So who will they meet at the park?

Continuing my thought from yesterday, I see this arc as a change of each of the characters’ personality. They are actually getting up and doing something fun instead of laying about in Luann’s bedroom.

It’s time for Les and Nil show up.

Puddles looks excited. Does he know what “sashay” is?

I don’t think that “dolled up” is part of the current teen/young adult vocabulary. I more often here them talk about “getting ready.”

This might be promising.

30 seconds or 30 minutes?

It is my deepest prayer that this leads somewhere.

Still kinda weird that that is their takeaway from a romance novel, rather than anything involving a guy and/or intimacy. These two are so frigid they could start another ice age.

This time, please don’t let the ADHD blond and her dipstick buddy lose Puddles. This strip is already short on happy characters.

Boy, is Puddles ever eager, LOL! BTW, has Bernice ever worn a dress in all the history of this strip?

A proper sashay is a thing of beauty.

Bernie says “Sashay” but in the 1800’s, they called it a “Promenade”.

People would dress in their finest clothing and walk, or “promenade” around High Park, to show off their fashion and try to snare a rich husband.

Like Instagram but in real life :-))

Luann and Bernice are very different, but they know how to coordinate as if they are able to read each other’s minds. I like the second panel, with Puddles excited, Luann smiling, and Bernice considering the idea. A picnic in cute dresses is a nice way to spend the day. Maybe they could even meet someone, maybe not and they will just have fun. Or they will be attacked by: ants, ducks, sudden rain, strong winds, etc.

All dogs everywhere know the word ‘park’. It may be a different word, depending on the local language, but they know it. And respond to it. ;)

All Puddles heard were “go” and “park”!

Not sure I’ve ever sashayed… Been a lot of time since I skipped, and I’m hoping I’ve never slouched.

This prompted me to listen to Saturday In The Park by Chicago.

I’m not quite sure what lit the fuse under Bernice to suddenly spark her interest in such a thing?

When she says ‘ready in 30’ is that seconds, minutes or hours. Personal experience tells me it’ll be closer to hours

I’d think a cute sundress would work for a “sashay” around the park. (Or, a crop top, and, a pair of short shorts.)

To the dog park where they will sit on a bench and then what? Sit and read romance novels; too dressed up to run with Puds; maybe Jack will be there with his dog.

Once again, this strip has its finger squarely on the pulse of American youth.

Do they have a “cute” picnic basket handy? They may have to settle for an Igloo Playmate.

You go, girls! … That’s right, literally git up and GO! Fresh air, a little sun, maybe even meeting some nice folks.

Can you imagine Luann and Bernice skipping about in a field with a picnic basket?

So what’s the over-under on them never actually making it to the park? For anyone who thinks such an idea is ridiculous, I’ll just remind you of around this time last year: Tiffany’s Epic Pool Party.

“Wait – we’re both college students! There are plenty of activities going on at our respective campuses. Or lets meet up with our friends there and go on some adventures!”

Interesting, maybe there is a shift happening with the characters that started with the whole makeover storyline that was making the “5 minutes after midnight crowd” around here so nuts. Interesting that they didn’t stay with Brad and Toni longer. This new twist could be fun I think!

Oooo, YEAH! Parks have nice little paths that are very different from wild fields, and yet can be surrounded by wild fields and trees. :)
