A new storyline for Luann DeGroot?

This is foreshadowing. Mrs. Horner takes dialysis for 5 hours a day, and the DeGroot Thanksgiving feast just might be a significant factor in things turning for the worse.

I hope this storyline ends soon. Not feeling it.

I’m getting Bernice vibes here. If Phil does go to Thanksgiving I have a feeling he and Bernice will click and this can cause some jealousy drama between the 2 girls.

We’ll see if Phil is just a one-time pop-up or appears again. He could already have other plans for Thanksgiving.

But considering Lu’s recent “luck” Phil would probably “fall” for (God HELP him) Bernice.

Because besides her parents, she’s got two other people that really care about her: Mrs Horner and this other guy. (NOT Phil)

I sure hope Phil here enjoys ongoing sexual frustration while being displayed like a trophy, because that’s his fate as a love interest of Luann. When you date her you stop being a person with feelings of your own, and you become a tool used to make Luann feel good about herself and to make Tiffany feel bad.

I really hope the story continues with dear Mrs. Horner being a guest for Thanksgiving dinner, maybe with Phil. Dunno if he could become a recurring character, but I still think about the possibility that Luann could pursue a career as a doctor or nurse and a friendship with someone who is doing that could help her make that decision.

Mrs Horner is the wisest person in the whole strip. She always knows what to say.

Mrs. H is wonderful, and always raises the fun factor. The drama moves away from the self-centered and toward the loving and giving. Perfect for Thanksgiving.

Yeah, all the hot guys work in senior care facilities.

I hate reading dialogue with a hidden pun. Luann can’t read a speech bubble.

She scores a point with Phil, visiting her old teacher without an ulterior motive!

If this strip were from 20 years ago, it would take at least two weeks of arc before Phil’s “sexual orientation” came out, very obliquely. In the present day, a guy is more likely to smile and say, “thank you for that, but I’m gay”.

I really like how Luann’s expression was done in the second panel. Greg and/or Karen (whoever drew it) really nailed it.
