain a lot about her behaviour toward Luann.

SO very deep. Esoterically vast in its complexity. It’s almost Hemingway in its beauty. A true work of art, that I think I will read and re-read over the years. Perhaps even to my grandchildren.

So, the strip has devolved to the level of a pre-schooler, if only the technology were available to make each panel a “pop-up”, the transformation would be complete.Of course, the continuation could show that Bernice is utterly transfixed by the complexities of the story..

Obviously this is an interesting story, as it has illicited so many comments—-everything from sarcasm to explanations about this allegory and if it indeed does relate to Luann and Bernice and their friendship.
