and, why do they any of them believe anyone cares what they think about politics?

I was at a Bob Dylan concert once where his Oscar was sitting on his piano. Not quite Liberace with his candelabra but a pretty cool sight.

The Count didn’t realize Robert De Nutto was dead. The Count could also say Sean Pennsylneck but did enjoy the portrayal of Spicolli in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”. Esp like the part where he hits himself in the head with his shoe. (hint: read the book… lots of stuff left out of the movie like Senior Night at Disneyland)

Oh, but I will always cherish their unsolicited political opinions. May they rest in peace.

If unknown celebrities and afford gold statues of themselves, I’d like to see what known celebrities can afford

Saying you won an election doesn’t mean you did either.

Fame can be a very fickle thing. I am a guide at a historic Philadelphia cemetery which houses the remains of many people who were literary celebrities in their lifetimes, but are mostly forgotten now. Just the same, the woman who wrote what I call “The Great American Nursery Rhyme” (Mary had a Little Lamb), has a modest grave, with only her name and dates.Not far away is an elaborate monument to a man who wrote a “classic epic” (yes, it says so on the monument) that few 21st century readers have ever heard of, let alone read.

All glory is fleeting.

there was a bit on you-tube, some tik tocker arrested by the police and he says “Do you know who I am?” and the cop just says ‘nope’ and shackles him.

Should have been “Nominated”, not “Won”. much larger list of one-timers for that.

Watched a tribute to Bob Newhart the other night. Was very surprised he won only one Emmy in his long and lustrous career, and that was for guest appearance on a comedy show. Think it was ‘The Big Bang Theory’ as Professor Proton.

The Chicago Tribune Syndicate distributes a weekly column called “Celebrity Travel”. The problem is, I’ve never heard of any of those so-called celebrities!

The very few who are ever long remembered are usually so remembered because they were very great, very evil or very stupid.

Academy Awards. Orgy of self aggrandizement.

Isn’t ‘unknown celebrity’ an oxymoron.

Many celebrities are dumber than an ox and definitely morons…..

That grave could belong to any Oscar-winner that wasn’t best actor/actress/supporting/director.

I know an Oscar winner from before she won. And even though she’s an actor it was not for acting. But, I like to watch her act.

I’m not interested in shows where people make a big deal of giving themselves trophies and accolades. I realize that being a successful entertainer requires a bit of narcissism, but this is too much. I suppose some may enjoy the red carpet walks of beautiful people strutting and posing and showing off, but one can get similar shows for free at the beach.

How about writing a slim volume of poetry?

Like most award gatherings, it’s a popularity contest. With financial, political or some other “something” attached. Talent has little to do with it.

Around Oscar time, I often see “Do you remember?” lists floating around. Some have names of Best Picture winners along with “better known” pictures from the same year, and indeed, I usually remember the “better known” ones rather than the Best Picture winners. Sometimes they have lists of Best Actor/Actress winners, and some of them I do not remember at all, like the guy in this cartoon…

That line could actually be applied to just about all celebrities.
